Surely that income the government receives/takes is better spent on education and healthcare? Isn't that called planning for the future?

Why aren't we up in arms? (no pun intended) How are these issues continuing without scrutiny from the public? It makes no sense to me at all

Its the way people are being raised. We are being raised and taught to be submissive and respect authority (ie Government, police, Etc.) no matter what the situation is.

I don't always agree with it, but unfortunately that's the way it is.

If McCain had gotten elected I'm pretty sure we'd be up in arms and rebelling in 4 years, sick of the same old shit.

Now we have 'Hope' for 'Change' with the 'promise' bla bla bla

Enough people will be semi-satisfied long enough that the sheepification of the American people will continue until we turn in our guns and bongs and gladly go work the fields for the Fords and Cheney's of the world.

So you are saying that we are collectively being "dumbed down" in order for the government to have better control over us? Why cant people think for themselves? Is it the same reason that we no longer take responsibility for our own actions? Blame others for our own mistakes?

Why isnt responsibility being taught by parents? The education system is failing, most know this and yet we see time and time again society allowing it to continue.

I think overall people are getting "dumber", I dont know if its for the benefit of the government, but it is happening.

People arent thinking for themselves because they dont have to anymore. More and more these days theres some new invention to replace human thinking. They dont even teach long division anymore because they have calculators! That is fucking Ridiculous IMO.

What are kids supose to do when they dont have a calculator? Oh fuck, guess I gotta find a calculator... :dunce:

How can unresponsible parents teach their kids responsibility? More and more young people are having kids who have No business having kids. Then they expect their parents to take care of the baby 90% of the time... :dunce:

Why is it the majority of people that are having kids are low to average income?

Its the blind leading the blind, we are perpetuating reverse darwinism.

I hope when you say "we" you mean people in general and not the people responding to the thread. From what I've seen most people here have the ability to think for ourselves and to seek out knowledge that we don't already have.

RT76 is right when he suggested to let Darwin's idea of "only the strong survive". It may sound cruel, but in nature it is only the strong who survive. This will only happen if we decide to send a colony into space, only the best and brightest will go. I'm not saying thats the way it will happen but thats the theory behind it...

So in light of what we speak of, what is the solution? It has been said in this thread that it will work out in the end, but at what cost? And is this outcome the best of whats possible? I don't think so. The lazy and useless people of society will always exist and there will always be do-gooders saying that they need to be looked after... so in what direction do we go?

When I say "we" I dont think its any specific group, but rather people in general.

"Only the strong survive" Is almost outdated. What is considered strong these days? And do we want the strong, Or do we want the smartest people to survive?

Where do we go and what do we do? Thats really the ultimate question. We are able to identify all these problems, but what is the best solution, if any?

IMO that is ridiculous. Im all for people being able to own weapons. But IMO they should have to be licensed and registered.

USA has some messed up gun laws, It varies too much from state to state.

Also, just curious, do these people still need a license to buy Ammo? Or can anyone who has a gun go buy some? I would imagine they are not gonna check your record to buy ammo.

if your 18 or older you can buy any ammo for any gun . except at of course walmart

In Australia you need a license to buy firearms, ammo, mags, barrels or actions. And you need the right license for the right bit, eg cant buy pistol ammo or mags without a pistol license, which are very hard to get...

That seems crazy to me. No background checks or anything? Do they ID you? What if your from a different state or a different country?

Canada seems to be right in the middle between Australia and USA for gun control.

Its pretty damn easy to get your pistol license here, a couple hundred bucks and a 2 day safety course, then as long as you pass the background check you get your restricted PAL. Which means you can buy pistols, rifles, shotguns, anything. But there is waiting periods to buy guns, and all firearms have to be registered.

To get your pistol license in oz, you need to be a member of a certified gun club for 6 months, then if you get permission from the club committee, you can apply to get your license. If you pass a full background check and can provide the right paperwork you get your license. But you need to stay a full and active member of a pistol club AND you need to participate in 12 club events per year (or once a month).

It's FUCKED :cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss:

I believe that is also state dependent. In some states you must be 21 to purchase handguns or their ammo. I had a friend a month shy of his 21st birthday that was almost unable to purchase .25 ammo for his mom's pistol. If walmart would have had any competent employees he would not have been able to purchase it.

I'm not really sure who decides what is considered handgun ammo and what is considered rifle.

Wow, in TN if you don't have a gun it's kinda weird... and you can get ammo anywhere pretty much. Even Walmart, I'm of age so i'm not sure when they start ID'ing you

in ny state there is suspose to be a 72 hour waiting period, But it is void in my county because of little gun violence.

It doesn't matter where your from as long as your over 18

at walmart as long as you tell the person it is for a rifle they will sell it to you. They do make rifles in all most "pistol calibers".

This is US Federal Law, your individual State may have stronger restrictions but no states can have 'fewer' restrictions.

To purchase a hand gun from a FFL (Federal Firearms Licensee) you have to be 21 years old.

To purchase a hand gun in a FTF (Face to Face) you have to be 18.

To possess or use a hand gun and be under the age of 18 you have to be in the 'immediate' presence of a legal guardian. If not the weapons have to be secured either in a safe or unloaded and trigger locked.

Rifles/Shotguns maybe purchased by ages 18 and up from a FFL.

Pistol ammunition can not be purchased by anyone under the age of 21 legally.

The exception, there are .22 cal, .45 cal and 9mm rifles that exist, so someone under the age of 21 may purchase ammunition legally if they tell the clerk it's for a rifle. (I don't understand this law either.)

Everyone who purchases a firearm from a FFL must submit to the NICS check. (National Instant Background Check System) Every single time a firearm is purchased you have to submit to this.

There is no federal waiting period, however most states have them.

In a 'face to face' transaction you can legally sell to anyone, criminal or otherwise, but...... When getting the NICS check done the serial number of your weapon is submitted to the FBI and BATFE, if you sell a FFL purchased weapon in a face to face and that person committs a crime with the gun you sold you're getting the first visit from the police. You had better make sure you got a receipt for the sale and it's good to have a photo copy of the persons ID and hang on to it for life.

I personally won't sell a gun to anyone I don't know. I also require that they have a Concealed Weapons Permit and a State ID, and be willing to sign a 'transfere' receipt. That way if that gun gets stolen from them and used in a crime or if they use it in a crime I have ample evidence that the firearm is no longer mine.

THe 'face to face' transaction is the so called 'gun show loophole.' The 'liberal' feds are trying to prevent face to face transactions. This really won't effect most gun shows since most of them are run by FFL dealers. However there are 'panderers' at the shows trying to buy and sell guns who aren't FFL's. If someone makes a career or profit of FTF sales, they are committing a crime, after a certain ammount you can become an illegal arms dealer if you don't have a FFL. There are quite a few people who have gotten caught in this 'gray' area of selling guns, the ATF takes it very seriously.

To close this loophole would criminalize CnR sellers who not currently required to posess a FFL. CnR means Curious and Relics, or 'older than shit' guns. CnR's are generally non functioning or antique weapons, many no longer have ammunition made for them, basically collectables. To illegalize FTF transfers would completely stop collectors from obtaining or selling thier pieces because many of their sales are done via association or internet advertisements. If they have to open shop or have a FFL booth at a gun show the sales are so slow and individual that they wouldn't make any money, it's a VERY limited market.

The ONLY gun I ever sold also involved a NICS check that I required. I paid a FFL to run the NICS check on the guy I was selling to. I knew him and we both agreed that it was best to keep it more than 100% above the level.

Hopefully that answers some questions about buying and selling arms.

There's no Federal registration required, there's no federal licesnse. Many states require such things .. the free ones do not.
