I just meant for an even canopy, so you would get even light distribution on the lower buds rather than the one large top cola keeping the light too far away from the other buds lower down on both plants. :)

loving the show, keep the pics coming.
looking forward to seeing your new set up :)

I think you are gambling there mate.
I would defo use a contacter on your lights, you only need a fault and you risk a fire..
I think you have been lucky so far.
If you closed your eyes and then ran across a busy road, if you didnt get hit by a vehicle, would you consider your self lucky? or would you say this is a safe was to cross as you have done it and been ok?
Your advice is sound my freind........BUT.....I'm pretty handy with electrics and these timers r handling it no probs(all my ballests have their own timer).....my ballests(sunmaster and I Sun pro)r duel fused to give me extra protection and if any probs occurred with the timers I would notice it sharpish(I spend most of my time in my grow room)I would not recommend anything unless I have had first hand experience with it myself.........also I've been using these timers(Asda £5) for 18 months......

Ps...I also run a 1000w magnetic with same timer with no probs......

The problem lies within the voltage being carried through the timer for long periods daily.

If you are handy with electrics, it's relatively easy and cheap to set up a contacter which can be sited in a stand alone unit. (£30 ish)
The live terminal from as many socket as you wish to run, goes into the contactor terminals in and out.
The power source for the contactor can be supplied from a 5amp plug, plugged into your timer.
This way, if your wiring is set up properly as a ring main, you could run as many lights as you wish completely safely with no overload on your timer.
Completely safe and as reliable as the timer you choose. ( I would choose plug and grow brand at minimum for is long reliability)

I'm just letting you know a way that is very safe and very economical to set up.

If you are happy growing with your current set up, then great and I hope everything is good and you have many years of successful growing without any issues.
When ever I have set up a grow in The last 13 years, it has always been with a magnetic contactor to carry he heavy electrical loads of ballasts.

Thx again nine for your concern........but.......as I previously posted I've been using these timers for close to 2years now and at first .....Yes......I watched them like a hawk after 3 proper heavy duty hydro timers burnt out ........but I am happy to say they have held up surprisingly well so this is why I have no hesitation in recommending these timers to my fellow growers.....I also use a 13w household dimmer switch(for lights)to control my fans speed and wired a hps Euro shade to power my 125w cfl..........should I expect my grow room to BLOW UP because of this......Lol.......and by the way......if you think about it.......I could cross a road blindfolded no problem......as long as I can hear if anything is Comming........simple.....YES.......

You're welcome.
If you are in your grow room every day then you may well be ok.
Have you had a timer break on you where the clock staying either on or off continuously regardless of the pegs selected?
It's a common fault with the cheaper ones handling high current.

Anyway, you crack on, and good luck, I hope you continue growing successfully without any issues for years.

I can sleep easy because I have explained how easy and cheap it is to set up a system that is very safe. So I've done my bit and shared my knowledge
:)

Edit :
Does your dimmer make a buzzing noise whilst downscaling your fan current?
If so, it won't last very long.
You can buy a thermostatic control for your fan for about £65 which will do the job safely and maintain a required temp.

Ps, I never said anything would blow up, I was referring to an electrical fire due to a fault on your timer.

Hope this helps.

So I have been a busy man. Had blown bulbs and late deliverys and missing parts but the tent is set up at long last! Had to cut it down so now it's 1.2m X 1.1m X 2m. Temps sit at 26.5c with fan on 2/3 speed through the 600w cooltube. Humidity is around 65%. Two new seedlings are vegging away under cfl in the old cupboard. Hopefully the HPS makes a decent increase in yield even though it's only for the last 3 or 4 weeks??

Yea weat the plants r looking fine......you will notice a MASSIVE difference with them under the hps those buds will fatten up well......listen weat your plant's r at the stage where they would benefit MASSIVALY from being fed some pk 13/14 it doesn't cost much and will double your yeild .......personally I use plagrons because it allows you to use it to the end of flower unlike say canna which only lets you feed for a week at 4_5 weeks it's a must mate.....your temps r perfect and your rh is in the ballpark so no probs their....best of luck mate.....

Went on amazon, was impressed with the price (tenner for a litre Inc postage) so it's on the way. I mean for a tenner if I can boost my yield by 2 grams it will pay itself twice over. Will have to see! :) thanks for the advice GHS!
