Okay coolio. I have only ever dealt with fem seeds lol. Thanks!

Hmm, if I bred it to the two females I have left that would make those seeds F2 correct? And more stable? That male has trichromes all over the fan leaves and looks super dank. I would love to collect the pollen and breed it to a clone of the keeper pheno....I have an extra space that I could put it in

If you have a frosty male, I'd make some F2.
They aren't necessarily more stable, but you would also have more than 10-12 seeds to find a keeper.(depending on how many buds you impregnate)
Okay here's my issue/question though. How long before the sacks are viable? I have another chamber, but I really would like to uproot this male so I can reuse the soil without amending it. I read where you can cut a branch off and just put it in water in like a 16oz cup with 12/12 lighting and I can just collect the pollen from that, but would I need to wait for it to root? Or should I just move this guy over to the chamber and harvest all the pollen? Thanks for all the advice, this is a great experience for me

I will do this I think, but I will put it in a solo cup and stick it through foil and collect the pollen on the foil. I see that 10 days-2 weeks is the point where it usually begins to open so i will cut the main top tmrw and put it in its own cup and the side branches in a cup each as well.

Edit* it also seems like it doesn't matter the lighting schedule anymore once the male
Has started flowering which is good because I will be manually controlling the switch since I don't have another timer lol

Yes bro that work once a male is in flower it doesn't take much light for him to keep flowering. Light from a window would be enough but I would say stick a paper plate or something under him so when the pollen drops it drops onto something that can be picked up with ease.

Yes pollinating a female will make f2s but like Nug said doesn't make the line more stable. It take years to make a stable line where only specific phenos will show everytime. If you can collect some pollen I would do it and hit the females and make some so you can have more of the cross. And if that make is frosty like you say you should get some nice plants. What's he smelling like rub the stem.

I rubbed the stem of a side branch and the main stem closed my eyes and smelled my finger lol. It smells DANK! Like sour with a sweet tone at the end. Like overly ripe fruit or some such lol. He's a beast as well, structure wise he's huge! With a bunch of side branching. My fingers are sticky from rubbing the stem lol. Pheno #1 is a female! Got pistils at the proper spot

just shove it in some spare shitty soil brother, it'll finish off flowering anyway. Doesn't really need much..not like you care about male yield or anything anyway lol there'll be more than enough pollen from just a couple bananas. Males will generally show/flower faster than females - they're often tall and skinny too compared with females.(good way to take a guess before any sex shows).
And congratulations on the female man! looking forward to seeing them stank buds! Sticky already is a very good sign ;) May as well collect the pollen and chuck it in a airtight container in your freezer - can make some crosses another time when you come across some nice fems.

as long as he gets less than 12 hours daylight/ more than 12 hours dark he'll keep flowering yea

EDIT: you can see when the pollen sacks are ready because they'll fatten up and then open - they look like lil flowers when they're open..kinda like super tiny yellow fuscia flowers or something. And as they open pollen dust will fall out - ideally you want him way away from your flower room and have fairly still air so the pollen will gather underneath him. Or you can just wait until they swell and pull them off gently before they've opened. I'd highly advise you not to flower him in your main room..goes absolutely eveywhere and its very very fine..like powder kinda thing so it's a bitch to clean it all up..any left behind will make seeds if it gets into contact with a pistil so yea.
heres a pic of closed and then some open sacks for ya

oh and F2's are generally the least stable, you'll get a lot of variation. Not necessarily a bad thing..could have some mad keepers..but you'll get all sorts..especially as the parents were not particularly stable themselves..

Oh dang, I didn't know that! I am basically going in my head from biology class when that dude first made a grid system with his plants lol. It's very confusing with MJ though because of all the varietys nowadays. I mean this cross RugburnOG, which is a cup placer x Monstercookies which is from a random other cross and GU didn't even pollinate the Rugburn with the Stardawg. Then people who have access start getting into BX crosses and crazy stuff like that. It can drive a man insane trying to keep up with the SeedBay breeders Alone!

Thanks for all this pics of the males, it's been 10 days and so I am going to cut him up and just have a bunch of solo cups with each branch...idk still working in that idea, but he's getting chopped this week for sure. I have the perfect space to do this in so I am not worried one bit! I was thinking I could lay down wax paper on the floor and then it's recomended to put it in a little packet or some such then placed above rice to suck out the moisture and then I can mix it 1:2 with flour and put it in a mason jar, screw on lid with the seal, and put it in the freezer, sound about right?.....didn't mean to ramble Goldy, just wanting to make sure I had it right!:blsmoke:

To be perfectly honest. Most of the breeders around know an absolutely pathetically small amount about the 'breeding' they do. Just pollen chuckers almost 90% of the time. The actual breeders, the people who actually care enough to breed and work with their strains are few and far between. There is a lot of confusing breeding happening yea..add to that the crappy documentation of genetics etc. The weed industry as a whole is a bit of a laugh actually lol.

I've had a very large male I just pulled up and shoved in a pot with almost no soil..like juust big enough for the roots themselves almost. Your plan should work fine. And just near a desk lamp even is enough light. Yea man that's perfect. I try dry is out as much as possible before storage just to be safe..don't want any mould etc. Nah not rambling, your good bro!

That's the way I do it. Use a q-tip to spread pollen on selected branches.

To prevent pollen from spreading to multiple branches you can spray the affected branches with water to make the pollen inert.

You will know if the pollen took because the hairs will prematurely turn red.

Quick update, first shot is the topped female, 2nd shot is the LST'd female, then a group shot, then the male...how does he look btw? His growth is amazingly vigorous compared to the two females btw, does he look like a good candidate for breeding? And then I got a shot of my latest pickup from GreenPoint Seeds! Damn, I really hope he lets me into the polar bear testers! :weed:

They're looking nice man, which out of the girls is your fave so far? Yea bro with picking the male it just depends what you're after really. So you want to pick out a male with e.g. short flowering time or high potency or whatever trait it is that you're trying to pass into the next generation and use that one. In theory you'd search for a male with all the exact traits you're looking for and then breed with it and not until you've found that exact one..but you've got to be realistic..with one or two packs of seed you just pick out the nicest, healthiest male with as many ideal traits as possible. He looks good. I find the males do tend to be vigorous and generally much quicker flowerers..need compare their growth with other males as opposed to females for a better idea of which are vigorous etc.

And So do I man..SO so keen to get in on them haha I've written me a list for the pre-sales already:hump:

I like the LST'd girl, and how bushy she is with how many tops she has. They both are showing similar bud formation, the leaves are slightly different, the LST females has slightly sharper edges on her fans and more webbing, but I think they are very similar. I have a good friend that has the space and he will be running the f2s I make from these in the search for keepers for f3s and I will be keeping the best smoke female for eventual back crossing. I think on the first I will pop my next pack so that I can get some f2s for another strain going....I am leaning towards the BRuce BannerxMonster cookies lol, my buddy wants those as well. I want to be able to get to f3 for all the GreenPoint seeds I have, and I have a couple of other strains-dinafems OG Kush, Delicious Cotton Candy, and some Barneys Violator Kush that I wouldn't mind breeding in as well. This stuff is so damn fun!

Oh, I ended up smelling my girls tonight individually. This is actually recomended in breeding lol, but I was going to trip so I decided why not. Definatly have two distinctly different smells. The tall topped one smells like lemon pinesol. The short fat one just REEKS of diesal and an almost earthy scent at the beginning notes. I couldn't stop smelling my fingers lol. The dad smells like the diesal girl, but not as pronounced or as deep a smell, also slightly sweet lemon. i read up on RugBurn OG and its OG x Rare Dankness #1 which is just OG kush (ghost cut) backcrossed. The potential of her is over 24% THC which sounds nice, and that desired phenotype is a lemony pinesol diesal flavor! I have no clue what the MC male smells like unfortunately, but from all the pictures on Instagram the leaves look similar throughout, and there WERE a lot of males, which could mean that it was really a big influencer? Idk, that's beyond my scope of knowledge but yeah it smells freaking delicious in that tent

Yea I like LST myself - growth is faster too because of not stunting the growth by cutting. Awesome on the breeding project. I really think that's where you get the keepers - unless you've got a lot of money it's the only way to get 100s-1000s to choose from. Gives you the potential to find something really really good. I'd do the Banner too man..a bit jelly about that one lol. If you're keen to trade breeding projects man could well be keen. Have nothing currently but will in the future. Good way to try new things for free heh. Just popped me some Bodhi Harlequin BX yesterday. 6/6 and all broke soil by this afternoon. Yea I intend to do the same re getting all strains to F3. It'd be awesome to get them to IBL..I might attempt to..unless I find something really amazing..it's possible I'll change direction if so lol. Don't have the space currently.
How's the Violator? Have heard good things about it but never from someone who's grown it themselves.

That sounds awesome! Yeah man, that's why I want to get them stable so that I CAN share them with other growers. I think that would be ideal for me. You will have to keep looking unfortunately for the violator lol, I inly have 2 left but all of the rest were duds or they got to early seedling stage and just never made it, very unfortunate so I guess I will just pop these now lol so I can finally cross them off my stable
