Going from HPS to LED. Worth it?

Ask anyone who gripes under the sun; it is anything but free.

I'm unconvinced sunlight is better; you can't regulate its brightness, spectrum, timing or regularity.

Just because cost of entry is low doesn't mean it's automatically the low cost option throughout the life cycle. I'll let you do the math.

Better quality and more yield- don't forget these in those numbers.

I have grown outside once....

LARGEST BUDS I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE

They were absolutely massive, dense like a rock....I mean WOW.

I must say though the potency was not there...that could have been because it was never in total darkness, street lights nearby and other lighting was always on it...

but damn....that plant was a real champion.

The potency is the same IME given everything being equal re the strain and grower, and as for free, it is if blood, sweat and tears is free, IMO its not. Quality is dependant on the skill of the grower IMO. I actually prefer the taste of hydro :). Now I have no clue about COB, doubt it's better than the sun but I would be a fool to say it is without actually trying. Monetary wise, well yes do the math lol.

Both nears as I can deduce from this thread, I did learn that an 80 watt COB is compatible to a 600 if it's an 18" tent though lol.
No, but my 225W COB LED module beats the piss out of a 400W HPS.

I'm testing three 4' long 250W LED bars over a 4x6' space, it's looking like an even match with 1150W DE HPS on paper and I want to see how it stacks up IRL.

I'm sure it's got its benefits and yup can't wait to see for myself, I just found out I'm poor at about 2am so may have to wait lol.

Led has a higher startup cost but you save money on your monthly electric bill and bulb costs over time...
Going from open grows all my life to a completely closed in tent has been a real eye opener for me.. way less heat from cobs...I wish they had em 40 years ago..

A lot of hps growers disagreed and posted some pics no led can beat earlier on, things have now turned one sided again though....
