Going from HPS to LED. Worth it?

Hi there guys, i've been lurking the forums for years and now left the shadows in order to ask for some guidance.

I've been growing with 600W HPS for a while now, on a 3x3 tent, yields have been always good, 9 plants => 14 oz.

Now i'm thinking investing some dough on LED, and a bigger tent. The idea is:

5x5 Tent
450 off-the-wall Watt Full spectrum LED, chips are COB, 120° lens (http://www.piranha.cl/iluminacion-cultivo-indoor/16/led-cultivo-piranha-tesla-t810w.html) its in spanish sorry :c.

Will this be a real upgrade in terms of quality/yield? should I look for other types of LED?

I grow exclusively with leds anymore. I've used all sorts of leds I own about 11 different ones and I'm supposed to get two new ones to try this week. If your growing style is locked down and all other aspects are good leds will serve you well. I can tell it epistle leds so those are iffy but I'm all about trying new lights. I use my kinds all the time when I'm not running cobs.

I've got a 5x5 tent picked out, a carbon scrubber and fan, and some COB LED's. I can't grow where I'm at now but I hope to be moving soon to a better place.

Cob leds are the newest technology and the best lights are DIY projects.. you can build a much better light than you can buy.. Do some research on cob leds and spend wisely...

Now don't come in here saying LEDs have better coverage their footprint is comparable but hids still win overall in that dept. depending on lenses you use even then it's spread is less than hids. Go peddle your wares elsewhere

I hate to be negative nancy, but it seems like a very unsound idea to go from the golden standard of light to something that's new, higher upfront cost, and less reliable. Just my 2 cents. HID for life.

I mean your almost getting a pound out of a 3x3 tent, so your canopy is probably smaller then that. Id say your doing great with your 600 watt HPS, fun times to try other types of lighting though!!!!!! You never know maybe you'll get more.

get a 1000w hps, that led you listed is questionable, its not a top of the line cob led it might work good but it might be a waste of money.

here's a tip why don't you supplement your hps with led first see they say both together is the best but for me hps is so cheap why bother with full led grow.

People on this forum are smashing hid flowers with cobs. Its not even close. Led cobs are by far superior to hid.
Not my 2 cents but fact. I run hid hps n lec.

How new is new? Led has been around for decades.

Higher up front coast doesn't seem to be stopping sales at the Cadillac dealership. Maybe you're getting something worth paying for?

Who said all led was less reliable than light bulbs? Why do you believe them?

Your yield is very good for a 3x3. If you're running HPS only, adding UV is the best thing you can do to improve quality.
I get good results in a 5x5 with a mix of MH, HPS, cheap LED side panels, and CFL lizard lights for UV.

Peeps said leds smash hps, even if he was to upgrade to a 5x5 and hit 14oz with his current hps he should easily hit 20oz with a true 600watt led and not pay a penny more in electricity.
