I'm no expert; maybe an organic grower can chime in here, but I would say it is very likely that a flush of organic nutes is not as necessary as with chemicals. It sounds logical, but I have no idea.

As for the molasses, it's best to use blackstrap/unsulphered molasses. Sulpher dioxide is added to your regular run-of-the-mill molasses which acts as perservative and uses younger sugar cane, as I understand it, and could harm your plants. The unsulphered/blackstrap is more or less organic and procured form mature sugar cane. It's just healthier not to add sulpher to your soil.
