I haven't been doing any CO2 enrichment. The cheap little tricks might work, but they are difficult if not impossible to control. For what I'm doing, I don't see the need and when it comes to optimization there are other things I could do. It is on my list, but it is one of the very last things for me to consider.

i got mine any where from 18-24inches away depending on how hott it is. just get them as close as possible without making it to hot.

good solution to that is to have a fan blowing air across the tops of your plants cutting the heat with the wind

Hey all, sorry for the lack of updates. I've been pretty busy, but will have some new pics up tonight when the light goes on. Had some problems, unfortunately... I nute burned a couple of my plants, one pretty bad. I don't know WTF happened, although chances are I spaced and added one too many syringes (5mL) of nutes. I must have been borderline on my nute dose already, argh!

GMoney: I have my light 10-12" from the tops of the plants. The entire time I have had a fan blowing across the space between the light and tops. Haven't had any problems with the heat.

Edit: Plant problems are described here

Flowering, day 42...

Well, I was doing good. I'm not exactly sure how it happened, but I do believe I nute burned the shit out of at least two of my plants. Not cool.

I'm thinking I got distracted while measuring out the nutes and put in an extra dose. Not sure though, I just noticed they were fawked up about three days ago. They were all flushed with 3 gallons of water, now I'm hoping for a bit of recovery. It looks a bit bleak, though. Any input on whether they're salvageable or not would be great. The damage doesn't seem to be spreading, and there does seem to be new growth on the colas, but this is such horrible timing. Just when everything is supposed to be kicking into final gear and fattening/trich'ing up nicely, I go and do this. Live and learn, I guess... here's to hoping they recover... although I don't think the yield will be what it could have been.

Anyway, here are some pics for you! I'm off for now, be back tomorrow. (No, those stringy white things in some pics aren't mold, they're cat hairs.)

They look GOOD, a little over nut isnt that bad and it looks kike they mostly just got a bit leaf curl and little burn, they can use the extra nutes at this point in their life anyway.

OK, that is a relief to hear that. They seem like hardy plants but I don't know just how much stress they can take. And yeah, I'm quite happy with the development in the last couple weeks :)

Hey man sounds like you got a pretty legit setup in the works. I'm actually planning on doing something similar up very soon I have a 400W MH but I was wondering how you deal with the heat? And I'll definately continue watching the grow.

I have intake and exhaust fans (a set of 2 3" computer fans on each), and then another fan (8" or 9") blowing in the space between the tops of the plants and the lamp.

OK. The plant I took pics of, burnt and curled, is continuing to decline. I don't see any new growth any longer on the main colas, and the leaves continue to dry out. It seems to be mainly on the upper part of the plant, as there is new growth on the bottom half. I'm really thinking about just chopping the top half right now while some of it is still green, it doesn't look like it is going to come back.

Edit: Just checked out the badly burned plant. Every leaf on it is curling or drying up to some extent, and I see no new growth. The main colas on all the other girls have some white hairs, this has none. It's getting the chop, but not until tomorrow.

it takes a while to reccover after a shock like that. keep watering her. mabe flush her again. ps im a new suscriber. great job so far
Thanks man :)

I just watered her tonight, I might give her a couple more days but it is not looking good. Many of the fan leaves have either fallen off or completely dried up. My instinct tells me that this one isn't going to recover, but like I said: I'll give her a couple more days. If I see no improvement at all, chop chop! I'd rather harvest one plant a bit early than watch it turn to dust waiting for it to recover.

your plants look robust and strong, i have a feeling that she will make a big improvement in a couple of days. or im wrong and ur wasting water lol. i killed 2 crops with trial and error(lots of errors due to bad advice and not having riu)and ur one nute burned plant diddnt look half as bad as the ones i killed.
