I'm not so concerned with the fan leaves dying as I am with the colas themselves turning brown and crispy, but everyone is telling me to wait it out so I'll give her a few more days. Thanks y'all :)

well its been a few days. did u end up salvageing her? or is it a total loss?
It isn't a total loss, but I ended up killing her. I gave her until yesterday to make some improvement, but nothing happened. The other plant that got burned still has some scorched leaves, but the colas have quite a bit of new growth on them and are expanding nicely. The one I've been wondering about has zero new growth and the colas aren't doing anything. I see new growth in a couple spots on the lower end of the plant, but that was also there about a week ago and hasn't changed since.

Here are some quick shots before I commence the chopping and trimming, I'll post some of the manicured colas in a bit.

Here it is, all chopped up and trimmed. The two stems on the left have been hanging for four days now, they were the most brown and looking bad so they had to go early.

Turns out I made the right choice. The stems were rotting from the inside out, there was no bringing this one back. Oh well, I've still got four healthy girls :) I didn't bother weighing anything, I'll post results as it dries. Just eyeballing it and trying to picture it all dried and in a bag, I'm guessing this is somewhere between 14g and 28g dried.

Earlier today, I tossed that first plant into a jar to cure a bit.

I've smoked maybe 2 or 3 grams so far, with a couple good friends. It has very little smell until it hits the grinder, and then it gives off a dank odor that is somewhat sweet. There also isn't much taste when taking a rip, but on the exhale it tastes similar to how it smells, which is quite pleasing. The high is nice and smooth, especially on the comedown which is not sleepy at all. Not much couchlock either, which suits me just fine. The buds aren't as dense as I'd like, but keep in mind this was about two weeks premature.

I bought a little lens from Harbor Freight today ($1.99 for a unit with a 20x and 30x lens that you can stack!) and checked out the trichs on what I harvested. The two branches I harvested earliest had a few cloudy trichs here and there. Ones harvested about a week later looked to me like there were nearly all cloudy, with an amber one here and there. Once the lights go on tonight, I'll be checking the rest of the girls.

Harvest time approaches... I can't wait! It feels so good to be smoking something I grew myself :bigjoint:

Checked the trichs on the remaining ladies. My eye is not very practiced, but I don't see anything that looks even remotely like an amber trich. Plenty seem cloudy, though. Is the difference that noticeable?

Today is also day 57 of flowering, so they should be all ready to get chopped within the next 10 days or so :bigjoint:

I'm going to hang-dry in a closet. One fan on the bottom to circulate air, and I'll give it a couple minutes worth of space heater a few times a day. With the door open about two inches, I can still feel a pretty good airflow coming out so circulation won't be a problem.

As for curing, it's going into glass jars. I don't have exact plans as for how long, just whenever I deem it ready. I will likely set a little aside for an extended cure to try and settle for myself whether or not extended curing is worth it.

I'll get some pics tomorrow, got distracted with the election tonight.

Also, I've been thinking of just chopping maybe the top half of the plants and letting the lower buds develop a bit more. Has anyone had any experience with this?

sounds like chopping the top half when ripe will mean that the bottom ones are ripe also wouldnt? so if you leave them they will over ripe or loose pontency, unless you chop the top half when trich are milky white or like 25% amber then let the bottom ripe to 50% amber or as mush as you wish. but them idk im just guessing from what ive read online. but thats my input. please correct me if im wrong.

Holy slacking on pictures. I just keep getting busy in the evenings.

Final weight for the one early harvest plant is 22.1 grams. Looking at the amount in an eighth, I can say that I have easily smoked 3.5 grams, probably closer to 6 or 7. Even with a conservative estimate, that puts me at just about an ounce for that one plant.

I'll take it! :bigjoint:

Good job man I knew you would make it.

GIVE US PICS =)
Ask, and ye shall receive :weed:

This is day 59 of flowering. There are several different looks to the colas, for sure. One is really dense with few leaves, others are more 'normal' looking and another, like the one in the 6th and 8th pictures, has some weird trich-covered leaf formation for the colas. The very last two are some kinda-focused extreme closeups that I managed to get while messing with the $1.99 Harbor Freight 50x lens I picked up. The first one is of the very top of the leaf-cola plant, the second is a random cola. Pretty cool, I think! I'll be playing with this more in the future for sure. When checking them out with the lens, I've seen one trich that could have been amber. There are a few clear ones here and there, but the majority of them are cloudy. Harvest time approaches

Enjoy the pics!

lookin ace mate! :joint: >>>
Thanks man! It's kind of crazy, it only seems like a few weeks ago that I had little seedlings sitting on my windowsill. Now I've got four fully mature ladies waiting to deliver ounces of herbal goodness to me, woo!

I do have one complaint: It doesn't matter if I put these buds into a grinder or use the shot glass/scissors method, as soon as it gets broken up it starts sticking to itself like crazy!

Ahhh well, I guess I'll just have to deal with it :eyesmoke:
