[QUOTE="travisw, post: 10817294, member: 619302"]I've never heard of someone watering everyday.
I've got a couple girls in 8 gallon pots that are 3' tall and 4' across. In full sun. They need watering every day. Twice a day sometimes if the humidity is low and the wind blows. All my ornamental plants and most of my veggie garden gets watered daily when it is this hot and dry. Lower midwest Ozarks.

So now you have heard about it.

yup temps are 90-110 here in florida and that black pot she was in? What?! she dried up quick, like a french whore. 1 gallon a day was before I transplanted. Now shes in a white bucket that is 2 gallons bigger and some fresh ammended soil to help her finish this last month. Now she only needs water every other day.

yea come to think of it who ever said "ive never heard of watering daily" and that I was overwatering because of it. get this, I tried to skip a day of watering because you said i was overwater. Well after the end of the skip day, without water ALLLLLL her leaves were wilted and felt like they were limp and dead. So i quickly watered her from the bottom and little from the top to get her revived back quick, but if i didnt check on her that day she might have been to far underwatered to recover.

So everyone read this... Before giving advice, make sure you know what the fuck your saying before you hit the "post" button. PEACE.

I think it's something many overlook and give no thought about. I just searched black pots for the heck of it. So yeah you were literally cooking your roots.

A week or so ago in NorCal, we had temperatures in the 80's for a few days.

Milwaukee Laser Temperature Gun Infrared Thermometer

My arm = 91 F
Visiting sister's little dog = 92 F
Bedroom wall = 77 F
Toilet Bowl = 72 F
Toilet Water = 69 F

Brick structure in the garden = ~ 119 F
Ground soil/pepper bed = ~ 80 F
Leaves on pepper plants = ~ 83 F

#15-Gal Black pot with a Lemon Tree in it = ~ 147 F !!!!

Do you have this one? I got it from harbor freight. I did test the outside of my black bucket before I transplanted and it read around 105° F!!! So I used a white sheet around my bucket before I decided to transplant into my bigger white bucket. That laser temp gauge is the best thing everyou can even test the temperature of the leaves and buds!! And the leaves and buds are usually a lower temperature than the outside temperature believe or not test it yourself..20140830_234226.jpg

On 80 degree sunny days the temperature on the black plastic pots can reach 150 degrees F from what I've read. 115 Degrees outside? I'm sure that pot got insanely hot.

fortunatly the roots looked fine when i transplanted a week ago but if i were to leave her in the black pot things would have gotten worse before they got better. no the 115 temp was yesterdays temp, as of now shes in the white bucket, not the black bucket anymore.
