Run the two lamps next to each other and let the plants tell you, then.
Its the same thing bro. Its all over the boards here. Un less the flowers you are growing right now under your cob lights look completely better then the other beautiful cob fixture grows on this site its all the same. Are your fixtures giving you more yield per less watts? Probably. Are your buds better then the next guy using hps? Of course not. Are your plants growing healthier then then next guy because of your fixtures? Of course not.

No, I ran my side by side with HPS vs 860W CDM Allstart lamps.

The plants responded better, grew faster and put out more frost than the HPS.

Without some type of partition or are you talking just hang a couple lights next to each other and go with it?
I've seen people doing "side by sides" and they compromise the whole experiment by running two different lights that overlap each other in one room.
It's usually LED vrs HPS and as where the led are pretty directional the hps not so much so the plants on the led side usually got the benefits of a little added hps so it would have to be too controlled for my taste.
Then there's that one video you pointed out where the warehouse grow does a side by side with those spydr led , the de were hung ridiculously high and the led brought down as far as they possibly could. All the variables involved in doing a side by side with a precise outcome just isn't feasible.
I got a side by side for you though. it won't be until winter......if it ever ends :/
Your vertical hanging 860 against the same 4k DE MH, I believe the DE will toast that 860.

Just put the 860W Allstart on a LFSW ballast. Then you'll have a fight on your hands, lol

I feel like I drove a Lamborghini to a Chevy only car show.

It's better, but no one wants to acknowledge it.

Y'all keep playing with your cams and gear ratios, but you'll never be better with the old tech.

Without a doubt that's where that lamp belongs. On the platinum.
I stuck a blue in the melonhead and put a baddass on it, wanted to see the affect of dimming to 500, it changed my mind about dimming the 860.

Remember that nug of charms vum whipped out up at your place and we looked at under your glass? HPS all thru flower.

Well nevermind, I just looked at the current curing charms under my scope and figure it's just as frosty and the yield was actually better but there were other variables too. They had a DE hps halfway thru flower until the shitty phantom DE broke, that's when I put the allstart and platinum up.

Sorry for all the spam and differing opinions in the middle of your thread first, should have took it to dissent.
The really neat thing about it is we all keep cool heads , differing opinion or not. The way it should be.
No name calling, no judging . Just discussing shit with differing opinions.
I could be changing my fucking res out right now but I find it more.......trying to think of the word, oh yes, enjoyable to sit and relax and discuss differing opinions.
Fuck res changes.

Update later tonight with pictures.

pH probe frayed again on my meter so had to order a new one. Got 7 more months out of it than the last probe. Made it a full year. Not bad. Paid $10 more thru amazon prime so I could get it in 2 days. Gonna order a backup cheaper off ebay since time isnt important.

Chopping pgsc x yeti og soon.

Growershouse got back to me to let me know the ballast I returned works fine for them. Talking about it could be my bulb and if I want to order a new bulb thet can package with the ballast. Im thinking I got a notice last week saying the ballast was shipped already. Fuckers better not have been lying. Supposed to be here tomorrow and I really need to flip whats in veg now but need an extra light to keep the clones in veg.

My veg is getting so overgrown. Screen cant hold this shit down. Backed them down from 1.7EC to 1.5EC. Eating like champs still.

So they drop a restocking fee on me and offer as an alternative me paying the shipping which is cheaper. I say no and we settle on splitting shipping
Ill never go thru those fucks again.

Guy was saying normally they test returns before they send out replacements but was doing me a favor sending a new before receipt. They also charge you for diagnostics on the non defective units and make u pay for shipping back.

Im the customer. If it doesnt work as described for me, the one whose house could catch on fire, then that should be it. Not my fault they cannot replicate the issue.

New one didnt make the noise when Ibwas on the phone with them but I fired it up again later and it made that noise. Lame. Also the one that was working solidly for the past 3 weeks 24/7 i finally ahut down and restarted after some cool down time to find it makibg that noise as well. I let it run and the noise went away once the bulb and ballast warmed up.

Weird. I also left the new one running and the noise went away as well.

On the CMH thread on icmag pthers were saying theirs were making like a buzzing hum noise so maybe this is normal?

What do you light guys think? @ttystikk @dbkick

Aside from I should go COB LED and get a sun system? Just dropped 5gs on new windows for the house and dont have the cash for that and I just bought these from a place who sucks at returns apparently.

They are stretching like mofuggas.

Not a big fan of the strain already. Its almost doubled in height and its just started budding. slow onset.

Definitely like my girl scout cookie haze better.
