Dogs and pot...safe or not?

My dog has found out she likes to sneak a bud here and there off the table. The other day I found her chewing on a stem. She's a small dog, around 11 pounds.

Some people I know feed their dogs weed generously and while I don't ever foresee me feeding it to her, is there any danger of her gnawing on stems or eating the occasional dropped bud?

Do any of you have stoner dogs like I do?

My dog loves herb. He stole his first nug off the couch when he was a pup.
He seems fine, for a retard.
He chews up my branches after harvest too!

Shouldn't be a problem. Dogs get stoned too and most mamals probably will. I once had a crazy little Degu (a kind of squirrel thing). It was not very tame so one evening i blew some smoke gently into it's small hide and after some minutes the animal got sooo stoned. Exactly like a cartoon drawer would do it. His eyes got lazy and he actually for the first time let me pet him - even rolled on the bag to pet the tummy. So i think the dog will be ok. Only concern would be the sharp hairs that also grow on the plants. These are known to be able to cause pain in the stomach of humans. Dog's stomach is very different so don't think it would be a problem for the dog either.

Your dog is not going to get high. You can't eat bud and get high, you need heat to carbolyze the THC so your body can use it. Other than that there is no problem if your dog eats it.

Dogs don't have cannabinoid receptors in their brain like we do. The lethargy and strange mood a canine exhibits after receiving a bong hit isn't the same as we experience. I can't get inside my pup's head to see if she's uncomfortable or not when I "get her high" so my preference is just not do it. All the dogs I've had over the years, however, have an affinity for pot plants.They love taking a romp through the garden, rubbing against the trees and gently gnawing.

You can definetly get high from eating it. You have to swallow it without getting hardly any saliva on it. They even sell lip balm that gets you high when you use it so you could i guess put it on a dog or..........A CHINCHILLA!!!!

I've heard it'll kill them if they have just a small amount so I keep mine away from it...

Are you sure? I'm asking because my friend's dog once ate some leftover cake worth 5 grams of great hash. If the dog did not recept the cannabinoids he was definitely having a bad allergic reaction from the cake becaus he was STONED. He could not walk straight. First we didn't know what was wrong with him and drove to the vet. Then the buddy called about his missing cake. So how does the dog get REALLY stoned if he doesn't have the cannabinoid receptors?

Hi-jack coming...So one night at a little get together at my friends place for his birthday...were rolling an eight in a blunt, cops knock at the door, his dad is on probation and they can come in the house if they want at any time, we stash the rolling tray under the bed and get out the back door and over the fence into the neighbors yard...we come back about 30 minutes later...the dog ate ALL the dank and left ALL of the tobacco. That night the dog was running all fucking over the place and jumping over the furniture, humping fucking everything....good night except for the loss of a what was to be a sweet blunt.

Great to keep them away from it - i do too, but they won't die from it.

Its only great to keep them away from it cause they will fucking eat all of it. I have had cats that everytime I grabbed the bong they came up to get some second hand.

I had a lab and a Rottweiler that loved to get stoned. I caught the lab once eating what was the remnants of a recently purchased oz. I was not at all happy with her and I refused to get her high for weeks after.... The Rottweiler continued to burn with me however.

You're missing the point. They don't get "stoned" as we know it. They may get drowsy and thirsty but they don't feel the effects like we do is what I am saying.

dogs eat grass, cat poop, other animals poop, scraps off the floor, more grass ,spiders, birds, anything you name it doesnt harm the animal

my friend and i baked chocolate pot brownies once and my friend hid them under his bed in tupperwear, his dog is a medium sized dog anyways the dog chewed through the tupperwear and ate THE WHOLE PAN of brownies we made, the dog was fucking stoned as we know it so i disagree with the statement above us she couldnt walk her eyes were like a china mans, she was so high his mom was like wtf you give the dog and hes like she ATE all my chocolate weed brownies, anyways the dog slept it off for like 12 hours

edit : i dont condone people who get their animals high animals are naturally attracted to smell when they sniff a flower they dont go oh what a pretty rose smell they go oh this has been here this peeded here this bumbleebee landed here, so for people to say my animals like to come around when i get high so i blow smoke into their face i dont agree with it since dogs have like 150 more smelling things in their nose (not sure what its called lol) then we do so they dont just smell pot they smell a lot of different things and dogs and cats by nature are very curious animals
