Do Small Rootballs Always Mean Small Plant Harvest

weighed in at 68gms including the stems, which are probably less than 5 gms, plus the trim

You neg posters probably smoke that in a day, which explains your comments

your rootball is small because the environment it's in is unhealthy.
Now we're getting somewhere. Thanks for making me think about why you would/could be right!

My house is prone to mosquitos getting in. Had a big problem a year ago with them laying eggs that got into the root system, hence the lids

Summer heat and humidity doesn't help when using the lids

3 gallon totes with lids could be too humid for the roots. On one lid I have second 1" net pot peek-a-boo hole, which would allow for better breathing, but did not use it this time. And with cooler months almost here it may not be a factor until next summer, but can't hurt to add to each tote

I could also line the entire bottom of the 3 g totes with rocks, which would increase surface area for roots to crawl on by ~ 30%.

I was also thinking to go with 5 gallon totes, but that increases nutrient cost + bigger rez by ~ 50%, but if it increases yield by 30%+(and improves root quality), it would be worth it

Thanks again

Dude, I dont know what you are trying to prove with this post but I would not consider anything in your pics a success or anything other growers should try and replicate. Your overall plant health is terrible and it looks like you harvested a month too early.
Google "Coco Trees IC" if you want to see some multi lb plants in 3 gal pots.

instead of changing alot of variables all at once, try one at a time. keep your same setup, ditch all the organic crap you use, and try running a sterile reservoir. i guarantee your roots will look way better than that. then move up to a 5 gal setup since bigger roots means bigger fruits.

we're not trying to bust your balls but rather point out that the rootball is small for a reason, not just random.

Impossible to see due to the dark brown color
Your Pics in your first post looks like you had root problems, the plants look sick. Maybe it's all the organics clogging the roots from uptaking nutrients. Don't know really what to tell you. I average over 4 ounce a plant in 2.5 gallons of coir with less than 30 days of veg.

Yesterday afternoon I cut a 1" netpot size hole in the back, inserted a net pot with a coco clone plug to minimize light but allow air to escape

I will flush the tote, replace the nutes and just use NPK RAWs Bloom nutrient to finish. This plant has ~ 3 weeks left and has been exhibiting Ca deficiency. I upped the CaMg and sprayed the leafs with diluted Kelp (never had yelowing to this degree)

Flushed the crap out of the plant and made fresh NPK RAW Bloom nutes sans microbes, kelp, humic

The burned leafs in the back were too close to the light bar

Upped the CaMg to solve the yellowing leafs

I'm trying to understand why you keep adding all that stuff together for a nutrient cocktail. 40+ years of growing this fine herb, one thing I've learned is the plants will grow fine with just a base NPK + micro's.

this guy has been a member for 8 years and he thinks that plant above is awesome. I'm starting to think he is trolling, no one can be serious about that with that many years of growing.
