My set is all automatic and I run to waste system. I run 50 litre pots and I run a second timer which I feed 4 time a day for 15 seconds a feed them that for 3 to 4 weeks in veg. These plants are 13 days in to flower and are drinking 10 litres a day each with very little waste. I just checked my run off its was going 850 ppm and going in at 950 ppm DSC01203.JPG

Yes my run off was 1800 and higher but I was putting in ~1000 ppms. This leads to my next question for you. So I just transplanted my clones to bigger pots, 5 gallons with tupur. Now I am watering with 1 gallon of water and getting sufficient run off. When I test my run off it's about 1500 ppms and the ph is around 6.8-7. Now I am watering with about 500 ppm solution and ph of 5.8 so I don't know why it's so high? This is why I asked before if I needed to rinse tupur before use because my run off has been so off and it's only been two feedings since I transplanted. I am wondering why it's so hot out of the bag. I did notice a mag deficiency and watered with epsom salt today but on a couple of my strains I am noticing some weird growth that looks like a ph problem. I am going to water every day until it fixed but I know I can get away with watering every other day while they're in veg. Anyways have you noticed anything like I described when you used tupur?
Tupur runs hot in the The beginning but it's not anything to worry about it will get better quick it's something that they put in it that shows up on your meter .You will probably never get to 5.8 in a runoff. As a matter a fact runoff is really useless in coco unless you think you are way over feeding . It can show you that to some extent. Epsom SALT is still salt just keep that in mind . Go light on it. Use liquid mag for best results or even raw makes a powdered mag but I've never used it. I used 2 mls per gallon every other water with the mag until week3 flower and my plants were perfect . Even a touch too green sometimes but that's personal preference not nute probs.

What should the ppm of my run off be when I water usually? I'm at 400 ppms and slowly creep up until I start to flower. Should it be right around whatever solution I put in or should it be less?

So I'm running into a problem in veg now. I just increased my feedings to around 600 ppms and I have been adding a cal mag supplement to my H&G base nutes. I'm wondering if I'm putting too much calcium in now. This almost looks like too much nitrogen or mag deficiency. My run off is about 500 and the ph going in is 5.8 always. I did water and foliar feed with a epsom salt solution, hoping that helps. Any tips on what this could be?

For the 10th time now stop using the calmag and use mag only NOT Epsom salt you are not growing organic and salt is salt. If you stop the cal and use only mag at 2 ml a gal this will all go away :) that's it . There is your answer again

So if a salt is a salt why is not epsom salt not sufficient enough? Yes yes you told one other time before but my base nutrients were lower so I thought I should add the cal mag but I guess there was enough cal in the medium. So am I right about the problem above? Do those pictures look like a mag deficiency? What about a that leaf curl, is that an issue with elevated levels of Nitrogen?

Yes that looks like the start of mag def. that nute line runs pretty good on the calcium . You will get it bro . Just keep at it .

Hey everyone I need some help with a problem that occurred. I am growing in Gold Tupur and coco based medium, and I am starting to notice these brown spots on some strains. My base nutrients are house and garden coco nutrients and I am also using cal mag plus. My first reaction was a cal mag deficiency but these spot seem a little different. Also these plants are almost two weeks into flowering and in veg I never ran into a problem. My ppms are around 1000 and ph is always around 5.7- 5.9. I am getting concerned because I have noticed this issue on only two strains both different but starting to see changes in the others. Please any help will be greatly appreciated.
was that light close to a bulb? looks like how my veg plants do when they been touching a T5

Phosphorus? Deficiency due to limited uptake as a response to ph that is not letting the plant get what it needs look for the graph online that showes nutrient uptake by ph

This is toxicity of some sort or another maybe to much salt my first guess would be n but with all the Epsom salt and shit it's definitely to much salt all together give it just water for a week as need then start a quarter strength fert I usually feed feed water if the leaves curl down give em another watering be for u feed I only increase nutes when the bottom yellowing does not stop with continous feedings

Thanks for the insight and I have come to the conclusion that I was watering to frequently. The roots systems wasn't developed enough to be watering that much. I let them dry out a little and they started to perform better. How ever when I did water them my run off was pretty high like around 900 ppms when I was giving them around 600 ppms. They also were showing a real mag deficiency but the new growth looks a lot better but not as fast as I would like.

When your run off is higher than what u put in your plant is not using every thing you have given it

During certain sub-stages, plants will excrete root exudates. They might increase runoff TDS. Runoff tds measurements are extremely arbitrary, because they vary, not only according to the presence or absence of root exudates, but are completely dependent on the volume of water irrigated.
I think a more efficient technique than measuring runoff pH or TDS is to feed conservatively, observe plant response and develop a clinical eye tailored to the variety grown in a specific environment. Sure, it takes more work...but it yields better results.
