Choosing a rosin press

I was reading it would be fine for rosin and its actually a good way to turn poor stuff into top stuff. I did not taste anything different in this batch, tastes the same.

I use 2” wide bags I just cut them short and only put 3.5gs flower in it to avoid blow outs. That can even happen on the way I do it as is so I add a wee bit less pressure if I already am at 3.5 gs and seems to be fine.

Pucks seem to be rang out like a rag that was once wet. I feel like Im using the rig to full capacity, was actually tough to get to the last few tons.

I would add more but it blows out easy. When first starting I only did 7gs no less but the last few presses all blew out and was devistated.

Even when hand packing the micron bags so its not the speed loader. Its ok if some thc and meds are left behind, I can tell it aint much and just adds to the edibles so its not wasteful.

Im huge on baking been doing it for a while and to see it works with rosin chips is awesome, cant do that with bho.

This was a lot of work for 21gs. Im aiming to do 60-110gs every 9 weeks and this will be a lot. Alot of work. Last couple qps triggered the oh snap can I actually do this type of thoughts.

And theres no way around that like a bud trimmer for trim jail. Deseeding would of been too much. I did this last one slow but doing 2gs at a time was great. But still could take 2 days…

I hope this plant doesnt let me down. I wonder if the bud trimmer knocked additional kief off enough to yield a little less. Or letting it ripe 2-3 weeks longer than the last sample that yielded 20% no seeds.

I want to setup shop and wait a bit. Put up another 2x2 and re initiate my 2x2 show grow journal to keep pheno hunting. Not being lazy I really thought/still think this is a keeper. It raised the standards.

Now I want the same thing but no nanners.

What got me through this time is being 15% return aka worth the time and just imagining all the money im making and get to enjoy aka the point of home grown. Love getting high on my own supply!

The ability to make high quality edibles out of trim without bubble hash will b nice for me. Plus making my own carts and dabs. Will definitely pAy for it's self fast.

I built a 20 ton for about $400....Been using it for 2+ years and have pressed several pounds through it by now.

Harbor Freight press on sale, and Chinese plates from Vevor, although I just looked on their site and didn't see them.

did you build that little box for the temp controllers? I'm modding my nugsmasher xp to have dual plate heat controllers and want to have something sleek like yours

So I just calculated if I do this routinely, it would be from .6 cents to 11.5$ a gram is a 1800% increase just about? Thats crazy. But summer time gets expensive so maybe 1$ a gram rosin being 1000% increase buying from store.

Maybe that kind of math just makes it seem like a lot but it is. A gram rosin will be roughly equal to one cigarette.

This is farming though, lots of work involved. Out of everyone I knew that smoked, wasnt anyone interested in it. Heck Im still realizing how much work it is and debating if I have what it takes.

40 presses every 10 weeks 1.5ibs. I was saying earlier in thread Im not smoking pounds a month in wax form but I totally am lol. But now its dirt cheap. Saving over 300 a month. Thats the main motivator.

That's the standard control box you get when you buy plates separately. Mine is the same, but from The Press Club. I think the gold ones are DabPress brand? Same stuff, different colors.

Just wanted to say thanks guys, I held out and didn't jump on the good deals for smaller presses. Instead I found this press brand new on ebay for 40% its normal price. still need to get a pump but im excited to learn with you all.
I woulda jumped on that as well, broke out my modded 6 ton today. All I did was new bolts and 12 ton bottle jack

After two weeks of pretty much dabbing straight home made only like .5gs store bought. Saved $200. Might dab it till its gone. Put savings away and count down the days until I vape only home grown.

Ive always spent rediculous amounts on weed, dont make alot of money I just live with room mates so we can spend more things we like. For me its weed.

Anxiously waiting for clones to root to get the show on the road. Goes to show nature is in control and dont care about your plans.

Also goes for yield, like yall saw you cant count on it. I have a complaint on my own product, its great but the taste I was obsessed with faded unlike last time. It buttered too unlike now. Stayed shatter like.

Willing to yield half gram less an ounce to preserve that. Potency might of degraded slightly from 3.5 mins high temp pressing which they say dont go longer than 3 mins.

Overall satisfied though, it held up to replacing store bought live resin. If I press better it should be even better. I downed quality for yield too much, it has that corn, AV weed, just that beat up rosin taste.

Its was not there before but am sure its the way I pressed it this batch. Its obvious why, just too long high heat exposure.

After 4 grams of better pressed batch vaping, it was crazy delicious Og kush pheno. So Im not losing sleep over it just dont go above 3 mins at 220F.

It looks the same as the good batch but ya, a bit too hard on it that time. The taste is there but quickly vapes away even at low temp dabbing. Kinda has good after taste but not like last time, it was through and through delicious.

Low temp dabs are where its at for me with flower rosin. 2 or 3x higher. I did that for most the batch but lately tried doing sesh mode (highest temp) larger globs.

Its faster and get dense vapor but less taste and 1-2 lung fulls. Low temp takes longer to vape but get 4 lung fulls or more but less dense vapor. But all that gradual exposure in low temp dabs.. Im baked!

Been a few days doing that and wow going right back to low temp. Sesh mode is great for live resin/bho but yea been wanting say that for a while.

If you want high quality flower rosin try this:
  • Use trimmed flower and remove stems
  • Don't add moisture with humidipacks etc. to the flower before squishing, if anything dry it out more
  • 37μ bag (25μ works as well)
  • 3.5g in a 2" bag for 3x6 plates, just well stuffed and fold in the opening, no bottle tech. Set the bag vertically between the plates and align the stitching to let the rosin flow out the front of the press. With bigger plates you can use bigger bags the same way.
  • Only squish one bag at a time
  • 158°F (70°C)
  • 1200 PSI (No pre-heat or slow ramp up, just get there in 10-20 seconds)
  • Squish for 2-5 minutes
  • Heat a glass jar with the rosin on the bottom plate (same temp) and whip it to get a nice batter consistency that's easy to use
  • Cure for a couple of weeks at room temperature
You can squish the rosin chips again a 2nd time at higher temp and pressure to get some second press rosin and/or use the chips for infusing cooking oil.
It's generally a lot easier to do 2 squishes and get 2 grades of rosin than trying to hit a single-squish quality/yield sweet spot.

Egg-sited. Just learned to stimulate it with one hand crunching it up and shuffling it around and boom, yields what Im still figuring out to be but its high.

I put the massager on my lap at same time hitting tray.

Re running same batch for 4th time still dumping kief and pure too, not just any particles. Bag weighs .27gs so I got 2.5gs and its still coming and have lots of trim left.

So Im looking at this kongs krush differently, it yields abundant sugar I just didnt know how to extract it.

About to press it after I go through all my trim and use the rest for edibles.I just keep tossing in freezer for 5 mins and dump on screened trim tray, hit it with a massage gun.
