Choosing a rosin press

Just note to myself I think packing the dry herb shelf full was making it dry slower than last time.

Because I basically bag tested start of day 6, on the next morning friday was too high rh so I opened bag in 35-40rh flower room conditions for 12 hrs, closed before bed 10pm so 10am next day will make for an accurate 12hr rh reading.

The meter was near bottom of bag buried in weed and it was as if it stayed reading accurate even with bag open. I was able to see it drop slowly to where I wanted it, sealed bag.

Then it dropped a couple points to 59rh which last time was 58rh considering when I salt tested meter it was basically short 5 points. So basically 64rh. Last time was 63rh so Im close.

Next time let it on dry herb shelf extra 24hrs and monitor temps so I can replicate that too. Or just do this as it does make it hard to miss target rh.

Yea seems like using less tons watching people press they need to put a lot of strength into it where as my 12 ton I use just under 2 tons but its effortless. Just like one said earlier in the thread.

The gauge I think is important to have. I was just kinda complaining to myself that the plates or platen dont need to be super large for just flower.

I could do 4 pucks at once but lately I been squishing everything out the pucks judging by how it looks when I collect it.

So like one said Id make better use doing one at a time for max results so most my platen is empty. Would be good for large hash bars but not looking like Ill use it for that any time soon.

The weed is ready to press. Just wakin up gettin ready to work my ars off.
Bigger plates hold the heat better. It's probably negligible, but that's a bonus!

Always look on the bright side of life

Thats a good point. I just feel like when collecting, it looks harsh towards the puck like very spotty from bubbles from the high heat. The best of it looks like the parts where it got to cool.

I think the rougher parts are whats turning it to shatter until it cures and nucleates. Idk. Im happy with it I just feel like I over sized and could if done fine with some thing a bit smaller.

Or feels like Im not using it to its full potential but if I actually am then thats cool.

Like the 10 ton or 8 ton version, I have no clue what they are I forget the other models. If thats true then thats pretty cool though.

It didnt really make a difference 220 bottom plate, actually got less back. .56gs. Getting fustrating, about to try 4 pucks at once if I get the same amount Im just gonna wrap this up.

I guess its pretty tough to get same results each time even from same plant. Long as its 15% its good though. This will take forever doing one at a time though.

Doing 4 pucks at once Im calculating 7.5 tons on press club calculator. Thats hard on the press isnt it? Its to get similar psi to what Im doing now.

edit note to self weed weighs 152gs or 5.4 oz after shedding some moisture to target zone. Still not bad.

Alright.. I got it allllll into rosin bags which took an hour or so. 35 bags. I folded all paper so I just press, press and press. Until I have about 20 gs which is the largest home grown home pressed ever made.

I could of done it before with the kongs krush but failed to trial until I am sure it couldnt yield anymore which i did now too.

Not quite 20% but what ever, its still good and getting used to doing 4 at once will speed things up.

Like for real, this could be named rosin jail as it takes longer than trimming. Now that I got the bud trimmer.

Huh last post was over an hr ago and only did one more.. Not sure where the time went just had a smoke break but just got done doing one. Went to smoke again fustrated, I did like 4 runs now and this one came out 1.77gs instead of 2gs.

So if pressing one at a time does give you more then that might be showing. Or the variances between branches of same plant is possible. Idk.

I think I ought to just grow a load of pot to make sure I can quickly whip up my bimonthly stash of rosin.

I mean, coming into this I was not liking going from rosin to bho or live resin store bought and wanted to do one or the other.

Ive been wake and baking with it into the afternoon and already saving so I got to look at it that way, I came a long way quick. This thread has all my progress.

Being able to get a load of rosin like I plan even if it goes lower yield than expected, I still am saving quite a bit. A good few gs bi weekly.

Just need to get the last of grow expenses off and will start getting better.

I'd deseed a set amount and press that...then press the same amount seeded. Never tried it. Would be interesting to hear what you find.
Personally...I'd probably take the time to just deseed it if it was important in my daily use.

I'm trying to work through using my Dulytek DW6000 to squish some bubble. I've squished a lot of buds with it...but it's one dimensional/up/down with no real adjustments so pressing hash may be a real learning experience. Haven't found any info on the Net so will probably just wing it and see WTF happens...LOL. Good luck with your run.
Dont press seeds. As i read your posts, you talk a lot about the taste of your rosin. Pressing seeds is the best way to make some rank tasting rosin. lol. I highly recommend you skip the test and do what normal humans do, and de-seed that weed!!
Another topic, go get you some 3’ bamboo sticks at your local grow shop. super cheap stuff. and some of that green plant tie thats rubber? stake up your branches before they start to fall and break. I use them during veg to open the plants up. then in flower it’s to keep them from breaking under the weight of all those fat, sticky & glorious flowers.

btw, i highly recommend you buy larger press bags, instead of doing multiple smaller ones at the same time. I have found press bags in all kinds of shapes and sizes. I press with 3x6 plates. so I use 2” wide bags. Get you the biggest width bags that fits on your plates. The pucks themselves keep some of our tasty rosin. You see it in the edges. And try as we may, some always stays with the puck. So, bigger bag, fewer presses, less waste. Dont go putting 4 small pucks where you could have put one big puck.
