ChemIndeuced's Short Rider Closet Grow (Soil, 400W HPS)

Yeh, Iv noticed from a few pics around the net that pheno differs (Some tall and some small and stocky like ours)
Well, I'v started my Journal - although my sig doesn't seem to be appearing on my posts at the mo - but its not that hard to find! just search for Short Rider ! LOL
Theres a few more pics on there of how she's taken to HPS ! Oh my gosh, she loves it!!

Beware Short Rider Growers, pruned some male parts today, less were on the LSTed plant, but it's hard to find them b/c it was just one little banana hidden in a bud cluster, I'm sure I didn't get them all. It shouldn't cause too much damage though. I bought mine feminized and out of the 3 that germed one was a male and two were at least part male...never buying Nirvana fem seeds again.

I ordered some more seeds for my next grow. 4 lemon skunks from DNA, 1 Blue widow and 1 Blue hash complimentary from Dinafem. I ordered them all feminized before I discovered the bananas, but they came in less than a week unlike the 3 weeks Nirvana took to get here.

I watered with a spoonfull of molasses boiled into the water yesterday to try and beef up my buds a little bit

So, Not only are they NOT autoflowering - they are all mostly Hermies aswell?!

I'v read too much about the Short Riders now, how do you think my 2 baby short riders would handle being switched to 12/12 along with my biggest next week? I know you can do a 12/12 from seed but these have already had an 18/6 start?!
My baby ones are 5 days old now, just showing their first 2 leaves - I know it would be a waste but I want them grown and gone so I can't start growing my Honey B from Barneys!
Good luck with your Lemon skunk - good choice - tried it in Amsterdam last year, apparently DNA won several awards for their version?!

If I was you I think I'd give them at least 4 more weeks on 18/16 because it took around 5 weeks for them to really start growing quickly and you want them to have enough places to grow bud from before they start maturing sexually.

Hello I am also growing feminised short rider at the moment. They are 40 days from seed the start of week 6 is this tuesday.

they have been grown under 24 hour lighting 600w HPS.

out of 9 seeds ive had one male at the end of week 3.

one which is autoflowering even under 24h/7d lighting. which started end of week 4 / 28 days this one was 14" tall and is now just a little under 2 foot.

i have 3 which are 3 foot tall they are probably hitting 39-42 inch now.

and the other 4 are all around 27-30 inch.

i reduced the lighting from 24hours a day to 16/8 to enduce flowering. This hasnt worked so i have dropping the lighting schedule down to 12/12.

i would consider opening a support ticket if you bought your seeds from

when i noticed a male i took a picture and opened up a support ticket. They were understanding and said it shouldnt be possible. They quickly sent out a replacement feminised short rider seed and 10 free seeds which was nice of them.


what would have been nicer is 10 feminised seeds which all autoflower regardless of lighting schedule as the website would have you believe.

i will stop by and keep you updated on how mine are going.

RedEye: I don't want to mislead you about yield so keep in mind it's just a wild guess on that. It being my first time taking a plant through flowering to harvest, I couldn't really say for sure, but maybe like an ounce to an ounce and a half by the time it's done. The one I did LST to has much better genetics to begin with though and is in better soil and hasn't really had any nute problems, so I'm hoping for closer to an ounce and a half or more from that one. Never guessed yield before though, so don't be surprised if I end up with much less or something.

Defiant: Good luck on your grow man. I'm pretty sure I was in such a rush to destroy the males that I didn't take pictures, but I don't really want more SR seeds anyways...I'm anxious to grow something new.

Sorry to hear bout the males. I hope you wacked em up and disposed of that crap in pieces. Did the one that turned out male get stressed a lot? I'm really surprised mine didn't ALL turn out male all the crap they've gone through lol, but im 99% sure they are all females at this point.. even the runt.

You also said they did not auto-flower?? Does that mean you switched to 12/12 at some point? Mine are getting close to the point where I would switch to 12/12 if they aren't going to "flower regardless of light cycle" like nirvana's website says! I'm with you on being anxious to grow something else, was a mistake to get a auto-flowering strain for my first grow lol. Had a bunch of overnuting issues too, going 1/2 and 3/4 of the regular, these little bitches are sensitive!

Anyway, your crop looks real good dude. Did you top them at all? I'm hopin mine turn out half as good my grow journal is in my sig if you want to check it out just updated it after 4+ weeks.

O yea, sorry for all the questions man but it's my first grow and having someone who is a few weeks ahead of me on the same strain is really helpful. Thanks again, sorry for hijackin your thread!

My biggest has confirmed that she is a she! I'v just given her a little bit of LST - they love it don't they ? LOL - 9 bud spots she's got!

Everything is status quo, they're fattening up a little bit. I've cut the nutes b/c they really are super sensitive to even half of normal strength. I'm flushing with molasses now and they should be done in about 9 days...I'm cutting them then regarless so I hope they are. I'm not gonna post any more pics until I have them finished curing. I'm getting a little paranoid lol. All is good though for the most part, the leaves yellowing are and dying, but that's normal near harvest.

I'll give some more updates when I cut them down.

Can I ask how you've come to this conclusion please Tony?

I'm not saying your wrong but there are a few people growing short riders (first time growers and experienced alike) Are you saying that all these people are stressing their plants too much?

Look man! We both know, that's not your thread! But what the hell, i will answer your question anyway! Follow me man! At this pic you can clearly see that this little fan isn't doing his work!!!

And now we go a little further!Look i had 400watt HPS light [without the cooltube!!!] in the small room! Space was 1,5mx1,5mx2,5m! And the heat was fucking to high!!!About 32-34C!!! and now my friend imagine what heat is in this small closet

I solved my temp. problems in that closet before I even started the grow...I would say it never got over 80-85 degrees in there and that's well within the tolerance of any normal plant. I would say it's usually about 75-80 degrees. It was never uncomfortably hot for me to be in there, so I know it wasn't too hot for my plants. I never close that door, so ventilation wasn't a problem at all...the fan was just in there to strengthen the stems and keep the plant from flopping over under it's own weight.

Don't make assumptions if you don't know the story man. Reports of feminized seeds turning herm are pretty widespread

Like I said before though, I kept it under pretty good control with careful pruning. It didn't ruin my grow or anything, it just made me pretty unsatisfied with the seed bank. They should do more work on their strains before claiming they're able to do anything special and putting them up for sale.

Yep i'm with chem nirvana is a fucking horrible seed company its totaly there fucking fault. No reputable seed company would ever mark there seeds as fem when there not..no i'm not talking about the hermie's. I'm talking about 100percent males ahhh, i had two that where males and i killed the other two cuz i'm not risking nirvana terrabad breading to fuck the rest of my plants.
