Cut my tree's today. One of them was 80% amber on the trichs and looked ready. The other one was about 25% amber - I'm going for two different highs with both of these plants so I wanted to cut one while the trichs were cloudy and one with amber.

So right now theyre hanging upside-down in my closet. I've a little bit about harvesting/curing but I would REALLY love to get some pointers and tips on how other people do it, so feel free to pwn this thread.

well the key is not drying to long or taking them down to early....i would dry them until the out side feels dry and than place them into the jar...another way to tell is to bend the stems and see if the crack or just bend if they crunch than put them into jar and let them cure for about 2 weeks and smoke down!!!

YUP, its hard the first time. Go by the stems IMO different buds will be dry before others. (big stems dry slower) When they crack but still bend(not break, but make noise when bending over) then put them in Jars. Burp jar twice a day for 1/2hr each time for first 3-5 days then once a day for about the same then just every other day or so. You will be able to tell the difference as it cures. :)

I've had mine hanging for about a week and the buds were REALLY dry, I kinda freaked out, I'm not sure if this is normal. The stems didn't crack when I bent them though....Do they regain moisture when you put them in the jars? Humidity was at 48-50% for the majority of the week,I think one day it went down to 38% and temp was level at 70-73 degrees. I did have a fan in there pulling in air from the outside but not directly blowing on any of my plants...

I popped in my humidifier over night in there to give em a little moisture...any help or advice on this would be GREATLY appreciated!

Put them in jars right away. Even if they are crispy after a week, they will regain moisture once jarred. Close them up tight overnight and they should be moist again by morning. Are you all read up on curing????

I did read up quite a bit, I just didnt expect them to get so crispy (great word). and hadn't heard anyone saying that they get that dry.

I probably shouldn't have put the damn humidifier in that room last night....Il let them dry out just a tad tonight and throw them in jars tomorrow....

When they first get crispy throw them in jars for 16 hrs. If they come out wet again take them out of the jar for half a day. Usually the outside gets crispy and then when jarred it will sweat and even out the moisture. You can have pretty damn good bud with 2/3weeks of curing.

Top44 is supposed to be very mold resistant.

I just aired my curing Top44 for your luck.

For what it's worth, mine dried fast and got a bit crispy, too. Mine also crashed fast during flush. Yours?

By crash do you mean the leaves started to get yellow and droppy? Mine took the flush pretty well, one plant just looked horriblebut the buds were fantastic so I knew it was time to cut. The other plant held its leaves pretty well during the flush but I knew it was time to cut.

Thanks for the reply everyone. I'm going to try and Jar these tonight or tomorrow. I'm glad to hear that they DO get crispy and eventually get moist again when you jar them...

So ill trim these fuckers tonight or tomorrow and throw em in a jar. Feeling much better cause I thought I fucked this grow up!

It sometimes happens that people over-dry. Basically if your bud turns into powder when you break it up you have gone too far. Keep them in jars and the moisture will work out from the inside. curing, is just a method of slowing down the last 10-15% of drying to bring out potency and definitely flavor. It is more common that people under dry than over, I am sure you will be fine, just get them in jars and let them sweat. :)

Thank you all for the feedback on my drying/harvesting. Saved my ass after I thought I over-dried the plants.

They look great, all trimmed, and sitting in jars now :)

TOTAL WEIGHT: 72g or 2.5oz :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Not bad for my first time and for 2 plants. I'm satisfied!

I would say Top 44 is a easy plant to grow for first timers. I was lucky to get a little over an Ounce per plant and for it to turn out so well. The quality of the plant isn't bad but I probably wouldn't grow it again since I'm through my first grow.

As for the Hempy Bucket method....I would say this was a REALLY REALLY easy method to grow. Now, I really don't have any grounding to really say this, since this is the only method I've grown from but what I can tell you is once I got the hang of it, it was virtually work free. I would basically prepare my water (nutes, ph...ect) and water the plants every 3-4 days. Every 3rd or 4th watering I would usually flush with plain water, then give it a light feed of nutes. From what I've read from other posts is even experienced growers who've used Hydroponic systems say Hempy is the way to go and the easiest to maintain. So thats my rant on Hempy Bucket, I would recomend it to anyone who hasn't tried it, saved me a LOT of money and the plant turned out great for a first grow (just check out the pics!)

I want to thank everyone who read this thread during my grow and gave feedback. I probably wouldn't have been able to sustain such a good grow without all the feedback and advice, so again, thank you!

I'll be in and out checking this thread, so feel free to ask any questions. Below are some pictures of the cuttings and final bud. I'll give a smoke report in about a month or so :bigjoint:

WTG, CC. Next time you'll have to get some spring-loaded scissors so you don't get a cramp trimming up the massive load you are going to get now that you have hempy down. Plus rep.:bigjoint:
