Cann's Organic No-Till Garden

My mother loves what you guys are teaching me she was taken aback that i was this knowledgeable pertaining to this subject. My mother grows outdoor wildflowers, herbs, and everything holistic in her organic gardens Im asking her what she does with her hose cause she pulls out of an artesian well thats hard as rock water lol. She mentoined growing a stinging nettle in the same pot as my plants for a neetle herb symbiotic relationship it seems im curious!

Lol cool.

I actually was experimenting with compainion plating last year, and sorta forgot that it works well.

My plant of choice was basil, as it's supposed to make plants around it increase essential oil production.

Plus the bummer crop of basil is win win.

My fear with the nettles is they will over compete! Plus they naturally grow in poor soil, so will probably shoot for the moon in any kind of fertile soil. But I do know they are excellent compainion plants, and have many beneficial characteristics, like mineral fixation, increase in oil production of nearby plants and attract beneficial bettles.

Yeah 3 lbs...why not??? Inoculated of course - the growth difference is staggering without rhizobia...

Nettle companion planting sounds sketchy indoors...don't want to brush up against that fucker while watering! I do however like the idea of companion planting - I was in a discussion the other day about companion planting and the potential flavor that it can impart upon other plants, e.g. lemongrass grown next to cannabis - somehow imparting a lemon flavor into the weed. Definitely an interesting concept...the science is definitely lacking though. There is however research that shows how companion plants can interact through root exudates and exchange information..it is definitely a lot more complicated than we know. The plants are very aware of eachother, and the extent to which they communicate/affect eachother is still mostly unknown. Definitely a good jumping off point for some experiments :)

Rrog! glad to see your face around here. welcome home. this will be where I am doing the majority of my postings on RIU from now on . hows that LED coming? I've been thinking about trying out a panel in a corner of my flower tent...sick and tired of paying $1000 electric bills every gaddamn month....not to mention the heat issues here in so-cal

I'm taking my sweet time with the LED. It's for a friend whose room isn't ready yet... Because I haven't shown up yet to get it ready!

1000.00 a month adds up...

Ive been thinking about dropping 30 g's on solar panels in the next couple years to have an off grid grow room, Karma Free!

But the hard part wont be making the cash, its dropping the 30 without getting some second looks from the tax man...

I hear you Moon. I like off the grid, but the payback on those panels is a bitch. Same with wind. I'm waiting for a break in the tech to drop the cost of solar. Hell, I'd grow Algae and harvest the Ethanol for fuel if that becomes viable.

Waiting for that break in solar technology as well...it'll come, i'm sure of it.

Seedlings are looking real happy today. This is 5 days after the last picture was taken (roughly 20 days from emerging)

Yeah I thought this thread ^ was it, guess I was wrong. No worries. Did you still want to start it or shall we do it here?

Edit: basically I thought we could mirror iceemags info to the organic crew here. Kind of thought that's where you were going with this bro.

ahhh, nah this was just gonna be my grow journal, but fuck it, if we wanna turn it into a no-till ROLS thread lets do it. I was gonna start a thread with the title Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and see what happens. Maybe show some pics of me reamending a soil, and then pics of the garden setup currently. I feel like that would be made sticky easier/faster than my own grow journal, but maybe not. my goal is just to have a sticky for ROLS that is up there with the soil food web and veganics BS. something to catch the eye of the organic noob and get him/her on the right path, instead of reading the veganics thread and heading off to spend a paycheck on biocanna or whatever the hell they are recommending nowadays.

i totally get what you're saying now though, sorry, i was being kinda dense. been smoking a bit too much kief i reckon

Let me know what you want to do, I was just suggestion cause of all your work you put in. Save you some time. Just point me to the thread you want me to add on the No till ROLS subject :)

All good thoughts! A sticky is a good goal, but I would think a non-journal would have a better chance, as you say, Cann. But that's just a hunch.

yeah i'm not that impressive...lol. don't think my journal would be stickied...and honestly i don't know if i want my journal stickied. lets make a ROLS thread. who wants to start it?

sticky is the goal. lets try to get this method up there with "veganics" and such. with our results and cost it shouldnt be hard...

lol no honestly...i wasn't trying to be sarcastic at all. after looking at pics of gas' garden I don't feel proud anymore haha. what i have going on is alright...probably not sticky worthy. a thread on the whole ROLS technique where everyone can chime in and it's not about one individual...now thats sticky worthy
