Burnt leaves...

Can anyone help me? I Have balanced my PH to 6.0, my nutes were measured to what the package specified. One is carbo load by advanced butes and the other is called Grow terra. I added epsom salt to the water to help with magnesium. I have my 400W lamp running 250W and its about a foot or so above my plant. It is AT LEAST a foot above though. I have a small desk fan lightly blowing above the top of the plant, just enough to slightly move the leaves. Am I doing something wrong? Have I over looked something?

With young plants i always go half , or even a 1/4 of what the instructions say , and build them up , normally nute burn will yellow the tips first ? did it begin that way ?
it does not look to bad.....

I cant really remember how it started... So i just finished my last 2 Liter of mixed water, should I go with no nutes for a while? or just scale them back? Aside from the burns how does she look? I just went from a 150W HPS up to a lumatek 400W digital. But I cant run 400W right now cause it gets too hot. As I stated before im only running 250W right now.

its not your light burning them bottom leaves and not the top leaves, so dont worry about that. I have a 600 MH conversion 12 inches from my plant and no burning. You dont need to drop off to zero nutes, just go a good amount less than what you are

soil, Its like 3 grows old. I balance my PH in th water before adding. Would the soil still mess up the ph? BTW my light is STILL acting up :-( I went ice fishing super early this morning so i didnt check my tent, got home and the light had been off all day! Fucking thing wont fire my MH again! My HPS bulb works fine in it though... So frustrating!

The other day i brought the bulb back to the guy, he hooked it into a new ballast and it fired.. Brought it home, it worked. and then today it shit the bed. I googled Lumatek Problems and there are a few other people with the same problem as me.

That is very odd , my guess is something faulty inside the bulb that is intermittently wrong. Take the ballast to the store and ask him to try a new bulb the same as yours, this way you can be 100% sure.

Well without sounding insulting that is a crock of shite :)
I think I read that somewhere too not saying it isnt a crock of shit either.

I know how you feel about the lights being out all day, my timer didnt switch on this morning... but I checked through the programmed on off times and everything is right and its been working everyday until now. Seems to be working now but how am I supposed to trust the thing anymore? The worste part about getting faulty shit is if just starts working again you can never really trust it again. Id try your best to get a refund or something, you dont want it to fail on you when your least expecting it

There maybe ,"improved bulbs" made for use with digital start up ballasts, but the Bulbs are useable in Both, which makes me think it's just a commercial rip off , as they are more expenisive , i may be wrong , im a bit like "show me the evidence" always..
after all 600watts is 600watts , how the bulb is ignited stockists tell me is the only difference , i was inquiring at the time on the cost difference of running the 2 types , the only real benefit of digital is that some are dimmable and the lifespan of the ballast should be longer , they are lighter and do not get as hot....

well wish me luck, I am gonna test my light nd ballast once more in half an hour, and if it still doesnt work, im gonna take the ballast and bulb back to the guy and have him try them both. I feel so stupid going back to him every week with the same problem :(

Well good luck i hope it works , but i fear without something changing it will happen again , to risky imo , don't feel stupid , if he knows his stuff he will understand your need to fix the problem....

Thanks Clonex. I just got back from the shop, he plugged it in and TA DAAAA!!! it worked :| But we figured out it was another learning opportunity for myself. I had my inline fan and light running off the same HD Timer. I bought a second HD timer, ran it to a seperate plug in, and it works now.. Let just wait to see if its on tomorrow when i go to work!

More bad news... I woke up this morning and the light wasnt working...I'm So so so sooooo frustrated.. my plant is SUPER UBER stressed out and might be a casualty of change. I called the guy and he is gonna switch my ballast out. If this doesnt work I may have to write some hate mail to Lumatek.
