Bridgelux Vero 29 LED Test

I don't get why you are hanging the light so far from the plants. There is much more crystal to be had, I think.
Everywhere I see the lights 6-7 inches from the Canopy. I just wonder why you have them up at HPS height?

For the spread, if they where a lot closer then there would be a lot of branches missing out.

These lights are so powerful even being that far away, 3-4 feet is in that bright zone where you get heaps and heaps of crystals.

If you put those pups down to 1 foot, you will get more. Spread can be calculated from there, also. That's what I'm trying to think about. You get more sugar, even, because it is not a matter of spread at that height. The density of the photons is what causes better photosynthesis, right? I do understand about spread but there is also penetration to consider.

I just wondered why you would give up wonderful, close flux density. That is what I really like about LED.

I see your point and after I think about the last few grows, I've always finished with the Lights very close to the top flowers. I had a lot lot less space and this is the first time the plants are not fighting for the light. There even seemed to be more crystals on some of my previous flowers compared to these but penetration seems so good that a plants hole steam buds up at once rather than producing a over sized flower above the "Canopy". When this happens you seem to lose so much power to these lower buds.

The flowers seem so happy and they are just getting so larger they start to fold over and really soak up all that bright light.

If anything I think you are right and I would like to try the lights closer. On the next run the bottom of the chamber will be moved up, same as bringing the lights down. Like you said, maybe even more crystals but I have to say touching or moving the flowers around produces an intoxicating almost overpowering aroma. One of them smells like the color purple :)

Don't get it in your eyes, Brother. :) It stings.

Yeah, man. I am trying to think in terms of density at 3 feet distance You know why the leaves are bigger on the bottom? They drink the less light that passes through the upper leaves with a bigger panel. 80% of the light is absorbed on the way down but the leaves are 4 times bigger.

So, If I can get a good density down in the lower leaf level, I feel better than just thinking about the tops.

Do you normally top or do any training? Those large leaves are some of the last to go but the plant seems to know when to give that light up to the flowers. My room has a lot of reflected light which I think is helping the lower flowers as well.

And yeah, seems like nothing is better for a bud then being at the top in primo lighting conditions!

Do you feel like there is something special or unique about LED light?

Early 2015 Harvest

I named each phenotype after their particular tastes and aromas, it is amazing how each seed can develop so differently.

Hella Orange - Strong and piney develops the taste of strong oranges.

Pico Purple - Small buds that explode with flavor, makes me smile every time.

Panic Button (a.k.a SUDDEN DEATH) - By far the most powerful flowers I have ever smoked, smells like big purple pine trees.

Hellbound Killer - Clones from Hella Orange and Panic Button, the most dense of all the flowers.

Sticky Moth - The least developed in flavor, super heady high.

What a great run.

Pretty good for an LED grow! lol So they really can grow!
I entered this thread because I noticed you had thrown in some input.

Then I saw this photo avatar of something weird and refreshed the page, because the photo didn't register in my brain. I then took the effort to read the name under the photo and it's YOU! You have never had a photo avatar the whole time I've lurked throughout RIU and now you have one! Congrats!

Tell me, what made you choose what only appears to be a stuffed, one-eyed kitty?

Starting to really enjoy the smell of agent orange! The flowers are so attractive, so much so there is a little moth that lives in my house now. It frequents the flowers but only at night {:

Send me a PM Pico I can't seem to start one with you since I am a new member.

I am looking for 10 vero 10 2.7K 97 CRI for a non grow project and I think I wanted to go with 2 vero 18 97 CRI and a vero 29 4K but I am not sure what I want to drive them with.
