The sinks are 10 inch by about 6 inch. There are two HP CC/CV DC power supplies running the LED's. One is driving the two Vero 29's in parallel at about 40 volts, with the CC driver set at 5 amps maximum. The other power supply is driving the four Vero 18's in parallel at around 30 volts with its CC driver set at 4 amps maximum output.

This is a very easy and safe way to to dive multiple LED Arrays from one DC source.

The grow is 12 seeds started in two 5 gallon fabric pots. Lots of training and tieing throughout veg. The left is called BooBerries (the same cookies male from the first strain I started) and I can't remember the name of the other off the top of my head, its an afghan cross. After 2 weeks of flower the males were cut and removed and pollen will be collected.

3 of the boo berries where males and two of the afghans also.

The little clone from the last grow flowered up very nicely :) yielded just over 6 ounces in the old setup with the 2 vero 29's pushing 200 watts. The new setup uses 320 watts at the moment, the rack in total is 2 feet wide by 6 feet long, ideally each 5 gallon will use about 2 by 2 feet. The hole rack is about 8 feet tall and is split in half, each plant space has about 4 feet of vertical grow space. In all there will be 96 cubic feet per rack and 6 light arrays, about 1000 watts of total LED lighting power throughout the rack.

There is a 260 CFM exhaust fan ducted over the heatsinks and sucking through them, providing cooling, even with these large sinks it is necessary.

You are doing a great job with those plants man, you got a good green thumb to keep those totally green with no problems at all. And that light is badass too , grats on a legit setup hope it keeps on going for a while!

I was looking to add some COB to the set up. The CXA3070 was looking really good till I came across these. I like the idea of being able to run them harder more efficiently. So in short I wanted to try and find I drive them around 1750. I think i came across a couple people using the Meanwell LPF-90-48, running 2 Vero29 at a time. If i had to use that driver how do you wire them up just in parallel?

that driver is used for one vero 29. vero 29 runs at 81.1w on the spec sheet.

Hi,

I am new in this forum, but I have been trying to find a DIY project on LED grow lights and I thought this threat was the most informative. I have been trying commercial LED grow lights for the last 5 years and I have never been satisfied with the results. I went from Blackstar 240w to G8LED 450w to Apollo Purple sun COB 394w to finally SF California works 800w. California definitely is the best between those mentioned but still is equal to a 1000w (in my experience and I have been doing this for some time now) that is the 1/10th of the price. After spending a huge amount of money for not much really I decided to build my own LED.

I got:
1- 2x CXA3590 3000K CRI 93 (150w each)
2- 2x 1.4cc Driver Recom 150w
3- 2x Cool master fans
4- Thermal paste
5- some screws

And I have mounted all of those items in one of my blackstar LED piece of crap (rated 240w run at 80 total).

The results are very good so far and I think that it is mainly because its getting all the visible spectrum plus the CXA has one hell of a punch (16000lm Each).
I also changed the drivers of the Apollo COB got an addition 40% increase in PAR (measured with quantum meter).
Drivers output are rated a 200Hz makes a big difference in my opinion but the chip does get hotter.
Plants are: left Sweet tooth Auto. right Pineapple express Auto.
I'll be happy to answer any question that could help.

A small update since last post just to show you why I completely converted to DIY. I took the pineapple express in another grow space I have because my closet could not fit both any more. the pictures I have posted are from the Sweet Tooth Auto. It has been flushing for a week now, one more week for 60 days of flower I might keep it a bit longer. I have to admit it was a tough grow to manage but I am expecting about 250 to 300 grams of dry budz grown in 0.5 m2 . I hope Sweet Tooth auto is worth it ;) I am really happy with those LEDs its simple as hell to setup and the returns (I don't sell ill probably smoke it all :) ) speak for themselves.
I think next time ill add some more white to the color temp like PICOGRAV did in my opinion it will get the internodes closer together

Looks like you did a good job trimming the under growth. I guess the main issue when growing in small spaces is getting some nice top buds going. I noticed that when they get about 4-6 inches from the light things seem to be perfect and the resin just pours out.

My lady's where all swapped to 12/12 at the same time but they are all in different stages of bud development. They where actually vegged in about 1/3 of the space of what they have now but once again the branches where getting way to close to the lights. I haven't had this much space for a grow yet. Right now the little room is 6'x6' and about 8 feet tall.

On each side I have 2 x Vero 18 - 2700k - 97 CRI and a Vero 29 - 4000K - 80 CRI. These are mounted to a large heat sink with active cooling, with out a fan on them they get extremely hot but just a little air flow make all the difference.

In the center is the dual Vero 29 light, a 2700K at 80 CRI and a 5000K at 70 CRI.

So that is 4 x Vero 18's right now ruining about 6 amps at 30 volts and 4 Vero 29's running about 12 amps at 40 volts.

Total power is 660-700 watts coming from my "pure" DC supply and it is really really bright and nice and warm, about 78-82 F with the lights on and down to about 72 with them off.

Humidity is a little low right now, about 35-45.

As you can tell each seedling was vegged a different way, and the large pot in the middle is just the clones.

3 of the four where topped, 2 of them sacrificed their young branches for the clones, one of them more then the other and the last was un-touched and she looks to me, the most well developed but is also the shortest, right now anyway.

5 seeds where planted late September, one was a male and pollen was harvested. 7 lower buds on 2 of the plants have been pollinated. I haven't really kept track of when the lights where changed and they all really just living their own, except that large pot, they seem to be connected lol . They haven't had the easiest life while young but now in the new room everything should be golden!

I am still using the big honking power supplies I bought used for about $50 each, one for the 30 volt supply and the the other for 40 volts. I could still double or possibly triple the amount of lights I have and still just use these two PSU's and they work great!

Nice setup PICOGRAV :) Its really neat!! After this grow ill take my time to make my grow look cleaner I was just flanking an experiment that went crazy.​
I think the height shouldn't be a problem, IMO you could use a SCROG net/technique, you are using soil it shouldn't be a problem since you don't have to empty the water and change the reservoir like in hydro so the pots could stay in place during all the flowering cycle this way you could manage the height with the net and get more spread/Light and if you trim the bottom you'll get more for sure on top. It's a tiny bit more work but I think you'll be happy with the results ;) I know I am .

I also use a vacuum double glass separator between the light and the plants this way I can isolate the heat produced by the LEDs. I know it take out UV but our CREE and Bridgelux LEDs start their spectrum at about 390 which is not blocked by glass so I don't think I am losing more then just some light intensity due to some deflection (I am using 3 CREE running @ 110w each 3000K). I am still pulling 1500 PAR on the top of the plants so much that I had to hang them with a small wire to get them further away from the top and turned one LED off because of light burn on the leaves.

Humidity is definetly a problem I cant deal with right now at the end of the grow, can't get below 55 due to the limited grow space (49cm X 91cm X 146cm) transpiration is somehow hard to manage with limited airflow but so far everything looks ok, hope ill make it lol.
Temp is 24C day and night because of the Glass isolation hope it wont affect my THC content a lot.
I'll make sure to post some more to show what happens and the harvest of course...
