One last look at the clones and roots...

Thay went in the dirt last night. I kept the MN in the bubbles. I made a new lid for just the 2 of them...

Nice!! Sounds like it works well for ya!!

With the first batch it took about 2 weeks for the roots to start... Stupid mistake:wall::dunce::bigjoint: But I saved them!!!

With the second batch it took about 6 days to get roots. The WW was a day or so sooner and took off quicker. With the first batch the PJ did better. Thanks for the visit skunk!:eyesmoke:

Yeah c, nice root development. I'm gonna build me one for sure. Will just a reg aquarium pump work?

Good to hear!! Yeah I'm using a regular aquarium pump from walmart. It works well for the clones but I don't know if it would have enough to flower with or not, only time will tell. Here's a pic of the one I got, it was the biggest they had. I'm sure a pet store would have better ones.

I see some listed as 2 port or 1 port I guess a 2 port with 2 giant airstones. Def gonna have for my clones. Say how much potting mix did that transplanting take? I'm having a hell of a time finding bulk perlite w/o shipping it. Bulky extra charges. Sorry to ramble but i been in the butter. ha

I got the 2 port so I could run 2 tubs with one pump. It works just fine that way, and I just plug the other side when I use 1. Are you planning for a bigger tub than mine? With more room I would have gone bigger. If I ever get to flowering with bubbles I'll have to. The ones I have now are good for the clones, and I think it will work good for the MN clones I have in it now. The transplant took about 1.5 bags of soil. The FFOF has plenty of perlite to start so I didn't add any. Check local green houses and nurseries, the nursery I've been going to has 20 lb bags of perlite, if I remember right. Ramble on!!!

I'm putting together a 3rd tub. I'm going to use it for the 2 MN plants I plan to flower in bubbles. There won't be any holes below the water line like the other 2. I'll post more with it and the new clones I plan to take tomorrow.

Hey CPH,

I wanted to ask when you cloned your babies...were they in the water on the bottom or just above it? If you already answered then I aplogize. I am about to clone my White widow as well and would like to do so without rockwool or rooting gel. Many thanks in advance!

I left just the very tips in the water. I had a couple of shorter ones that didn't even make it out of the cups and they still rooted. It seems as long as they are in the bubbles enough to stay moist they should be OK. I have been pretty lucky so for and have a 100% survival rate. Best of luck to ya!!!:weed:

The 2 MN are gone. I wasn't getting anywhere with them. Until I'm able to grow in bubbles properly, I'm only planning to clone. I'll get a PH and PPm checker at some point and try again. I do have some clones going now. They are about 3 days old. A couple aren't doing great but are looking better. No roots yet...

Thanks again 400!

The MN just wasn't going anywhere. I changed the res and added nutes once the roots were well established. They just got funky and brown. Without being able to properly monitor the res I'm going to wait to grow in bubbles. For now the clones love it!!!

thats cool, i decided not to plant becouse i dont have nutes for hydro....ill probably grow one in there soon and when its afew weeks old transplant to soil....(im using soiless medium in the netpot becouse i cant get expanded clay & i dont have a ppm/ph meter so i would be shit out of luck for monitoring it aswell,is there anything else needed to moniter it? im deffinatly building a cloner within afew weeks.:)also how loud does your bubble?mind is noisy, need a new pump forsure(it's a big pump without an airstone(yet) so it makes lots of giant bubbles, ill be setting it up properly in a bit.)
PEACE good growins..

Mine isn't any louder than the fans, as long as the pump is sitting flat. The air stones should help quite the bubbles. Just those 2 items are all thats keeping me from trying more. I think I need more bubbles to, and I'd need PH up and down. Good luck getting yours going!

im thinking mine is also extra loud becouse i attatched the pump to the bucket(with an inch of foam inbetween to help muffle,+wrapped the whole pump)
not really a big deal my space is in an unventured area of my basement....i deffinatly need a ph/ppm meter but im waiting until spring, hopefully wont regret it.
airstones are expensive here,it's weird like 5-8 bucks for the littler ones......weird online there like 85cents...lol ill be getting some anyways, for now im thinking just poking a wholebunch of holes in the tube and circuling it on the bottom.
Peace out

I've seen other people on here that poked holes in the hose and wound it around. It would probably give a nice even bubble spread. The bubbles from my air stone are having problems reaching the corners. 1 of the clones got to dry and started to wilt. I added a little water and pushed a little more stem out of the bottom of the cup. All the others were still moist and happy. I posted 1 pic in the Party cup thread, here is the other tub. Since they first got roots yesterday it took 8 days for them to start. I'll give them probably 3 days then in either pots of cups.:leaf:
