Blowing bubbles

I appreciate the concern. I got the idea from another grower on here. Even if the sealant don't hold, it's a big tube.;-)

My concern would be leaks from all those holes below the water line. Never seen that before, but I sure hope that silicon sealant holds tight for you thru all your grows.
I don't think they are deep enough to flower more than a plant or 2 anyway. I plan to use them both as cloners for now. I still need to figure out what to do once the clones are ready to go in the flower room. There are a few different ideas still floating around in my head. It will probably end up being what I can afford at the time. I'd like to stay in bubbles, but it might be cheaper to just go get a bag of soil for now. We'll have to see what happens.:peace:

And I am concerned if they are deep enough?????

Are they perking up yet?

They seem to be doing good. I'm hoping to see some roots real soon. The WW clones are still yellowing. The bottom set of leafs are pretty dead on a couple and it's moved to the second set. They are still standing up straight and looking mostly healthy.

The PJ is getting a little yellow on the tips of the bottom leafs, but thats it. They didn't slouched a lot in the beginning, and continue to stand tall. I wonder a little about the color at the top of the PJ clones. It looks like a light green to me, being color blind I'm never real sure about what color things are. Here's a pic of the top of one. In the pic it looks darker than it looks to me. What do you think?

Last night I added a little water and a little food. I REALLY need to get at least a PPM meter, I also need one for PH. Judging by the color of the water, I could see the air stone again. I'm sure they are under fed at this point. One lesson already learned, it's easier to fix to little than to much. I only gave them what is recommended for seedling and cuttings. They still have the little hairs at the base, but nothing that really looks like a root. It should be about time right? 5 to 7 days or something?:peace:

They're looking alive still, but no roots I can see. I got some Super Thrive to help my sick girls, and gave a little to the clones. Figured it wouldn't hurt.

This is the closest any of them look to rooting. I hope that what it is and just funk forming!!

And still no roots.....

They don't look very happy either. The "funk" on the stem was a little worse, so I removed it... I hope I should've.... I figure there's to much food in there. I added some water and pulled the stems up further from the water. I hope it's not to later. I'm the only on to blame though, still can't check my PH or PPM...:wall::wall::wall::wall:

A plant with no roots can not eat food in the water or drink water either. That is why we foilage feed them, until they do get roots.

I have been... I think I need to be a little more diligent about it though.
Thanks for keeping up!!

Cph, How long have you been rooting them ? They look like their still doing o.k., I have a plant that was bent beyond repair and I'm thinking about taking a few clones off it before it's too late , so I'm watching yours to see how it would go...good luck Cph.

It's been 8 days since I cut them. You're welcome to follow along so I can show you what not to do!!

Good luck to you too!!:bigjoint:

Tonight turned into a project...

The pictures speak for themselves...

At least they're still alive. The fresh water only got Super Thrive. I had obviously put to much food in the water.:wall::wall:

I don't plan to add any this time until I see some roots.:peace:

That nasty water was not helping any. I thought everyone knew you have to use pure clean water to clone. Since they don't have roots, they can not eat anyway.

Like I said I'm pron to stupid newbie mistakes... I probably misunderstood the info I received on this matter. When I asked a fellow bubblehead what he did, he said he started them at the manufactures recommended dose for cuttings/seedlings. He probably meant after he saw roots.:wall::wall:

Don't worry, I'll figure this out yet!!;-)

Another night of hoping I can save these. When I finally got down there tonight the funk was still growing and looking a lot worse. I imagine that since there was no more food in the water it started feeding on th stems. I trimmed them above the brown part and changed the hydroton. A couple of them are barely big enough to reach the bottom of the cup.

When I arrived they looked like this...

Opened it up and found this...

They look OK on top...

This one looks bad...

After the trim...

One of the little girls...

Yes, there is a reason. Just common cloning knowledge, my granny used to clone violets. But she ony cloned one leaf instead of an entire branch or stem of leaves.

A large plant with many leaves has to use its energy to just stay alive, and support those leaves with life-energy. A smaller plant with only two leaves can spend its energy making roots.

That makes sense. I was thinking the opposite I guess. I thought they would provide a source of nutrients if needed. Thanks for the input!!

I got my second tub set up and took more clones last night. Here are a few pics, some more will be in my journal.
I turned this into a 10 spot cloner. I'm pretty sure these are going to be for cloning only. I'll probably put the the plants in soil when they're ready. Even though I like to blow bubbles, I'm still a dirt bag... Anyway thats info for the journal. Here's the lid...

I also removed some of the leaves from the older clones, and trimmed back the rest.
