Better Grow - Super Silver Haze Round 2

Could be the genetics of the seed, or the `vigor` we`ll say was lost because it originated from a hermied mother. My Jill in my Cataract journal is one of 12 seeds that actually made it through sprout in her line off a hermied mother I grew about 5-6 years back, so I`m no expert, but I`d say heritage has a considerable amount to do with germination and growth rates. Trust me and buy your seeds from a reputable seed bank Caddy, or if you`re really hurting for some genetics, we`ll work something out :D

hmmmm makes sense. Yea I am definitely going to buy my seeds from a seed bank like my SSH were. Thanks man :)

Dude, definitely enjoying your journal. Super silver haze is one of my faves, I've got some critical as haze (freebie seed) from attitudes that I can't wait to pop. I'm gonna stick around for this one and see how yours turn out. Best of luck man!

Thanks for stopping by ThorGanjazon! This one will definitely be a ride.

My height on my female was getting a bit high so I took 4 trimmings and now they are in the humidity dome as clones to hopefully root....I will take some pics in the morning when the lights come back up.

Also topped the mail and possibly the other females just not the main stem. Trained them some more...they've almost reached an entire half of the container all the way around. Im debating whether to switch the lights now or wait until it goes all the way around.....hmmmmmm

Where you at for veg Caddy? If you`re past 2 weeks, I`d flip em. You know how they act once flower comes on ;)

Way past 2 weeks :(. I am still training them really short right now...None of them are growing over 1 foot. Should I just switch it now? I just recently topped them too....What do you think?

I know my last one was way too big but it was also like 3-4 feet tall before I switched the lights lol.

First of all, they look great in that last pic you posted, very nice :)

Second, if you just topped recently, I`d say you`re in the perfect spot to hit flowering. Have to remember they`ll triple (or more) in flower, and if you topped, it will give everything a chance to compete without stretching with some more veg. The first 2 weeks or so of 12/12 it will grow vegetatively still, you`ll finish with beauty-sized plants I`d say. I usually flowered my SSH at 10-12 inches and finished around 3-4ft, still enough for the light to reach down lower. Feel free to bounce some ideas off me as well Caddy if you have concerns :)

Does this look like signs of nitrogen deficiency? This is my male plant and the only one experiencing this. If it is an N deficiency....i feel like my fox farm grow big 6-4-4 is not enough in the N and I should get something with more N? What do you think?

It does, but that wasn`t the only thing I`m thinking about. You`re going to have to increase your dosage for the Grow Big for the next few waterings (are you flushing periodically?), but I thought CaMg would also help your cause. your PH may be out of whack as well, acidic PH will cause Mg or Ca deficiency and will lock-out some of that usable N.

Mix your normal feeding with the Grow Big and add 20%, and test the PH for me. Water them through until you get run-off, collect individually, and test the R-O for PH as well and get back to me.
**Edit - If you`re using distilled/RO water be sure to add 5ml/4L of CalMag, even half that doasge with PH`d tap water would be beneficial at this point **

Your first picture clearly shows the N deficiency, but the second leaf-set deosn`t have the discoloration starting at the tips (common of N), which leads me to Ca/Mg (through PH fluctuation). If you`ve been flushing/feeding in a cycle Caddy, we`re going to halt that habbit ;)

It seems like the fox farm schedule thing is really wrong. I’ve always read to use ¼ strength but now im thinking that should only be at first and then increase it a lot later on. I guess im always scared to get nutrient burn. The schedule says to use 3tsp/gallon of big bloom, 2tsp/gallon of growbig, and 2tsp/gallon of tigerbloom at my current stage. I am currently using like 3tsp/liter of big bloom and 1.5tsp/liter and I give about 1 full liter of water for each plant. What do you think about that?

I currently don’t have any CaMg but I will have to head to the store here ina few days and pick that as well as the sweet raw

I will do this today. In my last grow if I remember correctly my run-off was always 7.0 exactly no matter what I did…I have a really hard time lowering that for some reason. I use tap water which I believe here is RO water but I could be completely wrong about that. I tried using ph-down to lower the ph a little but it seemed to be too unstable or maybe I don’t know what the hell im doing because it always jumps back up to 7.0

Okay sounds good I will have to watch the others and see what happens

Sorta in a cycle. I’ll start off with regular water only when they seem to be thirsty and then alternate with feedings. So I feed/water/feed/water. And every watering I just basically flush it by just letting the water continue to run off for a few minutes.

Let us know :). I avoid using FF at all costs, very concentrated and not PH stable. but you should need about 20-25% more Grow solution. Use feedings every time they get anything as well Caddy. I only give straight CaMg water whenever I notice an onset deficiency happening, otherwise you`re just leaching your soil of those nutes you put in !! Now is one of those times where they`re showing they need more

I will thanks man. I'll add 20-25% more grow big solution in this next feeding which will probably be today because they are starting to get droopy.

What did you mean by this? Also, if you were to recommend a nutrient brand what would it be? Botanicare?

Wow I am a complete idiot. I measured out a while ago a syringe-like thing that i use to grab the nutrients and pour them into the container and I didn't realize that my measurement was at 1/2 a tsp and I was thinking it was 1 tsp the entire time. So not only was I giving it 1/4 strength but i was giving it 1/4* 1/2 or 1/8 strength......wow. Well i tested the ph after I put 3 tsp/gallon of grow big and bog bloom into the container and measured the run off and it was still at 7. Maybe now that I am actually giving it a good strength of nutrients they will like it.

But yea my ph is still at 7.0 before and at R-O. :(

Yep, Botanicare or General Hydroponics. Between the two I ccan get everything but SuperThrive (and Rhizotonic and PK13-14 I`m keen on from CANNA).

7.0 is just fine Caddy, if we saw Runoff of 8.0ish or even 4.0ish we`d have an issue. Was likely just the feeeding schedule, you`ll see them perk up and green a bit day-by-day now :)

Hey Caddy. I stalked KC over here and I'm glad I did, love the hazes and SSH is the textbook example of what a haze hybrid should be. I have a syringe type measuring device also, and to avoid mistakes when mixing I wrote everything down. Then I just continued to do everything in the same order everytime. Helped me to make sure I never miss adding a part to one of my jugs.

I would def agree with KC about the Cal/Mag. I would also maybe take your ph down a couple tenths, then raise it back later in flower. Cannabis seems to have slightly more acidic tastes during veg and early flower IME.

Love the SSH so Im def subbed up for the ride. Peace

Edit: BTW I use the GH 3-part supplemented with florablend, floranectar, cal/magic, and liquid koolbloom. I also added floralicious bloom about the time I flipped. No problems with GH at all and have some good results.

Awesome I will keep an extra close eye to see the color of that new growth thanks KC.

Hey Stoneslacker thanks for stopping by! I think we are all stalking KC :).

Good idea...I definitely need to keep track of this all and what better way than to write it all down? What are some of your ways of taking down a few tenths of a 1 gallon container of water? I struggle with this so much for some reason.

Glad to have you subbed! Maybe I will have to take a look at some GH as well as botanicare. Thanks for your input man...btw I love your 250W scrog....every last one of those buds look so good....amazing!

Hey Caddy, I have used GH's ph down with great success. I use a syringe with that too and it's really potent, just a small amount will work well. I have also used cider vinegar with good success. Just start with small amounts and recheck ph, soon you'll have a good idea how much your nutes will buffer and how much ph down you'll need to add.

Thanks man. I actually do have the exact same ph down from GH. It just seems that when i add a few drops it will drop quickly to like 6.0 or even lower but then after about 2-3 minutes its right back at 7.0.....Maybe my meter is shit
