Aurora Indica: Should it be this simple?

Sweet thanks for the quick reply! I worried that the stress would make the potency go to nothing or somehow prevent the plant from ever flowering. Thanks! I was getting concerned about all my hard work going to pot. Ahh! There's that pun again... I could only hope that I will have the time to get all my other things finished so that I can hit the thrift shop for a secondhand dresser and the hardware store for some needed tools and an inline fan. I could have a completed real grow box by the end of my day off.

Well, it is the end of my day of and I have a proper grow box that gets only to about 84.5 degrees with 4 lights and half of the intake vents open! The low is 71.0 and I have enough space to grow several plants instead of just one. I copied the general idea of Cannabizness with his rubbermaid tub setup. I really want to make sure that the 65w bulb can fit in there without causing the temps to get too high, but I can always just turn the fan on high... Sadly, I couldn't find an inline fan at the store and, in winter, Walmart only sells appropriately sized heaters... For cooling, I had to get a 20" box fan. It does move a lot of air though! Pictures will be up at some point.

Macclad! I've been wondering where you had run off to! I would have to agree on adding some more light. I wish I could take my own advice, but the inline fan that I was really hoping to add to my setup to keep the temps low enough for me to add all the lights I will need. I'm glad to see that your plants are looking nice and healthy! I am kind of reluctant tot show you all how ratty she's gotten after that nute burn. I swear I have done the worst job on this grow near the end. If I wasn't a lightweight with no experience with anything other than regs, I would assume that I would this harvest will be way below par as far as potency and yield. Next gow will hopefully go much better. Now I have only to finish this one to see, definitively, how I have done. Today was my first projected harvest day. and I have absolutely no clue when this will be done... Hopefully soon. I am getting a bit disheartened.

Let not your heart be troubled, Hack. Virtually every grower experiences a burn at some point in their experience. It's easy to do with the many concentrated, high potency, products on the market. Mitigate the damage, hope for the best, and chalk it up to experience. There are some mistakes you will never repeat just because you paid a dear price the first time around.

I did it, too. In fact, virtually every time I have tried a new product, I managed to burn the applicable grow. Thankfully, I eventually found the perfect product for me. The most important lesson I learned: when it comes to commercial cannabis fertilizers, less is more.

Patience is essential at this point. And toward the end of a first grow, patience is in short supply. Setbacks will frequently slow the development of the grow. Your plants will tell you when they are ready. Mind those trichomes. They will show you the way.

And you are right about the next grow. Each one sees improvement because you avoid the mistakes of previous grows.

I fucked up my first grow (which I wouldn't really call a grow, more like a series of errors that might give me a few grams of smokable bud, but i'm almost dry right now and about to chop this thing so it wont be TOO bad) so bad in so many ways, that I'm confident that I won't make the same mistakes again... at least not AS bad, so I don't feel it was a waste. I bet your plant will turn out 100x better than mine... haha

Thanks for the encouraging words everyone. This has to be the absolute worst time to have a burn... I doubt I will get any usable trim and most likely little buds but probably enough to get me through another grow. Thanks for helping me get back to the brighter side everyone! I found my temps to be less than 90 this morning a high of 88 and a low of 81. Still holding onto the hope that a good harvest will come, I have not changed plans for the refining nad strage of my spoils... I still have my bottles and I think I will plant some bagseeds and hope for at least one female and one male to let me keep planting for a long time to come...

dude don't give up hope. I abused my first plant so terribly bad its not even funny, but I think I figured it out close to the end... had new buds forming, all the new leaves were a very nice green, it just looked a lot healthier than the first 3/4 of the grow. Heres what it looked like right before it started to pick up...

Just pulled it out to take a few pics, still needs a few more days to dry completly, though the buds are pretty dry as it is. I took one of the small nugs off cause I'm curious/anxious to try it, i'll report back with my results!

Well I just smoked a small bowl of my abused-to-shit weed, and I gotta say its not bad. Very spacey, but clear headed at the same time if that makes sense...
Only took two medium sized rips to clear the bowl, so it wasn't much at all, but i'm very happy with it. Didn't taste GOOD, but didn't taste bad either, which really surprised me. Did irritate my throat a little bit though, but hey, i havn't found anyone with any bud around here lately and i'm pretty much dry, so I'm sure I can make this stuff last me a week or so.
I'm just really really anxious for my seeds to show up so I can start growing some Aurora Indica as well! Reading about this strain really makes me drool, haha

LOL I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one to get all mouth-watery about this particular strain. I was looking through the most recent issue of Cannabis Culture and one of the pictures in the "cannabis calendar" had a photo of a well-grown and dried AI nug and, I swear it looked like a damn cottonball with just a hint of green to it!

Nice pics of your work, by the way! These plants can obviously take a great deal of abuse as most of the fan leaves burned off and I really thought I might have killed her, but I checked this morning and not only were the temps never above 85 for the high of the day, but the current temp was 79.6! I'm sure that if I had that 4 inch in-line I wanted to get, It would remain lower, but... I just need to keep that temp low for a few more weeks... also, there are new leaves forming as the colas are growing again.

I hope I can get this girl done soon... I am the proud owner of one hit that I am saving for new years. Three days without and I barely have a craving. Still can't see why this shit should still be illegal. Six months of near daily use (more than once a day for the last 2 months) and I get one night of raging insomnia and I craved it for two days.

I surely won't give up! Not when I am still so close... Take care everyone, break time is over and I have to apply for a job at one of these local hospitals. Another benefit of being dry for and extended period is that I won't have to get my little brother to piss in a cup for me when I do my drug screening.

For those of you who stuck around from the beginning, I hope you have a bit more time to watch because it will be a bit longer, and I'm taking her all the way to the end!

In other news, I GOT MY SEEDS TODAY!!!!
I'm trying to decide if I should pop a few of the AI seeds. or if I should "practice" with the G13 labs freebies I got.
I think I'll do 2x AI 2x NL and 2x G13 "powerskunk"
If I can get 3 females out of those I'll have my hands full. I've got 3 very tall (too tall) plants in my cabinet right now (Cheese, Jorges Diamonds, and Celtic Hash) and a bunch of clones of each that hopefully I'll be able to throw a few of them in by next week...

How much stretch should I expect from AI? I was planning on going 12/12 from seed, I want them to finish around 17" tall or so, will I get enough growth with 12/12 or should I veg them for a while?

I doubt that they would get 17" from seed. But I would definitely practice a grow with the AI and use the freebies after I got a bit more practice. Anny configuration of planting will serve you well, though. I vegged my plant for 20 days under the best light I could give it and the stem was only about 8 inches long. It really is a very squat plant if you don't allow it to stretch from too little light. I would say it could have been about 27" if I had left it alone. I personally would veg for at least 10, but that is just me. Glad to see you finally got your seeds! New year and new bud... A great combo!
