Wow. I just read through this entire thread all at once.
I'm a new grower too, I've got a 22x14x28" cabinet with 5 CFL's (Mixed 6500k 23w'ers and 2700k 42 w'ers), a pair of 120mm PC case fans, just waiting on my seeds to show up (next week they'll hopefully be here). Among those are a pack of Nirvana Aurora Indica, which is the one that I'm MOST excited about. I'm doing a SOG using 20oz water bottles, FFOF, FF nutes, and you've got me VERY anxious to get my grow going. Aurora Indica seems to be a VERY strong plant (from what I hear, as far as how easy it is to grow and how potent the stone is).

Anyway, I'll be hanging around to see what happens with this!

Zlock, Great to hear! It is a boon, indeed, when you can look at a strain that you are growing from scratch all the way through the end before you even get them planted. Hopefully this journal will have you prepared for every step of your soon-to-start grow well before you need to have made adjustments. Are you going to FIM your girls when they come up or just let them get as tall as they want? Nirvana sends seeds much quicker than you would expect and with that much space I would say you could easily pull more than I have with what you have... My only advice is, have a plan for everything you even think about starting and a contingency just in case it doesn't work. Such as, if you are going to suspend your fans directly over your fans, your contingency could be to secure it with both the wires and bungee cords just in case the wires let go. It will save a lot of heartache, I promise! btw What other strains did you get... You made it seem like you didn't put all your eggs into one basket with the AI, like I did... and one last tip, If you want to LST heavily, make sure it is either after a heavy watering or just before you water when they are a bit wilted, ESPECIALLY if you are going to bend the main stem!

I am anxious to see what you have got in store for your setup! Do you plan on making a journal? I think we would all love to see what AI can do in SOG! LOL I know *I* would!

I have gotten a new bright idea! Since my plant is so short and I have only a few lights I decided to maximize their effect by giving side lighting while also using bamboo skewers to move the fan leaves out of the way. The plant now looks like a Viet Cong concentration camp, but if you could just look at the effect that a couple of days has made, all of you guys would some kind of heart medicine! About 20 skewers were used and, now, the 9 primary colas that I am working on will be getting goodness from the sides as well as the little popcorn buds that are sitting pretty just below them. Maybe I can put some adequate size on them before it is too late to make a difference with them. 4oz might be hoping for too much but 2oz is almost a given and 3oz isn't too impossible, provided no tragedy befalls the Johnnie. Still no trichs yet... I am getting a bit antsy about that... How can I have the dankest buds if I have no trichs? lol Maybe they are waiting for a taste o' them mole's asses! Oh, Johnnie O! The mole's asses you shall have!

I am 15 days away from my projected harvest date and I will most certainly have pics up before then! If everything falls into place, I will have a new laptop on Monday.

Yesterday I was sure that I had found the top of the plan where the meristem used to be and the last two nodes were doing famously, and now I have lost them again and, without that landmark, I have no clue where the stem is again... I hope more fan leaves fall off in ust such a way that I don't have to go hacking up my stem just to hang her up. I would like to see as much of it intact and without any vegetation on it as possible to see how I could improve my technique.

ya know, after reading through your thread i'm thinking maybe i will make a grow journal when i get these seeds. :bigjoint:
Heres what is on its way to my place from The Attitude:
- 10 Seedsman Seeds "Purple Bud"
- 10 Nirvana White Widow
- 10 Nirvana Aurora Indica
- 1 Feminized Seedsman Seeds Skunk #1
- 1 Feminized Barneys Farm Blue Cheese
then of course the freebies
- 5 G13 Labs Power Skunk
- 1 Feminized G13 Labs "Gigabud"
- 1 Feminized Diesel

I want to start with maybe 10 seeds total, so hopefully I get 5 or 6 females that I plan on cloning. In my head I'm thinking 15 is the magic number of plants that I will be able to fit in my cabinet (Giving them each an inch or two between eachother) I'm gonna start small and work my way up to that number though, first run through I may have as few as 6 in there just to see how things work.

I don't mean to be getting off topic in your thread, but if you had to choose a lineup to start with (of the seeds I'm getting), how would you do it?
I can't wait for my seeds to show up :eyesmoke:

Actually I think the attitude was giving away the powerskunk seeds for a while, you pay shipping. Offer is no good any more. (And thats just if my memory serves me right)
But yeah, if you spend X amount of $ you get freebie A, if you spend Y amount of $ you get freebie A and freebie B, etc.

I noticed your wording when you talked about getting your seeds and it made it seem as if you have your seeds set to be delivered in a place that could be where you have your grow... I was always under the impression it is a bad idea. I know that it seems paranoid, but if you buy seeds again, get them shipped to somewhere that has nothing to do with growing.

Now about this line up. That is a really good question! I, as an admitted pothead, would consider my needs to be varied but few. I use it to get to sleep, have a good time for very little money, zone out and just pass the time and sometimes just to zone out with enough pep to do chores all day. If I had evrything myway and I could grow as much as I want of whatever I needed, I would definitely put my first pick as a necessity and that would be the AI for my 'sleeping pill'. Next is just to have a good cheap time, and that Skunk #1 has it covered in spades! It is a very cheap strain (12.99GBP) that is claimed to produce well, has a great buzz and flavor, and can be extremely forgiving of beginners and their mistakes which adds a big neon "Grow ME!" sign on that strain as far as first picks go. Next I would go about securing something that would zone me out and give me enough motivation to do physical labor without being so strong that I forget to get things done, I would use the Power Skunk. I am not sure why I think it is so great, but with its heavy sativa lineage, it might have some good head effects, but it also apparently relaxes the body with the bit of indica that it does have. Also under the cheap fun category it would have to also be the Power Skunk you have there. It's, what, 75% Sativa which smacks of a cerebral experience and so 25-35% of my space would go to this. And finally just to zone out, I would expect none other than your White Widow. I know very little about it, other than it is a white strain and is, thus, extremely potent. I would dedicate at least 15-20% of my space to this. If you are careful with your doses you could spread its widely praised high into other use categories, but if you don't, you could just smoke your kneecaps off and fall asleep giggling. (A win/win!)

If you could only grow 3 different strains I would recommend you growing the larger portion as our 'business portion' by business, I mean whatever medicinal use you require. Business first! In my case, I would need adequate sleep first or else any amount or strain would put me to sleep long before I wanted to. I wouldn't mind having 50% of my space for heavy indicas, 25% of the space for Skunk#1 to just enjoy my time and the last 25% of usable floor space as room for the brightest most potent head high I could get. Once again, from your selections I would have to follow the herd of devotees and get the WW. It couldn't be that popular for nothing!

So to summarize, dedicate your largest amount f space to the mot useful of your available strains so you don't run out of your meds and keep your 'super bright' strain special by planting only a bit and keeping it relatively rare in your stash. This whole thing is just my opinion and you are more than welcome to as much of your favorites as you want. Good luck and please let me know what you decide to do! I would love to have a choice of smoke to match the mood and the course of the day.

Man I have like 3 days worth of herb left, if I police my portions enough, but I am 2 days from graduation and I have about 3 weeks before I begin my career job so its time to force those kneecaps to make a choice! Stand or Fall! Trying to sleep after that is going to suck, but I have almost nothing else to do, so there will be little damage done while I'm dry.

There will be pictures up later today as I have the computer now and pics have been just acumulating these last few days. The buds aren't getting longer anymore, now. With just a few of them reaching 3 inches or more, I am glad that I have so many buds. I have no trichs yet and I am not sure when they will arrive, but I am still hopeful. I know that my ventilation is fo crap and my temps would easily be the end of any goodness, so I am leaving my box flaps open to keep it aired out and cooled off. Take care and I will be checking on a few of your grows in just a bit!

Extra congrats to Mr. Bitti on the harvest of his phenomenal work! I still look forward to that yield!

Well, you know how I have been obsessing over trichome formation right? It seems that they have been making an appearance over the past couple of days. Today I took a closer look after spotting a couple 'odd spots' and I noticed a bif of glistening while the lights were on. I took a picture with the lights on and no flash and what you can see is a barely detectable layer of clear bumps in yesterdays pics that I finally got to look at this afternoon. A few from today are of the leaves and the buds really close up and you can see that the leaves and buds are now just lousy with them! Some on the topmost leaves under the 65w bulb seem to be showing a lot of the normal trichs that are not particularly swollen, but also there are a few that are just gargantuan!

Johnnie is showing a lot of love in return for all the care and patience and I would probably find myself never worrying this much over another grow that is healthy. She is doing what she is supposed to do and with some of the capitate stalks actually rising up from the leaf surface and being big enough to notice with the naked eye a couple of pictures will show how I have been worried about absolutely nothing for a long while. I have taken a few really detailed closeups, because while they can be detected... it is still difficult if the flash isn't on.

The projected harvest is only 13 days away and as such I feel compelled to do a flush because I used some synthetics after the 3rd week of flower. I will also use that time to introduce some molasses and prepare for harvest. It isn't long now! Enjoy the pics and expect many more in the next two weeks or so.

I am guessing the buds will swell just the couple of days before I cut her.

Oh and I looked at the advice about which strains to start for Zlock and I wanted to let you all know that I had jst looked up all those strains I commented on as I was making the plan and that I am not some guru. Let me know what you decide, Zlock!

Here are the pics:

Thanks for the advice! As simple and obvious as your theory on choosing strains is, I guess I had never really thought about it that way! I'll have to figure this out, you'll see what I end up going with when I start my journal :-) Thanks again!!:joint:
