Any UK LED Guys here?

Its a cheap way of doing it driving them @2100,a but for the extra £5 a chip id have gone with type cs @1400ma. Its the same driver cost either way.
Have you grown with both hps and cobs? think I'll get bump in yield Compared to the 600hps?

Maybe I'll run the 69v cobs in the second 1.2 we have in the future and compare

Would fit 3 Cs on a HLG320-1400, the chips would be running at over 100w each? Is it the higher the voltage the more u can push them? Wouldn't u need a bigger heatsink than the type B n D running them at 100w?

Yeah higher voltage requires less current to get to the desired wattage. Its a balance of efficiency vs upfront cost . Driving the Bs @ 2100ma is a cheap way of getting a decent cob build or you could drive Cs @500ma and it cost thousands, it depends on your budget which ones to go for really.

Up to 50w i use 120mm round pin heatsink.
Everything else i use the square splayed pin heatsinks.

Is there any benefit with running 6 x Bs in parallel on a 2100ma to 6 x Bs in series on a 1050ma? Looks the same to me, but series wiring is safer?
If you ran 3 x Bs on a 2100ma you'd get the same 300w but less ppfd because the light's not spread as much, as opposed to 300w over 6 cobs on a 1050? Wonder what the difference in ppfd would be?

6 bs in parallel on that driver wouldnt work you would barley light the cobs up. Youd want a cv driver that can suppy 50v @6.300 amps.

I only use cv drivers in parallel when it fills out the driver better than its cc counterpart.

Exectally. The difference would be huge because not only that the Bs >:(2100 arent going to be very efficient because its less umol/j and less spread. But Bs @1050 will have a higher umol/j and much better spread. More photons coming from more sources will win.

By how much , well ill get my meter out next weekend if i get time.
 
What is the efficiency % running the Bs at 2100? would i get higher ppf/umol readings if i ran the cobs at a lover amperage on the dimmer across the 6 bulbs? = more efficient

I have no real numbers for the bs and im not talking lumens. But yea lower current = better efficiency/efficacy.

Start it low and dail in it to suit your own environment, you may never need to run them full wack but its nice to have that option.

Any decent cob rig will smash its hid equivalent anyway so were really just splitting hairs over a few umols.

I am a UK LED guy - or should say COB guy, been using COBS for months now and am VERY happy with them, will never go back to HPS streetlight technology.

The reduced heat benefits are worth the switch alone.
 
Hey Mario! How manywatts are you using in comparison to your old hps HPS?

Anybody know of a UK supplier of Pin Heatsinks which will cool the Vero 29s driven at 50watts? Don't fancy the shipping cost of 144 x 140mm heatsinks from RapidLED or similar from the US...be quite a bit of weight.
I know a shop that sell kit (hetsink+cob+driver),inside EU.It is not in Uk

I run decent multi cob arrays in parallel, the whole series thang is a left over from maximally rated cobs, vero 29's can handle most part of 200% rated drive current so if one cob in a 3 cob array dies, the other two can soak up the excess amps without blowing. As to drivers, I use a chinese supplier who builds my drivers to order, meanwell can be tricky to match volts to amps so i like being able to specify my desired drive ratings, I can give you my chinese contact if you wanna try that route but shipping and build times can be lengthy. Yes, they only use citis 1212 3500k.If you are looking for kit with bridgelux or Cree I do not know other sources.If you want more info about board, we have to wait.I saw them at a cannabis exhibition promoting their kits and showing a prototype board.Still under development but seems interesting for us,inside Europe

Them prices are taking the piss by around 30% and they use elg drivers which is fine for the 100w kit as its the best fit but its just cutting corners on any other kit as the hlg-185 is a great match.

Crees are a waste of money tbh. If you are using a small tent then the citizens are ideal and very good value, That one above is 189.99 free p&p. I prefer the veros for bigger areas as its a cheaper over all build and a bit more efficient (vero cs @1400ma).

You wont beat the vero cs for upfront cost vs efficiency on larger builds.
