...All Things Vero...

Would you consider buying a VERO after reading through some of the posts?

@AquariusPanta why didn't you use CXB3590 36v 3000k? That would have been a fair test. I bet you my 6500k 72v DD bin would outperform the Vero with lower power
Cxb3070 bb is higher efficiency than vero 29. These test are so finite and par meter error plays a factor. I would have to see this in a sphere honestly. Seeing as how vero29 isn't binned I'm sure there is quite a variance between each cob as well. Not knocking vero29 at all. I'll stick with cree personally. If one doesn't have a reasonable source for Cree vero29 is a very attractive alternative cost wise.

Hi guys.
If I whant to run a vero 29 on 70% of it relative power what current (or driver) should i use ? is it 1400mA ? My physics is a bit weak, i don't understand data sheet. is it 4200mA is like 100% and 500mA - 0 % ? or nominal 2100mA use as 100% ? (same thing with CXB3590)
am I making any sence here ? :-?

Vero29s are tested at 2.1A and absolute maximum rating is 4.2A continuously or 6A with 10% duty cycle and 20ms long pulses.
The real question is why you want to run them at 70% :)

Basicly If I undestand corectly at 70% RP wavelengjh would be at +- 450nm (5000k) and 650nm (3000K). isin't it the best light for plant ? or am i missing something here out ?

@alesh this was the first time i heard this too.
This spectrum is due to the physical attributes of the Phosphorus on Vero 29. The spectrum(light distribution from 400nm-800nm) does not change with input power to cob. It does change only a tiny bit with junction temperature change. In datasheet look for 'Typical Chromaticity Characteristics vs. Temperature'
The RP represents approx light power distribution across the 400-800 spectrum.
So if you run your vero 3000K at 1amp or 2.1 amps, you get the same spectrum as your graph. The line like this - - -. Only the intensity changes as you increase power.

I see now :) so hypothetically if i whant to use a 3 veros 29 v2 (2 for veg, +1 for flowering) in ~ 0.5m2. should i use 2.1amp for them, or 1.4 amp wuold be enought for 2-4 plants ?

I think i would like to use a separat drives at biger amp. Someone in forum whrote that MW LPF-90D-42 would be good for the job ?
I'm aiming for biger yield not efficientsy.

I guess better efficiency...mean bigger yield!
If it was not the case everybody here would drive their cob at max Amp!
Have a great day ★

its easier to get the desired amount of watts in the tent without running them hard. Something i feel is always over looked is par watts, once you understand what you need in your space you can work backwards. Most importantly not everyone what's to drop $500-$700 on 200w. It's real easy to throw $100 on 100w of solid efficiency

KarmaPaymentPlan is whrite. I just whant on a quite tight buget make a simple, few cob, diy lamp with best light as posible, not a n x cob super efficient chandelier (for now) :)

If you are from US 200w of cxb 3590 is about 350 $ not 500 $ and we talk about the more expensive one...so I guess it is 260 $ for V29 a bit less for V18 for very good parts...

i meant for the whole light. The cobs are kind of useless if you have no way to mount them or run them or any of the necessary stuff needed to build the light like wire connectors and so on. Again you can build a 100w Vero for a $100
