Day 23.
Stage : 1020 ( 10 pairs of true leaves -12 nodes up till now )
Ta= 35 C
CXA3070 Io= 1000mA

Some tiny primordia have shown up ...
The specimen I was guessing as being a ' female',is indeed a pistillate plant ,
while the other one WAS a staminate .

In spite being an 'Auto' strain (aka hybrid cultivar ) ,
for just 23 days above ground, vegging is very-very good .

The staminate specimen (the male plant) will be cut into pieces and placed in the compost bin.

In that bin ,actually, end up all the remainings
( from females roots/branches-stems & leaves ,post harvest) or the male plants .

Since I'm pretty much aware of the quality and purity of (mineral salt ) fertilisers,
substrate and water used,
after composting male mj plants and/or the remainings of harvested female plants ,
I get a plant -derived organic fertiliser ,of high purity ,
(free of heavy metal or radioactive contamination )
which BTW is actually 'oriented ' for use with Cannabis plants .
(Since Cannabis plants are actually composted ,to become fertiliser themselves ) .
Though,myself, I use it mainly on my field-grown tomatoes,peppers,water melons,etc...

IMHO this is the best and of purest form of organic fertiliser ,ever .
And actually, pretty easy & simple for almost every grower to make ...

*** Cannabis & Urtica (nettle ) species ,when composted ,
they become one of the most (if not THE MOST ) powerful organic fertilisers.
They surpass almost all animal-derived organic ferts,
regarding nutrient concentrations.

Can be used either in dry-powder form (slow-released nutrients ) ,
or in an organic-tea form (rapidly available nutrients ).

That is what's missing from my nutrient program. A good home brewed nettle and comfrey organic fertilizer.

I have been using general organics plant based biothrive. I would love to be able to recreate that. They seem to incorporate soft rock phosphate too, which I think has mixed reviews with heavy metals from my understanding. Soft rock does make extra nice herb..too bad it has what seems questionable safety.

We see it's hot where you live, the leaves are a little wilted (not a big problem). When temperatures are milder, it'll give huge results.
I do not criticize bro, on the contrary I love. Your lamp surpasses by far all the manufacturers craps. I think the spectrum is almost perfect with an optimal cooling. Built to last.
Even with a relatively high power, you should explode gr/W.
I think next year I stop the grow in summer (2-3 months), the plants suffer a bit. And me too because I took the outdoor air but is repressed in my apartment. Because with moisture, odors sometimes escape outside. And France is very idiot. Cannabis is the demon for many people!
Whereas when it is cool, it heats the apartment and I do economies heating.

To replace a 400W CMH retro-white (80 lm / w) how would it watts using CXA3070 like you? (box 4 * 4)

Yes...
This time of year ,peak ambient temperature at shade reach at average 36-37 C ( 98 F ) during day ...
During night-time ,drops to ~27-28 C ...
So yes..It's pretty hot ....

:P...
Afterall ...A bit further to the South ,is where Sahara Desert lays ...
( Pretty vast ,sandy beach,I should also add ....
Takes pretty long from where you've parked the car,to reach the sea...)
shrde.JPG
Anyway ...

I'm not pretty sure if I've understood correctly ,your question ...

" To replace a 400W CMH retro-white (80 lm / w) how would it watts using CXA3070 like you? "

(English is not my 'mother language' ,too...:P...)

With the current set up ,( 4 x CXA3070 Z4 ) - at 55 C case temperature ,it will take
1.95 A to reach the 32.000 lm ( 80 x 400 ) .
And only the cobs (without fans / drivers /psu /etc ) alone ,
will be dissipating about 303 Watts .
dfg567.JPG

But efficciency is 32.6 % ...

You can achieve higher efficiencies ( lower watts for same amount of radiant power ) ,
by utilising more COB units and of course drive them at lower current.

Cheers.
:peace:

I already knew what country you were. I follow your work for a long time but without posting. Probably one of the most beautiful country in the world, but a shame that the rich are bastards that hurt the people! (IMF and Europe too!) Just son of a bitch, they deserve death.
France also is hell (not for money at the moment), but for Maryjuana smokers.
I had Hodgkin's lymphoma but almost nobody understands why I smoke! Smoking ganja is not a sin, it is a blessing for the body and mind of the people.
Thank you for the answer, that's what I thought (I'm getting better in electronics with your advice), but I'll wait a little longer than the LED technology is more affordable and more efficient for my flowering lamp (250W, perhaps only 200W).
I just do the math, with 150W difference (450W-300W) with the magnetic ballast:
150W * 12hours * 365 days = 657KW per year (excluding vegging in the same box)
657 KW / days * 0.075 € = 50 € won per year on electricity
This is not yet a significant step to saving money.
But I understand those who use LEDs for flowering, passion and adventure are good engines.

Man, this plant is really turning into a nice bush :) And it seems to be really handling the warm temperatures you've got to deal with really well. Just a random question: any idea why the 3rd COB is running several degrees hotter than the others?
More or less ,it remains a mystery to me too...
( For now,at least ... )

I think the COB are made in series, and then binned (Y4 to AB), they must all be a little different. I think that they light up briefly to classify. It is just little lower to others. I may be wrong.

Your room temps are very high it will slow your growth exhaust the heat from your room with an inline exhaust fan attached to a duct system.

Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes...
>:(...

A latin phrase ....
...Its literal meaning is "I fear the Danaans [Greeks], even those bearing gifts" or "even when they bear gifts"....

Aouch ! ...

Well..Even if they're your own family I might add ...

Danaan grower has single plant under four Cree CXA3070.
Doing some further -weird- tests ..
About warm white cob's growing abilities....

Grower meets beautiful girl .
Grower and girl go for holidays ...

But,not before grower went over to his brother to ask him to take care of the poor little mj specimen under test ...

"Yeah-yeah ,no problem junior.Go have a nice time and I'll take care of the plant . "

Well ...Brother met a girl too ....
And went for holidays too !

And their mother was asked to take care of the plant ....
(water it ,mainly ...)

But mother with her sister went for holidays too ...

And father was asked to do the 'farming duties' ...

Well ...He agreed ,only to be carried away -a bit later - to a fishing trip with his pals ! ....

Is it the weather ?
Those 40 Celcius degrees ?
Maybe is the water ...Something inside this country's water ...

Something 's wrong ....

The specimen .....
Well ,everybody said that it looked great ...
(those cxa chips ,kick serious @$$ ... )

Though ....
Nobody has a clue how the plant got dried out .....

Father says is the water ...
Something's wrong with the water .....

Yeah,of course something's wrong with the water !!! >:(
Everybody in this family dived, have been bathing, fishing and swimming in that stuff ( -who knows what else ...)
and of course drunk plenty of it ...
Except of the plant....

Never trust a greek !
.....:-?.....
Especially if you're family-related .....

I'm so totally f@#$%^ pissed -off ...
:cuss:>:(:cuss:>:(

I feel for you. My last grow the plants dried up 4 times due to trips but they survived. Nice job on the light.

Unless I am mistaken, its not just about the LEDs using less power, its also about them lasting much longer?

Conventional light has to be replaced after like 4,000 hours? where as these LEDs are rated for 50,000 hours?

That is about 12 conventional light replacements in the lifetime of the LED, that is a few hundred $ saved over the life of the LED, and its a pretty safe bet that electric prices will keep going up, at least in the near term.
