3rd grow - Greenhouse Thai fem seeds in soil with t5's supplemented with CFL's

I popped a couple of seeds about a week and a half ago. one rotted because i was out of town and it grew against the saran wrap. planted another one about a week following the first. currently competing my 2nd grow which you can check out if you want. a link is in my signature. that one is dutch passion master kush. i grow in roots oganics soil in a 2x4x4 tent. sposed to be a mothers tent but i use it for my veg and flower. i use ho t5 bulbs. i am heading out to watch the hobbit in 3d at an imax but will add more info as i go.

this is from 12/30. i just put them in my grow tent under 2 4 ft t5 10000 kelvin bulbs with a couple of fans on them. i am going with 18/6 for light and dark now. they have been under 2 16 watt 6500 k cfls at 24/0. they are showing some signs of heat stress. i am planning on this being a really long term grow. i think i harvested my last thai a little early at 13 weeks of flower. i am guessing i will finish up in may. i will start posting pics from this now that i am done with my dutch passion master kush grow and am drying that budage...

temps in the tent are pretty chilly. to try to offset the frickin' frigid temps outside(that translate into a really cool basement and not the good kind of cool) i turned on the second set of t5 bulbs and have the girls on a heating pad set to low. temp went from 65 to 74. the plant in the foreground in the above post has leaves that are kind of twisty. she was getting pretty close to the cfl's i had the plants under while i was finishing up my master kush grow. not sure if the heat from the seedling setup or the chill in the air or genetics are the cause...

transplanted to some 8" plastic pots. the roots were starting to get pretty dense at the bottom of the clay pots.

gave a light dose of my gobox nutes. the tent is getting warmer or maybe it is just that i raised the plants up in the tent. i also put one of the pots from my last growing there. the trunk is still in the dirt and there are a couple of fan leaves left. if it re-veg'es, great. if not i will pretend i was just using it to increase the humidity in the tent...

the rh in the tent has been under 30 for the most part and the temp has been in the low 70's. since it is warming up outside, my basement is getting warmer so the tent is as well.

the pic of the plant with the loopy stem is because it is one week older then the other and it was a fast grower when it first sprouted so i tried to bury the stem. instead of the intended results, i am now working on a topiary...

about 4 weeks from sprouting for the one with the purple stems on the leaves and about 3 for the other. though these are supposed to be the same type, they look wildly different to me. the one with the purple stems seems more robust and healthy. the leaves on the other one(the ugly sister) look almost stippled. i am not going to kill her. we will see how things shake out. i gave them a full dose of nutes the other day as the ugly sister was looking a paler green. i am afraid i may have to tailor their feedings to each individual.

i was looking at Dogenzengi's grow and noticed he has his exhaust fan inside his grow tent. i think that may help me with a couple of problems it have. my tent is running a bit on the cool side and my exhaust fan is a bit louder than i would like. i am thinking if i put the fan inside the motor may put out a little heat and the tent may muffle the sound a bit.

rolling up on 5 weeks from sprouting for the twisted stem plant and 4 for the other. i gave full strength (plus a little bit) nutes today to see how they respond. they are growing pretty slowly due to the temps i think. it is 'wicked' cold here and my grow room/tent are pretty cool. no worries for me though. i am not in any hurry on this grow and i know sativas are going to take a while anyway. i topped both of them too and have been lst'ing the younger one. the one with the loop in it's stem is staying lower profile by itself.

also of note, my attempt(and lack of really trying) to re-veg my master kush seems to be working. i guess what they say on here is right. this plant is a weed and is pretty resilient. the other mk plant i have still has a couple of leaves. i prolly should try to re veg her too...

changed from 20/4 cycle to no darkness last night. i think the cold is fucking with these plants as my basement gets too chill when it is 0 fricking degrees f...

so this is not my masterpiece so far. i was out of town for a few days and my son forgot to WATER these even though i give him very little responsibility...

they were dry like sahara dry when i got home this morning. i think they should be fine. i hit them with some water and nutes and i hope they look happier later today. i am concerned about one of them in particular. i am wondering if i am getting nute lock out from low temps. its been so frickin' cold here(and in the rest of the us) that i am thinking one is more sensitive to lockout. i read that under 15 c(59 f) you can get phosphorus lockout. i don't think i am getting that cold but judging by the other girl with the purple stems, i am getting pretty chilly at times.

i am happy i am just vegging at this time and am in no hurry to harvest anyway as i have too much medicine as it is(though i prefer sativa to the ass-kicking, narcotic couch-lock stone it get from my master kush).

transplanted both into 3 gallon felt pots. this will be their home for life. they were getting root bound which might explain why they have not looked happy in a while. they are not down on the floor of the tent(but up on grates so they don't sit in runoff since i learned that lesson in my first grow). i will post some pics tomorrow maybe or next week or month... not sure...

pretty pathetic for being 7 weeks into veg. i don't think the first weeks of these two plants lives have been all that good. it has been cold in the basement room i have my tent in. i think that has affected the nute uptake(i mean, the tent was frequently in the low 60's or high 50's and rarely got above 73). i also started them out on 20/4 for light but changed to 24/0 because the lights helped heat the tent. i hope that the real cold is over but since i transplanted them and put them in the bottom of the tent away from the exhaust fan, the temps are not a toasty 78 or so. the rh is still low in the 30's. i just gave them a normal dose of gobox nutes. hopefully that helps kickstart their growth. i don't really care when i harvest these so i am not in a tizzy at the slow development as i have more than i can smoke at this point but i would like them to be happy. i am lst'ing them and plan to train them around the felt pot like i have on my first two grows. i also topped both of them last week i think to promote growth of the lower branches.

i am about 8 weeks into veg. still pretty pathetic but i am still dealing with shitty temps in the room my tent is in. the temps do seems to be better though since i turned on a couple of 26 watt 2700 kelvin cfl's. running around 75 today. low humidity which is not optimal but they are actually looking healthier than they have in a while. i also stopped trying to ph my water. i didn't really screw with the ph much last time i grew this thai and the veg went well. i am not sure if i am going to bother with scrogging this go-round either. i think i will just control height with lst and supercropping. some of the branches are starting to show some maturity in that i am getting some asymmetrical nodes. i can't switch to 12/12 yet though since the lights are essentially my only source of heat. growing on the cheap for the time being. the yellowing of some fan leaves i think are from nute lock out due to low temps and screwed up ph. doing everything wrong this time...

so i took the plants out of the tent to give them a good soaking today and was pleased to see some female preflowers on one of the plants. i have yet to flip to 12/12 but as i recall, this greenhouse thai preflowered pretty early the first time i grew it too. happy birthday to me...

they are starting to look a lot happier too since i stopped ph'ing the water. sometimes i mettle too much. they are very low plants though. i am going to attribute that to the lighting i am using. 3 of the t5's are 10000 kelvin and i think i read somewhere that the spectrum from those bulbs is not conducive to stretchy plants(the other is 2700 k flowering spectrum). i have the 2 26 w 2700 k or 3000 k bulbs too going now as well.

changed out one of my 10000 kelvin t5 bulbs for a 3000 kelvin bulb. i am hoping to get more stretch if you can believe it. the plants are very compact with all the 10000 kelvin light.

here we are at approximately 8 weeks of 24/0 lighting. they recommend starting this strain off with 12/12 lighting but frankly, i needed the heat generated by the lights to keep the tent warm. i am flipping them to 12/12 today. right now i have 2 2700 kelvin and 2 10000 kelvin t5s' 2 26 watt 3000 kelvin cfls' and 2 23 watt 5600 kelvin cfl's on the girls. lots of purple on the stems i think due to the temperature. it was getting into the upper 50's some nights during the arctic vortex. the plants are showing pre-flowers and thought they are not as tall as i would have hoped, maybe flipping them will give me the 15-16 weeks of flowering time without them out growing the tent. looks like june will be my harvest. i am planning on grabbing some fox farm supplements today(open sesame, beastie blooms and cha-ching) to see if i can ramp up the flavor of the final product.

i found a grow shop that had fox farms trio in 6 oz containers so i am going to use them as supplements to my gobox nutes for flowering. next dose of nutes is tomorrow which will be the first of the gobox flowering flavors so i am going to go with about 1/2 the recommended dosage for all the nutes.
