This is an exact copy of a thread I created in the autoflowering section, as I would like to update everyone following along in my thread who might not venture off into the autoflowering section here.

Here is the link first. http://rollitup.org/t/hermie-automazar.905392/#post-12490470

I'm just curious on if anyone has experience with this kind of situation. Your welcome to comment on either thread, doesn't matter, thank you!

"Hey guys, just went out this morning to check on the girls and one of my automazars is showing definite signs of hermie. There isn't many male banannas growing, more pistils, this automazar happens to be my tallest lady standing at inch below 3'.

I've been doing some research and apparently I can let her/him do its things and let it go another 10-14 days after harvest and collect the male pollen to pollinate some more female autos and create my own feminized autoflowers.

Of course, there is still a chance of some of those seeds being hermie's themselves, but majority will be feminized? Does anyone have any experience with this type of situation? It would be awesome to be able to breed my own supply of feminized autoflower seeds.

Heres a few pictures."

If you leave the Hermie there it will put seeds in all your bud. I've had seeds from a crop where one clone pollinated everything and they were feminised though

Here is my Diesel Haze Auto from Flash Seeds. Big one is about 5 feet tall
Picture didn't post by the way, I would love to see a 5 ft auto btw haha, please fix!

Awesome, glad to hear that, thanks!

I know I have to be real careful, but can't I just watch them closely (there is maybe 4 different nodes showing pollen sacs, rest are pistils) and clip them down when they're most ripe right before they actually pop open and use that pollen for the fem seeds?

My original question is answered and I'm happy to hear that, but is what I'm proposing to do easily doable or would it be too risky?

I'm all for just clipping the pollen sacs and not letting them grow and just be happy for what buds this one plant will produce, but being able to produce my own feminized autos would just be amazing!

If breeding is what you want to do, I recommend researching the effects of colloidal silver. I've never done it but seen it done. Seems rather easy.

I think taking the chance to hermie everything, only to get hermie seeds is silly.

Peace

Well, the rest wouldn't hermie, I would be at risk of pollinating my other females which would in return cause them to produce a ton of seeds and not flowers.

I don't mind buying seeds, so that's why I never attempted to breed my own seeds, but with the opportunity of one of my Feminized autos turning into a hermie, mine as well attempt.

Collodial silver stresses out a female causing it to grow male pollen sacs as a form of emergency so they can reproduce, but still only hold the xx chromosomes no y.

Basically, my plant turned hermie due to more than likely my soil being a bit too hot, so rather I used collodial silver to hermie or it just hermied on it's own, it's the same thing. What I'm attempting is a technique called Redolization.

There is not more than 4 or 5 pollen sacs, so if I'm real cautious I think it's quite possible to do.

I wouldn't be producing hermie seeds, but all female seeds with a higher chance of herming on me. The next batch of fem seeds I would produce from this would just be more prone to hermie under stress.

********** Day 57 04/13/16**********

Sorry about the late update, it's been 10 days since my last and I just got a little caught up in life during spring break.

Back to work as of yesterday though. The one plant that I posted on here that hermed on me, for whatever reason through a few pollen sacs out of some nodes, but they eventually just died off and she seems to moving into flowering now.

She has grown extremely tall compared to the others, which is quite cool. I've stopped on the neem oil about a week or 2 ago now, and have only sprayed them with BT once, will do the next BT treatment sometime this week.

The 6x blue dreams have really started to grow, they are going onto their 4th node now and I will probably top them all down to the 3rd or 4th node once she surpasses the 6th or 7th one.

Pretty basic question, but I ran into a root bound issue last year with my ladies for not transplanting soon enough which caused some problems and made me lose a few weeks of veg.

They're in 2 gallon grow bags, how big do you think I should let them get before I transplant them into their final pots.

I'm doing 4x 100 gallon smart pots and 2x 50 gallon smart pots.

I enlarged this one so you guys can get an idea of how big this lady has gotten.

Yes, someone did :hump: I didn't take it too personal though. I've grown autos outdoors before and know they grow quite slow at first then hit a growth spurt and go nuts haha, literally growing a foot in a week.

Thank you though, appreciate it! I'll be having some pregame smoke come Fall when I have to trim the big guns lol.

Ye man, ive learned a lot. Just further proves that genetics are worth at least 50% of the size/yield. They have a pre determined size that they will try to fulfill if we provide a comfortable living environment.

Definitely true! Not sure if you have looked into the history of ruderalis's, but not even very long ago (past decade or 2) have it became main stream since it barely had any THC content, it was compared to hemp lmao.

Few awesome breeders came in and crossed it with photos do bring up the THC content while keeping its ruderalis characteristics.

Pretty cool history behind them, definitely something to read up on!

Can u somehow up pot those blue dreams to a 5-10 gallon to grow in before planting to the 50s or 100s
I never get rootbound in my 15s and thats only cos they go from my lil solo cups to the final.place but thats only me i know thats not standard practice

just pust them in their final pot next time , you want the maximum yield? just NEVER transplant
This isn't my first rodeo :P The autos go straight to their final pots, ruby was talking about my 6 blue dreams which are photos.

Any particular reason why you recommend transplanting into a 5-10 gallon before going in to their final pot? Like building a root mass, etc.?

Sure, it's possible of doing that, but I was looking forward to transplanting the ladies into their final pots haha, one thing I hate and that's transplanting.

And those autos are killing it !!
Thank you! The ones in that raised bed are freaking huge, people say above 5 gallons is useless, but idk there is a huge difference in growth for the ones that are in the 5 gallons and the ones that are in the raised bed with more then 40 gallons of space.

Oh dont get me wrong my friend i actually grow mine in small containers between the size of a solo cup and say 1 gallon and on thier 2nd set of leaves i transplant to their final resting place no matter how big :)
I just see a lot of pros on here transplant two or three times before final.place and i often wonder wether i should be doing that lol

It makes sense, I'm pretty sure I remember reading somewhere that letting them build giant root masses in smaller pots before transplanting helps build a stronger plant and root system.

I'm gonna have to go check out one of his auto grows here haha!

I'm gonna be topping them down to the 3rd node at the 6th node, trying to let them get some time to establish before I go topping them.

Was trying to figure out if I had enough time to do all that before they get root bound in the 2 gallons, last thing I want is to top them and have to transplant them a week or 2 later.
