Frogster, looks very nice for your first grow for sure. I was looking into buying a ebb and flow set up very similar to the one you are using so I'm interested in seeing how they work out for you. I would definitely get a screen with bigger holes though. Other than that keep up the good work man. sub'd

oh good god. Dude, loose the chicken wire. come on frogster, your smarter than that. 2 x2 holes at a minimum. You don't just stick a stem through a hole and call it good, your going to have to keep moving the growing shoots farther and farther away during the later veg and stretch. you ain't a never going to be able to do that with chicken wire.
Ya ditch it! I am going to store to get screws with the hole and wire I am going too shred mine up even when I cut wire it leaves a jagged edge on wire.

Whats the point of that wire ting anyway? Kinda like LST??

Thx everyone,,, I knew I would get a little flak over the chicken wire.... i searched and searched and never found a scrog with 1" holes.... Just for (Fun?)Since i have the 1" wire over half my grow, I think I will do the other half in 2".. Plants are loving the Grow formula...

If you start training your plants through those 1" holes I'm taking my Rep back. :)

yeah "just for fun" spoken like a guy who hasn't trained through a scrog yet.

I am rethinking the super dense scrog as despite my best efforts I got some bud rot. Need to invest in some more fans.

I have a football field of room under the screen, about 29".. plenty of room to work and plenty of room for air circulation.. And I have never had a problem with "High" humidity... I will keep everything under the screen till about 60%-75% full? (hard to guess considering im flowering with MH), then flip 12/12 and let everything grow up at once..I would rather over veg and trim back than under Veg. and get an uneven canopy.. I see so many scrogs that are not filled in completely, some the screen isnt even doing a damn thing!

No doubt using the chicken wire can be done man but like you said it's pretty old school. I and others have just found it easier to use 2" or so holes so it's easier to not damage the plants when putting them through the holes. But did you say you are going to flower with MH bulbs?

Yes headsack, MH... Old school again...Like the did it in the early 70's... Pulling back under isn't an issue, I hope, I dont plan on letting the plant get over the screen very high before I adjust it under the screen, i plan on filling the under side almost completely (60-75%?then flip to 12/12) before I let anything grow up and out, I see so many scrogs that let stem sites grow out way before its time.... I bought this entire system on a limited budget and dont have the capital to buy the hortilux blues that I need, The ballast are mh only otherwise I would buy a few really cheap hps... From what I have read i will lose a percent of weight (5-10%)with the MH, but the bud quality is suppose to be off the chart,,, Trichs are suppose to really glaze over all the buds&leaves really well... after this harvest I will change things up a bit..... I have so many bud sites on the plants on the other side Im tempted to just do a little lst training and let that side grow as is... pretty sure i will have my hands full with the one side that is scrogged... The girls are quickly becoming ladies....

Not to be a dick, but I can't wait till you start pulling plants through that chicken wire :)

In terms of "keeping them all below the screen" I have a little tid bit of info, when in the stretch, especially if your running MH, every morning your going to find all the shoots that were at the screen when you went to bed are now 3-4" above the screen. Obviously you can do what you want and keep it old school and all that, but with that many plants and the density you have, I think your going to make your training sessions a nightmare.

If your going to go old school, I sentance you to dial up Internet from now until harvest time. LOL

Ok Legal, the challenge is ON!! lol,, Im going to out-yield your scrog per sq ft.. I spread out the other side and started a little super-cropping to slow the vertical grow&add bud sites and allow the smaller plants to catch up... I think I will have more work keeping the other side trained low vs the scrog side until I flip them... heres a few pics of both...

Oh its definitely on now!!! :) I'm going to harvest next week, and because I'm such a super mack daddy, I already have the next batch at 16".. and that is AFTER fimming and super cropping. About 8-10 growing shoots per plant. I have 12 plants for the next go around. Then only thing I ask is that I don't compete against your big Schwag, ummmm, I mean Big bud sq. ft.

I'm definitely interested in this friendly little competition. I have never seen all that great of finishes with people who flower only using MH. One of my buddies did the same as you Frogster cuz he had a ballast that only ran MH and couldn't afford HPS but the buds just didn't fill in the way the should have. I have seen good results from some people that use a mix of HPS and MH in flower but never tried it myself. Like I said interested to see this unfold.
