Legal, you mean let them go a little longer so they grow above the screen more? I'm about out of the nova flora bloom, and about time to change out rez.. So im switching to the novagrow formula for the rest of veg.(like you said, the bloom has too much p&k,,, I think im getting deficiencies from lock out of other nutes like copper, zinc, and calcium). Speaking of calcium , you use calmag I dont, so shouldn't I be lowering my ph to 5.5 to catch the calcium, its locked out after 5.7... Im using MH bulbs for my flowering, I think I read somewhere it takes them a little while longer to kick into flowering, I may have more stretch than anticipated.... each plant has about 2sq ft... My system came with 36 buckets, Im only using 15 in each 4'x8'... I know you can use way less plants in this area but I figured the buds in the 2sq ft area will be getting big considering all the root and stem energy will be going into fewer buds ... Makes you wonder what would happen if you put the screen up and keep vegging a long time and hacking back the overgrowth&fiming while your roots&stems get bigger,,, then just let it fly! I see scrogs where people flower too early. I think I will search scrogs that vegged too long...

If you wait too long it can apparantly be a real mess. When you look at the screen you kind of have to think "where are all the stems going to grow to?". On my next scrog all the plants are going to be placed in the very edge of the screen and then I'll train them towards the center. No hps bulbs? Really? I'll have to check on the calcium ph thing, don't recall off the top of my head.

I did read something the other day where ph was recommended in the high rang for veg an lower range for flowering

I went ahead and did a flush&rez change yesterday to be on the safe side. used florakleen and flushed the buckets&roots for about 30min.. After rinsing the rez twice, Good ole' 60ppm was reading on the meter after I filled it back up... I love my tap here. I ph'd it and added gh regular micro&gro 1-2 ratio to 220ppm... not much "p" in this formula, but as you said plants dont use much till flowering. will start bumping ppm up later today (by 100ppm at a time) I need to start tying down a few girls as they are at 12" over the bucket and 16-16" under the light, i dont want to raise the light away from these as the other plants need to catch up. Btw, total noob mistake again, After filling the rez and ph adjust I filled the system shortly afterward, I was on the computer reading a guys problem with purple plants (ie, too damn cold) and realized "Shit!" I didnt let the tank heat up before I cycled the system, the damn water ws in the 30's!!!! I ran in and drained... I measured the temp going into the control unit, it read 52degrees, luckily the heat that was in the remaining water in the buckets and the heat that was stored in the hydroton raised the temps... ebb&gro is very forgiving on a noob, for sure. I think there should be a sticky in hydroponic&soil that just list noob mistakes....

No blast off, My girls are at a total stand still..(but roots look like they are getting longer!) No leaf growth in two days..may have a little stretch.. I raise dthe lights a little bit, some tops were 12" away. fresh nutes at 420ppm (lol) and steady, h20 is going down.... it appears I may have damaged my fine hairs on the roots by shocking them with cold water the other day... I think they are in recovery mode right now, so I will just keep watering every six hours and topping off with just h20 when I need too.(let the ppm go down).. bummer.. :( I guess this gives ne a little time to get the screen up..

Your in hyrodton right? I have RAPID growth and water every 3 hours. I would water more frequently. Probably up the nutes to around 600 as well. It's what, the third week? My three week olds are in 800ppm but 150 or so of that is root excelerator.

Thx legal.. +rep. to you.. def. a cal mag deficiency issue... i bumped up the ppm to 620 yesterday and watering to every 4hrs,,, they are growing again..woohoo. double checked my ppm meter ... They are taking 30-40 ppm a day again... I was afraid to hit them with high ppm after the flush,,, .. I will bump up the ppm again tomorrow.. The spots are horrible on some leaves , and that one leave is curled up , dried out and so brittle it broke off.. on the whole they look o.k... need to get that screen over them as soon as possible... I added a little of the bloom as the plants went from having too much "P" available to none when I went from the novabloom to the 2 part micro/grow... hers a few pics of the damage..

hey man nice setup, how big is your screen going to be? I know your rooms 10x8 but was just wondering how big you were making your screen, i'm also growing 30 plants, 6 strains though 5 of each, SOOOOO over crowded right now... wish I had the extra space. and if i was you i'd FOR SURE make my screen no less than 18" above the pots, put mine at 1' and regretting it, but its a learning experience for next round.

Im having two rows of 4x8, 15 plants under each screen... (3rows of 5)... I have plenty of room to go 18" above the pots but I may just do 16"... getting to the back left to train under the screen will be fun I can assure you... but oh well... This will give me about 1 3/4 down the middle to me rez ... see my pics on first page... frogster...

If you have 15 plants under a 4x8 you might want to seek advice on when to flip. You are NOT going to have much room at all. My screen is 14" I think, flipped when 4 days after touching the screen and as you can see in my thread. 7 healthy and one runt filled that 3.5 x 7' screen to almost maximum capacity. That's 3 sq ft a plant, you have two. If you have ample height above the screen you should be just fine as you can always just let them grow vertically.

Make sure you have adequate nutrient strength in there for the flip. Not that I'm the grow wizard or anything but I would think around 1000. My next grow I am going to max out in flower at around 1400 or so. I dickered the current grow up and still haven't decided if it was too much or to little nutes. Probably too much though. Mixing by the label I was at 1700. Thought they were deficient got advice to raise to 2k. That really didn't help. Got more advice that that was WAY to high, lower it to 700 after a flush. Never really bounced back but I think that is because it's really late in flower and the leaf damage was permenant.

I figure if I stay low, then I know it's a deficiency I'm looking at. At least now you know what it looks like when they want food... Lower growth rates and tips curling up "asking" for food.

Yep, they are (were) begging for food,, I guess my nute lockout wasnt as bad as I thought it was... I was at 640ppm yesterday, added back 4gallons of water and ppm were at 510ppm... I adjusted to 680ppm after the h20 add. i will bump a little higher tomorrow.. I still incorporated a little nova bloom Micro1part to 1part regular grow and 1 part nova grow , I didnt want them going from plenty of "P" to none... but have done that just lately... I dont think I will do it next time I add nutes... The screens need to be put in asap... I have a few that are really getting up there, and I know my growth will be a little longer than most after the flip due to the mh lights... I think I may just move the undersized plants to the edge and just lollipop them for one tall bud and allow the extra room on the screen for the larger plants...Kinda fun to have a variety.. I have one plant that is freaking crazy (stretch!) it was a clone in flower when I put in in.. I heard flowering clones stretch more than usual , but this one is ridicules..!!

your plants "live in the now", they don't "remember what the had before". So in short, quite feeding them bloom nutes....cause they are not blooming yet.

I stopped the other day.. I went out and bought the 2 part lucas formula... Then i realized the next day (yesterday) that I was using micro and grow ... Oh boy. more noob mistakes. For some reason the hydro guy didnt catch it and neither did I,,, so I had a rez full of nutes with very little Calcium and almost zero Mag.. I was thinking of adding epsom salt , but that didnt help my cal issue. So i said screw it dumped it all and bought the Floranova GROW... What I should have been using from day one!... So, I have REAL simple vegg nutes in there now... Looking at my screen it appears I may be vegging for another 7-14 days... i had the chicken wire avail. so I decided to use it..there is 144 holes per sq ft. Going for a bud per hole! Jk,, ... I'm going to be training the crap out of them though ,,,... I have plenty of room to work over and under them,,,

Plants look good but those holes are gonna suck training on you will tear shit up. Legal gave me some good advice on this and when you think about it some of those big fan leaves will come up with plant and will need too come out. I have 1x2 and it is too small but Iam cutting 2x2 holes out of the wire you could do the same if needed you are not restricted. But they look healthier than mine good work.

Yep. I have wire cutters handy... I plan on spending some serious time in that room... on a lighter note (humor) : Look what im growing... I stuck the seed straight in the frozen ice cream... I read the nutrition label and it should grow on just the ice cream... Yumm... Wow check out that stalk after I injected whip cream into the roots!,, thats 2 days growth... Must be the NOS from the whip cream can.. WHO would have thunk!

Nice grow youve got going man. ive wanted to try ebb and flow. but I honestly think that chicken wire is going to give you major problems later on down the road, i'd lose it now and re-think something else. +rep

oh good god. Dude, loose the chicken wire. come on frogster, your smarter than that. 2 x2 holes at a minimum. You don't just stick a stem through a hole and call it good, your going to have to keep moving the growing shoots farther and farther away during the later veg and stretch. you ain't a never going to be able to do that with chicken wire.

Ya ditch it! I am going to store to get screws with the hole and wire I am going too shred mine up even when I cut wire it leaves a jagged edge on wire.
