1st Grow figured id give it a try

when i say first grow i mean i know dick about plants of any kind. so i planted my 3 bag seeds 6/25/09 and they are starting to come out of the dirt. i was wondering if i should put the lights on them now and start my 18/6 cycle any advice yall could give me would be great. 1st time poster.

Def time to put them into your light cycle.

If your using cfl (42w and under) def put the lights 2" above the tops. 1" is safe also. Any reason your going 18/6 and not 24/0?

i have no idea why i am going 18/6 lol i just read that alot for the clf's should i go 24/0 you think? and yeah i have a whole bunch of diff lights and spectrum's.

yea you should go 24/0 just cause they need alot of light, and if you got more light it wouldent hurt to put em on too

so thats what im using for lights right now till the plants get bigger and ill setup my closet for them. does it look alright to you guys? and how often should i be watering these babys?

Looks good to me, I would bring them a little closer and reposition them (turn the sockets so there like << side by side) and put the plants right in the center(max light for each plant since all 4 bulbs would overlap above the plants). Thats me though

Since there seedlings and in cups i would wait until like 1/4" or 1/2" of that soil is dry then feel its weight then just water when it feels light like that or close to it. If you cut some good drainage holes in the cups your a little safer from over watering.

You should build a simple reflector for each of them lights.

so i changed the lights and added another. i do have reflectors the plants are so small and its hard for me to get the lights where i want right now.

well welcome to RIU and the setup is very good for starters! congrats! and looks like you have some really helpful people here helpin ya along! =) my only advice would be to get when you have a chance is a temp/humidity/ meter with ph as well, dont ever let it get above 90 keep ph at 6.5 - 7.0, and never overwater keep an eye on those main things and you should be good! and never too many lights more the marrier! well hope it goes along good! here is mine if you would like to see whats been done so far its similar to yours accept im a lil further in. looking very good , i was taught to put the lights on top of ma plants but we'll see how it goes

yeah this is just a start for me once i get the care of the plant down and all the harvesting and curing i am gonna get a hydro kit i think because they look so much easier to use and come with the lights and all that stuff.

so i am on day 6 says my obama calendar lol. two of the three plants are doing great but for some reason this plant in the pic has curled leaves any advice would be great as to how you think i can perk this slut up again.

each plant has a 40w 6500k and a 60w 2700k for now untill they get big enough for me to put more lights on. so on another note i topped my plants and took a couple crappy pics hopfully i did it right i just cut where i saw the new little sprouts.

did you TOP or FIM ?
