Time for another legal Michigan medical grow journal. This time around I will be making more upgrades to my room in efforts to maximize yield and quality. I am replacing the 400w with a 600w to give me two 600w hps/mh lights and more importantly I will be replacing the 2x6 screen with a 4x6 screen, something I should have done when I added my first 600w light. With my current setup I am filling my screen way too fast and getting Waaaaayyy too much verticle growth.I also need to do some upgrades to my ventilation system and upgrades to odor control. I'll get to that but for now heres the setup.

- 4 homemade rumplebuckets with 2 5gal resvoirs
- 1 plant each bucket = 4 plants total all Reserva Privada Og #18 of which I have a mother that I grew from feminized seed
- 2ea 600w MH/HPS lights in cool tube reflectors
-1ea 4inch fan
-1ea 4inch carbon filter
-Lucas formula
-RO water from tha culligan machine at my local Meijer thrifty acres

All pics are from day 1 veg wich is 3 weeks cut from the mother plant.

Can you get light closer? You should be able to get fairly close like around a foot with that air cooled hood...

I can get about 6in from the hood but my duct line isnt long enough, I dont think thats effecting my veg much.

I hear ya but the the stretch problem I have been having has been in flower I was running out of screen after the first week, this grow my screen size has doubled. That being said your still right, if they are stretching now they might have trouble filling up the screen to its potential.I will take your advise and lower the lights. Thanks for your input.

Thought you were still in veg, but yes lowering light will help maximize lumens at canopy level

I tell you what, my last run was the first of the #18 and it got chopped two weeks ago and its great smoke already. Couple months in the jars and its gonna be impressive. Today marks two weeks of veg time. They are hittin the screen and startin to spread. I am thinking my screen might need adjusting. I am not happy with the wood strip I used to connect the screens together, It is a little thicker than I think I would like. I might rip it down a little more tomarrow. Anyone have any thoughts on it?

Now that they have filled out a little I feel fine about the screen, they should be taking it over in the next week or so. I vegged for 20 days total and today is DAY #1 FLOWER, this is where it gets exciting. I have been looking into the GH Floranova on the Lucas formula, might try a couple buckets on that next round and see where she goes.

What is your process for cleaning the buckets out when changing the water? I can't figure out how to do that. I'm going to end up having 16 buckets any suggestions?

I'd most def get rid of the center wood strip next round though.
Just my honest opinion, it's also taking away holes that could be filled in with bud sites.
Connect what you have with zip ties or replace with a larger screen.

You mentioned you got caught without enough room after the 1st week strech on the last grow.
How much (%) of the screen was full prior to starting bloom ?
How far above the canopy are your lights now that it's bloom ?

A drop of dishsoap and hot water, quick scrub and rinse. I have had the same buckets for at least 2 years with no problems.

Thanks for the feedback flo, I originally did try the zip ties but was sagging way too much thats why I added the strip of wood. Last grow I was about 25% full on my screen when I started flower and that was too much for this stretchy OG. I keep my lights about 9 to 12 inches abovre the canopy.

Subb'd and rep.

I am also a michigan medicinal patient.

I'm excited to see these girls grow. I really like your setup. I have 4 solid soil grows under my belt, and one hydro. I used bubbleponics four pods/ 20 gall. rubbermaid. This next grow im thinking about imitating your idea or possibly a FloodDrain. Since I have a basement to use at my discretion I might as well try yours.

My question is... Do you have a water pump in each reservoir bucket? How often do your pumps run? And lastly does your 5 gal reservoirs empty out completely ? Filling your plant buckets with 2.5 gal a piece?

Sorry for the newb question i don't mean to spam your thread im jw.

Hey, watajob thanks for stoppin in.No problem on the questions man dont worry about it.My setup is actually two identical systems consisting of two 5 gallon grow buckets and one 5 gallon resvoir bucket all linked together. I dont use a water pump just air pumps. I use two seperate dual outlet pumps for each system. I split them up so that each grow bucket has one line from each pump so if a pump fails I still have 1 pump working. I keep my 5 gallon res topped off daily and it does noy empty at all, The res is linked to the two other buckets so that the level of all three buckets is always the same, which is 90% full. Hope that clearly answers your questions, if not let me know.

nice grow i have just ordered the #18...
Is this plant easy to clone? and how was your germination rate with this seed?

any help appreciated man.

No, not what I was meaning I did hydro a while back so I have done that. I guess I am wondering how you remove the plants from the buckets, cause when all the plants fill the screen they have to stay there. So you have to get all the plants separated at once right? So do you take all the lids off. If I was needing to do this with a line of buckets that wouldn't be the easiest. How often do you clean? Once per week?
