So when you pushed your electric bill up there to 2x 3x even 4 times the use did it bring the cops or happiness from the electric company?
Thanks
Tom

I guess all the people busted this way go straight to jail b/c they never stick around to tell about it...or THEY DON'T EXIST...
let me guess your a college student whos electronics are limited to a tv and a minifridge paying $25 in electric a month?? Theres alot of threads here just trying to convince people that ALOT of houses run $200 bills with no grows going on... My parents bill is always higher than my last grows bill

I have three of these. I do not grow, YET. Noone has ever said anything. They are drawing maximum capacity too.

You can easily cover-up a grow by claiming it's servers. Get creative- but think about it. They put out a lot of heat and happen to use about the same amount of power. The trick is buying cases and making a convincing enough front for the operation.

ya, I don't blame ya. A healthy spoonful of worry is the best way I cover my ass... so even though I'm comfortable telling you not too worry, theres no guarantee that in a few motnhs (when I hope to upgrade) I'm not going to be worryin too! Damn butterflies in the stomach stylie

At 18 I had a big house and room mates was working making good money, our electric bill was like 350-450 a month when I finally kicked out the slackers.
I turned a grow room with a closet full of florescents a 400 mh a 600&1000 watt hps and my bill was only like $65-75 a month.
Just my .02 change your bulbs to contact florescents and get rid of the old appliances.

A lot of people here spends 300 to 400 per month on elect, some $800. Slack is right. For the fore thought people, kick that bitch on when the first hard cold front hits. Use the heat.

You've got a realistic total usage of about 1-2kW personal usage in a single before even a landlord paying the hydro would really start to wonder.. That includes things like TV's, computers, lights, coffemakers, grow-ops.. So if you're only using an average of say half a kW for personal living then you can easily get away with running a 1000W + accessories 12hrs/day..
The biggest problem is that most of that power gets pumped in a 12hr period, and that can make the meter spin pretty quick compared to other meters for other apartments that use roughly as much power/month, but draw it more consistently through the day.. So if the landloard/superintendant notices patterns with the instantaneous load...

ive got a 3000 watt heater that i switch on most nights in the winter!! make sure u pay your bills ull b ok

Exactily. I feel really safe after last month but it sucks anyways. I have a 4000w heater and really high ceilings, I thought it might be say a 1000w or 1500w heater cuz it never got that hot. So we ran it for days, it was on all night, and even on when it was sunny outside to the point where it was too hot inside and had to turn it off by hand.

Well, long story short, our bill was easy the highest it has ever been last month for December, Even with a 600watt light and A/c cranked to 64 in the summer the bill no way got as high as it was last month. It was like 4x JUST FOR THE HEATER!! My light and fans and floros never really dent the bill, mayber 90bux a month to 120 on the high side, and with the a/c maybe 170 max but adding the heater for an adverage of prob 4 hrs a day the bill was 370!!

The only way you will get busted from a 1000w'er would be if it was in a window with view of marijuana. Here is why:

1. A girlfriend moves in (hairdryers are 1800w's, more laundry, more hot water)
2. Wet Seasons (sump pumps)? Winters (furnace)?
3. Bought a new Home humidifier (runs 18-24hrs a day).
4. Lots of fans and/or airconditioners (big money, run alot)
5. PEOPLE GROW THINGS INDOORS BESIDES MARIJUANA with way more lights than 1000w.
6. so much more...............

I am saying as long as you dont make the light obvious and you keep your mouth shut the cops will never come. The only way they may check your electric bill anyway is if you had prior convictions aside from that the electric company does not report energy spikes to the police or fbi.

3 years ago i started running 3 1500w heaters along with washer&dryer computers, t.v.'s, grow setup and other things. i doubt a 1000w will send out red flags. maybe 15 1000 watters might lol.

I once plugged my LED flashlight into mains directly, and I got stormed by swat, and a multi-national military peace-keeping coalition..

this is what i loved about the UK:

for some houses there was somewhat of a "pay as you go" electric system u could get, u had a box in ur house and they gave u a key that u would top up with money at the corner stores, it may of been more expenisve in the long run but if u were renting u didn't have 2 worry about u're landlord saying WTF about u're bill and as long as u payed the bill they wouldn't bother me
