What can be added to soil for interesting bud responces. Ex; is the banana peel theory of making a plant more of a white widow like creature? Will adding fruits or anything make the plant have differential colour or taste? When should this kind of tampering be done in the plants life cycle?

Some of my plants start to hang over and the leavescurl up after a dark rainy day. Is this anything to worry about. Or will it straighten out on it's own.
