ok guys I have a question for you. I have a tiny cab. 30"Hx26"Wx16"D. Do you think I could get away with a 250W cooltubed HPS in there with an ambient temp around 75-80F? I already have a ballast and bulb and would rather not buy a 150 or cfls.

im worried in a space that small even a cooltubed 250 might keep temps too high

Wouldn't the HPS create less heat, since it is significantly more efficient than the cfls?

I was considering trying dwc for the first time. However temps get into the 80s with the lights out cause of the scorching summers. Would a cooler setup with added ice bottles be feasible/worth the trouble over soil?

chloramines will not dissipate from the water just siting out. You will need either vitamin C or aquarium water additives. Check with your local water treatment provider first to see if you actualy have chloramine in your water. If you only have chlorine than sitting it out will suffice.

I went to michaels and they had two sizes of hurricane glass. A large and small. WHich one is the best fit for a 250W HPS?

Idealy you want cool air from outside the tent, cabinet etc, to be pulled across the bulb and then exhausted outside of the same grow area.

I think I am going to use a batwing. I would be using it in a tent with a rectangular footprint. Should I arrange the bulb and reflector so the bulb is parallel with the long side of the tent or perpendicular to it?

yah i plan on using the aluminum and painting it white but i am unsure of what shape of reflector to use to keep temps the lowest.
