Is it too warm for DWC?

I was considering trying dwc for the first time. However temps get into the 80s with the lights out cause of the scorching summers.

Would a cooler setup with added ice bottles be feasible/worth the trouble over soil?

Yep, get some good air moving around and try to get the temps down and I would go for it.

I have my rez at a constant 80 and they seem fine. I was worried at first and i even contemplated an ice pack scenario. But I think having fluxuating temps would cause more trouble than its worth.

If your temps are in the 80s with the lights out, I have to say from experience you might be setting yourself up for failure. Ice bottles might not cut it. I wouldn't even try it without either a water chiller, or an air conditioner. I would give up DWC if my temps were any higher than 75 these days, and I've faced every resevoir problem you can imagine. Good luck with whatever you decide.

MY temps run around 82F in the room and 70-72 in my res. All I did was cut up one of those reflectors you put on your windsield that I got from the dollar store and wrapped it around my 5 gallon bucket.

You might think about adding one of these to your grow space...

Swap the 12v fan for a 120v, but you get the idea.

DWC and 80 degrees is ok. My res never gets above 82. I have my lights on at night when the outside temperatures are the coolest (8pm-8am) during flowering to minimize heat. I also use dutch master zone as a root zone conditioner and believe the stuff is liquid gold! Nothing by bright white roots! Hope this helps!
