After being a jackass and dropping out of high school I am coming back years later to take my ged test tommorow. Anyone have their GED and not their high school diploma? How hard was the test?

i have a ged but i took the test over 10 years ago before the additional math requirements. i would have been screwed if i waited. i didn't study and i scored above the 95th percentile in everything except math. in math i scored in the 58th percentile, which was apparently right above the threshold. i'm a special kind of dumb 
it wasn't a "breeze" but it wasn't difficult. i'm sure it's a lot harder now, though. a year or two after i took the test they really amped up the math section. i also took it during what should have been my senior year, so i was still in school mode. if you've been out of school for years you'll probably want to take a few practice tests to gauge your readiness. good luck.

I have a friend that was pretty good at math, but english was very bad(came to the US only a few years ago) and he passed the test the first time. But we are fresh in/out of high school. I would imagine that after multiple years of smoking marijuana and no schooling whatsoever you probably forgot the material. Mainly how to solve the math problems. Im sure if you study for it you'll pass because my friend said the test is not hard at all. I on the other hand did pretty much the same thing to leave high school early, but it was another test. That was also a very easy test. For some reason these tests to get a diploma equivalent or even just test out of high school are very easy.

The test is real easy if you can read and do basic math.Study shit like geometry,algebra,etc before the test though so it's all fresh in your head.The rest is mostly reading then going back and answering questions.Social studys was harder cause you had to read a bunch of shit in a shorter time.

Exactly. What the fuck kind of test is that for science or history? They're basically an extension of the english test, just reading comprehension...

Took it in 1993... The test was easy -- and, it didn't hinder me in getting into college, taking math and advanced math classes, programming, or getting into a couple of very good technical universities for continuing education...
Study your ass off, practice your spelling (Essay) refresh yourself on language structure (nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, punctuation, capitalization, run-on sentences (like this one) etc.) and refresh yourself on mathematics.
I don't know if I'm allowed to post this, but, here's a great website for practicing math: http://www.khanacademy.org/
With Khan Academy, it's a great idea to run through some of the basic math classes, since a lot of the G.E.D.'s math test is related to basic mathematics.
In addition, you can do a bit of advanced refresher classes at a few university websites (MIT has open courseware, Carnegie Mellon has some open courseware classes, Stanford, Berkley... A number of very prestigious technical universities offer free, but uncredited, online classes and lectures.)

I tried to get a job and all I heard was you dont have a ged or diploma, sorry. When I finally got the ged no one has asked for it since, except a colledge. They needed to see the scores to determine where to start my classes.

its very easy i passed when i was 16.... hard times.. anyways im young so wasnt that long ago. a brush up in an algebra class or online and some dedication, should be easy enough to pass.

GET YOUR GED! you need it a lot of people dont ask and never will but if they do and you dont have it well..... plus everyone wants to get some of this free money schools are handing out, get yourself a diploma!

Took my test three years ago just to put it behind me if I want to go to college ever, the test is almost impossible to fail if you can take your time read a question and logically eliminate wrong answers. The test does not test you on actual knowledge but more so your ability to follow simple directions. Just do it one question at a time read it thoroughly and go through every answer (multiple choice) you will ace it.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm just worried about algebra and all the bullshit rules that come along with math. I go and take my test in two hours and I already have the worst anxiety.
