Nirvana seeds are crap!!!

If you could show pics of both your plants, and your cousins, that would lend some credence to your argument.

Before you publicly condemn a respected seed company, back your arguments up with fact (preferably pictures as someone's word is about as good as mud online), then people like me won't come out of the woodwork calling bullshit.
yea ur right. my apologies to RIU and Nirvana. i doubt i can get any pics of my cousins, but can surely show just how different the lemon ones are from the rest of the rhinos in my batch.

I love Nirvana! I once opened a ticket and complained that 3 of my 5 seeds never germinated and they replaced my order!!! Try having that conversation with Attitude Seeds! :)
I suggested that he contact Nirvana and tell them what happened. They are really good about making things right. The OP just ignored me.

If I could crack a seed I might be able to join in on this discussion:wall:. I have purchased 6 strains from Nirvana because of their prices and they have tried to help me with my failed attempts. Until I get it right I will continue to buy from them, I can't blame them for my inexperience. :leaf::leaf::leaf:

That can be extremely frustrating. I have a RP Kandy Kush seed going on 2 weeks now and a G13 PE going on one week in peat pellets. I know all about frustrating. I've tried seedling matt, no matt, no domes, domes, lights, no lights, grrrr.... these seeds are giving me hell.

what method are u using? wet paper towel, covered, and on top of a computer monitor or cable box seems to work well for me.

Nitrogen excess is a likely cause

I've had several plants like those you describe, and all were my fault. Believe me, a nitrogen excess ni bloom can cause the shit you describe.

Thank you...Frustrating to say the least! Almost brought me to tears, but since I am not a cry baby I could not go there. I did curse, cuss, and drink a bottle of wine. I've tried everything except the paper towel method. I haven't tried that because I can see myself "accidentally" breaking off those little shoots, putting the seed in the wrong way, or not letting it get big enough or letting it go too long. Whatever happened to just letting the seed hit the soil and it grows from there, isn't that how nature intended it!:leaf::leaf::leaf:

If you are having a problem, this is the best way to go. Do not plant more than double the width of the seed in depth and do keep the soil moist and humid, not soaked.

Nirvana is great. Everything I have grown from them has been killer except Short Rider. I have some aurora indica seedlings going now and I can not wait for them to finish.

To be completely honest the paper towel method has been the best for me so far. I know people say it's hard on the little tap roots but I've been growing for decades and I've never lost a seed after germinating them in paper towels (except due to my own stupidity). I use tweezers to pluck the little babies out of the paper towel. No broken roots. :p

The first time I tried to pop my seeds I used a heating mat that turned out to be too hot, same with the second attempt. My latest attempt I think that I kept the seed mixture "soaked" instead of moist. My next attempt I will try your depth and width suggestion with just moist soil with humidity. I am open to suggestions and will try different things until I run out of patients or seeds. Thank you:leaf::leaf::leaf:

Do not bury them very deep, just barely cover them. Jiffy pellets work really well too, what I use. Too much warmth and moisture make moldy dead seeds after a while. Some say keep em moist but I like to let em dry out a bit before I moisten em again just to make sure some air gets in.

I grew Auroura had no problems. Contact them, they are great when it comes to customer service. Here's two of A.I from Nirvana.
Nice AI and yes Nirvana is very helpful.

I have bought seeds online from about when they first became available and have hung around on boards like this ever since they started popping up and over the many years I have never seen any place get more complaints than Nirvana. I really do not understand how they managed to remain in business.

I read messages where people say they have great customer service but over the years I have read a handful of messages where people complained and Nirvana told them to stop complaining, that Nirvana had the customer's personal info and they would forward it to the customers local law enforcement agency if the customer would not stop complaining. I would had to have taken such claims with a grain of salt and figured they were just someone who was upset and trying to make Nirvana look bad but it did happen to someone I know so that tends to make me believe what others wrote on boards like this.

I'd happily risk getting 'the clap' before I would take the risk of purchasing seeds from Nirvana.

But to each their own.

Nirvana has some of the best customer care that I have encountered period:clap:. I had a situation where I received a package from them that had been opened by customs, the items removed and slapped with the green tape. They ask me to send them a copy of the letter stating the reason why the items was confiscated, which I did and about 12 days later I received the items. There are people that are out to scammed these seed banks because of the problems with international shipping and customs, still Nirvana has come through for me. This same thing also applies to seed companies who take advantage of customers abroad because it is easy. Who can you really complain to when they are not supposed to ship those items to the states:leaf::leaf::leaf:

I suppose most people are just randomly luckier than your friend was in finding a keeper pheno.

If they weren't any good, people would eventually stop buying their seeds.

Somehow, miraculously, they remain in business, despite random testimonials from likely noob growers on online forums.

But let's spend more time railing against them, because they're obviously just garbage.

I think it's because Nirvana has been so successful, and does such a large volume of sales directly marketing their seeds, that you find these random negative testimonials.

If you do enough business with enough people, eventually you're gonna have some bad customer experiences, especially with something as variable as a marijuana seed.

That really does seem like something a marijuana seed company would want to bring upon themselves; lots of heat from law enforcement to entrap someone with their seeds.

Sounds exactly what an internationally renowned company would do as part of their 'better-business practices', ya know, to drum up business.

I call bullshit.

I have to agree with you. Seeds banks like Nirvana have to be making big money from the business that they get from the States. If and when the day comes when we can openly get good seeds in the States a lot of the current International seed banks will suffer. They may be able to stay afloat but their sales will decrease. At least for now, we need them and they need us, so why threaten the customer.:leaf::leaf::leaf:

Call it what you like but I have seen a number of messages on sites like this over the years filled with nothing but horror stories about Nirvana and a number were about threats to rat out unhappy customers, including seeing them on this site, and it did happen to someone I know.

Calling Nirvana an; "internationally renowned company" give is a false appearance of honesty and respectability that it does not deserve. Nirvana does not make their own seeds, they pay people to make them, outside contractors of sorts. They totally lack any and all quality control because of it. Someone making their seeds can mix them together and or claim them to be ones they get paid more for than they would for others so they make more money.

For some inexplicable reason there are a number of members here who like Nirvana but I have been a member of sites where people wouldn't grow Nirvana beans if the beans were free and all they had to do was pay for the shipping. They would not waste their time on garbage genetics.

Nirvana does promote itself well but it is like the AOL of breeders/seed vendors. Like many people new to the Internet who think joining AOL is the best way to go it is where all the newbies flock to until they eventually learn that there are much better options out there to pick from.

I wouldn't trade a single piece of dry cat shit for anything in the Nirvana line.
