Depends on your point of view.

Since you can't take clones, and roll basically forever, they are pricey. Unless you wanna basically sacrifice a single grow for seed production.
And the ration of M vs F on 10 seeds can weigh in kinda heavy.

so is it safe to say it saves a lot of money buy ordering the feminized autoflower seeds? but then that knocks out the possibility of getting a male to produce more seeds. unless u can use giberellic acid to produce male pollen with the autoflowering plants. i dont know. anyone have any experience with giberellic acid and autoflowering plants? i want to order seeds very soon and im torn over which ones to get. im 100 percent sure i wanna get autoflowering plants. i want ones that dont branch much. my first choice was diesel ryder by the joint doctor but now attitude ran out of those. anyone have any ideas?

I am growing Blue Streak currently. its masterlow x dj shorts blueberry. If i recall properly masterlow is master Kush X Lowryder.

I started 5 seeds 5-16. I killed 2 after transplanting. oops.

of the 3 left, 2 started showing that they are fem today. i have 5 more sprouts to plant tommorow.

i was trying to buy some seeds from attitude soon, and i was gonna go with joint doctors diesel ryder but theyre sold out now when they had them just a few days ago. are those just milk gallon containers u have them in? ive never grown an autoflowering plant. i really want the diesel ryder. and i wanted to let a male pollinate one of the females so i could get more seeds for free. is it true that they one take 1.5 months? and how long are you letting those plants go to make the seeds mature? ive always picked the males out as soon as i noticed them. and out of those 2 females u have, how many did u try growing and how many males did u have. thanks in advance.

1.5 months is possible, but with most strains they are ready to harvest at 8-10 weeks. Diesel Ryders have an 8-9 week life cycle from seed to harvest. Also, if you pollinate do so as SOON as possible then throw the male(s) away. If you wait too long the plant will die before the seeds can mature. I pollinated probably 1 week into flowering just because my male wasnt ready yet. I will definitely let as many seeds as possible form before harvesting. You never want to harvest until the seeds are brown, with no green on them or they wont grow.

I did not personally start the Diesel Ryders that Im growing. I recieved them along with a male as a gift from a wonderful friend. He started 10 seeds and ended up with 7 females & 3 males. This was probably a stroke of luck though, as most seeds are about a 50/50 ratio of males to females. He just picked out the 2 best looking females & the best looking male for me.

I have seen pice of these DR strains getting 20+ inches and producing well under high wattage HIDs. The main reason for mine being so short is that they were kept in a 16oz party cup for one month, then transplanted to a gallon container. The containers are from a friend and unfortunately I cannot disclose anymore. I can, however, recommend NOT to put plants in clear or semi clear pots. It seems that my plants in solid color pots have MUCH thicker and more lush root systems than my others that were in clear containers. Plus every clear container grew algae pretty bad.

Good to see an autoflower thread.

A little extra advice -
Always pot autoflowers straight into their final pot around 6-8 litres. Lighting seems best when left on 20/4

Toocoolo, that doesn't look anything like a Lowryder2 and the fact that it hasn't flowered and is quite tall is another giveaway

That was a little over 12" and yeilded 30g. she was a nice smoke

can everyone whos grown af's list their yield dried and cured? it says blue ryder is kinda hard to grow. is that true? apparently the blueberry geneticsmake it difficult. just what i heard. and would an 8 inch pot be good for an autoflowering strian or should it be bigger?

attitude has diesel ryder back in stock now. im having a hard time deciding between blue streak and diesel ryder. anybody know if one yields more than the other?

Not sure how big an 8" pot would be, but at least 6 litre pot is recommended for autoflowers. Mine are in 8 litre pots and doing extremely well

Thought I would toss up a couple recent pics of my little pollinated Diesel Ryder AF ladies, Carmen & Regina.

They are still just the shortest little gals, but man are they getting FAT. I put an IBC root beer bottle between them for a size reference. Carmen on the left, Regina on the right. They are currently 54 days old.

Heres a single shot of each. Notice the discoloration & crispiness to the lower & even some of the higher leaves on both plants. Its worse on Regina. I am working on diagnosing this, hoping it was just heat stress as my temps got to 90F for about 8 hours or so the other day.

Thats about it right now, 1 week or so till harvest. i wont harvest if the seeds aren't nice & brown, so it may be longer.

Was thinking of breeding a few Auto AK's, how many seeds do you think you'll get from 1 plant? (rough guess is fine as I have no idea)

Depends on how early & how many times you pollinate. Also depends on the size of the plant.

I have been told that if you pollinate once, and do it early, that you should end up with an easy 50+ seeds per plant. I could see a larger plant putting out 100+ seeds.

I can easily see 30 or more on each of my little girls, not to mention the ones that are inside the buds. If you pollinate too late though the plant will die before the seeds mature, so ya gotta do it early.

Read some about AF breeding. Seems the orig LR (not LR2) is best to breed *with* (but not to smoke) One doesn't want to breed with a hybrid of a LR. Orig LR seeds are becoming tough to come by But are out there.

Now this is if I read correctly. If not, my bad.

hey dudes...great thread, i just love auto's!! my last grow was 10 diesel ryders, i ended up with 4 females, you can check it out, search diesel ryder 400 grow and my avatar pic was one that went purple and pink!! this grow i'm gonna go with more diesels, make some seeds and i might order some of the Easy Ryder(auto AK47) and do a few of those...i averaged a bit over an oz per plant in 3 gal containers..

hey all i am growing some lowlife auto white russian DWARFS. there breeders card says they would be done in ten weeks from seed. its been ten weeks looking amazing but idk.. all of the good sized buds have 75 percent colored hairs but there is forsure alot of new growth on the popcorn nugs should o let it go for a while longer er what? i shall post pics tonight sometime. but besides that some serious potential for this strain. wow are the trics pumpin and very very big main colas and side branching. est dry weight 1/2 oZ per plant

Hey all,
Anyone doing SOG or perpetual harvest with these autos? Seen any journals of people doing this? If so, I could really use a link to any grow journals with this as I'm currently planning to set up my own. Just looking to harvest a couple of ounces every few weeks or so (nothing to extravagant)

What auto strain have you guys found to be the best smoke? I know that the lr series is kinda crappy in terms of smoke/high quality but I'm curious about people's experiences with the crosses (auto blueberry x ak47, white russian, diesel ryder, easy ryder, etc...)
