Why the hatred for Autoflower strains?

Autos are hype. Stick to fems or regs, veg for less time and just make sure they get 12/12 for the remainder of their life. If you aren't able to do 12/12, for whatever reason, stop growing marihuana.
There it is, the distilled wisdom of 4 1/2 years of testing. Thank you for your sacrifice see4!

And since we can all sense your intentionally apparent sarcasm, tell us, why are auto flowers better than non-auto flower plants?
I don't think they are any better. I was amused by your resurrecting your very own zombie thread.
I was hoping you'd post more of your experiences from that interlude contrasting autos to photoperiod.

Some people grow in fucking PC cases. I think a small auto would suit such a grow. Fertile soil from the start, occasional watering, 20/4 light on a timer, maybe some airflow...no transplanting and no training.

I only have 2 growing right now, but I think they're fun. Set it and forget it. You don't need to dick with them as much as other plants. Sure, they're tiny, but if you have the luxury to try something new and grow for fun, then why not?

i grew some auto strains and all of them was fine.
lowrider i like the most.
blueberry auto grew with problems
You can't honestly say that Lowrider is quality smoke tho can you? I would love to see some no BS lab results showing the percentage of THC that plant produces.
I think Lord K nailed it "try something new and grow for fun" . They are a novelty and are lapped up by newbies who fall for the marketing.
I was not exaggerating when I said the trim from my regular plants was more potent than any of the autos I grew and smoked.

Indeed, your points are all valid, and if you are doing it just for "fun", yea, totally, auto's are just fine.

But I thought the intention of growing and harvesting marijuana is to take advantage of its medicinal purposes, no? Auto-flowers are part Ruderalis (sub)species, the thc and cbd cannabanoids that it produces are far less potent than that of sativa or indica. The only advantage Ruderalis provides is that it automatically transitions from vegetative to flower in a certain period of time, generally 3 weeks. So of the faster known auto strains go to flower in 2 weeks.

If that's the only advantage, then why not just use regular seeds or feminized seeds and transition to flower in 2 weeks manually? In the end you will have the same sized plant, but the likelihood of a potent medicine is much greater. And you get a chance to experiment with a lot more variety.

I didn't resurrect, I was responding to a comment. Yes, totally zombified thread, but worth bringing up again I suppose.

In my experience, auto flowers do not have the same medicinal effects as that of their sativa, indica or hybrid brethren. Or in this case, "sistahs". And as I've explained to Lord Kanti, why not simply take fem or reg seeds and "flip the switch" after 2-3 weeks of veg yourself? Which is why I qualified my original statement by saying if a grower is unable to handle that, they maybe shouldn't be growing in the first place.

Now that point, in it self, can be debated. However the quality of autos can not. We all know they are inferior.

The last auto I grew was a Dinafem Amnesia XXL. That bitch out grew my cab and damn near my closet. And I've had some NL autos and WW get over 4 1/2' from the bucket. I've pretty much outgrew my cab so many times most of the time I don't even bother cause they always end up in the closet anyway.

Now smoke report. I've done the Dinafem Amnesia photo and the Amnesia auto. I would say the potency is about the same. Flavor? Well te Amnesia XXL ain't that great but the odor is and the buzz is freeking awesome and among the best if not the best I've tried. There really is no noticeable difference between the Dina Amnesia photo and auto with regard to potency. Take about the same time I think if you 12/12 from seed the photo.

Why grow autos? One thing is you don't have to worry about light timing. I've grown many a time without even setting the timer. Just plug that bitch in then unplug it. Yeah, there's always that occasional drinking binge when you forget to turn it on that day. So, when you remember just plug that bitch in and let it run til the next day and go back to regular schedule.

The Dinafem genes are hardy as fuck. I mean if you get them to germ them bitches gonna grow. Forget to ph? I do all the time. Plants fine. Forget to do the math and add twice te nutes? Yep done that too plants fine. Bitch outgrowing the closet so you try to LST like 3 weeks before harvest? Break it? Yup. Just rig it up. It'll grow back together if you didn't completely snap it. I'm telling you they are a great way to grow.

Anyway, I'm just not a hater. I love the autos, but I'm getting kind of sick of them and want to try some photos next. Change up the game a little bit. It's all good. To each his own and, I do agree with the commercial dudes. Autos would probably work but, more can be done with photos if that's your grow style. Plus it gives hater bitches something to hate on when they ain't got nothing in they weinny washer to keep em Busy. :bigjoint:

Now LSD regular and I agree that "the trim from my regular plants was more potent"

No thank you. I would rather pay $120 over three months than $240 every two to three weeks. Just because you are growing photos doesn't mean you are growing the bomb, bro. I have grown Dinafem's White Widow, and for turned out abysmally awful. The autos that grew along side of it? Straight fire. Obviously the failure of the White Widow was due to my inexperience as a grower and I'm sure if I were to retry I could yield some frosty yum-yums, but in this instance autos yielded more and better smoke than a photo. Autos aren't what they were 5 years ago. Now-a-days they are a legimate, respectable variety of cannabis! So don't bash on people for choosing, or especially being forced, to grow autos.

Edit:
Furthermore, the ruderalis variety of cannabis is never sold by a seed bank. I can guarantee you that if you look at any breeder who offers Autos their genes will be "ghost og x (auto blueberry x auto big kush) for auto boo-berry kush" (that is a fake strain). So you see? To compare something that dilute full blooded ruderalis is a little silly. That's like using an msds sheet for concentrated acetic acid to safely handle vinegar.

Edit #2:
Even further, not everyone has access to the absolute flamest of the flame. If someone wants to follow an easy path to some decently dank and avoid their local, overpriced, under flushed, schwag; more power to you.

And if your trim is more potent than the main cola of an auto then you need to breed out that plant since apparently the sugar leaf is chock full of terpenes and flavonoids. Terpenes, for me anyway, is a huge part of smoking. I get way higher with bud that actually smells like something. I've smoked plenty of heaping trim bowls in my day, and let me tell you that I have gotten a better buzz off of Dog Shit OG.

Edit #3: The Final Chapter
Just wanted to show off my two autos; Heavyweight's Wipeout Express. They are so lush and full that they bulge out of my cabinet and I had to modify the back to allow my DWC res to sit further back. My modification causes a light leak so I'm happy I don't have two beautiful photos going!image.jpg

Those are already MUCH different looking than the Autos of five years ago, I agree with you there. The Auto AK I grew probably finished at about that height, so I would say vast improvements have been made since I grew them.

Not a hater , more like a pissed off customer who lost money on the advertising. Those old autos were not worth growing to me, can't really say about the new stuff which is why I gave the time frame and strains. But ,I am open minded (crazy concept here I know) , since this thread started I have spent some time looking at some of the grows here, and they do look impressive, NOTHING like what I grew.

Definitely scratching my head looking at some 5-6 oz auto grows here, would not have thought that was possible. Soooo I guess my input is dated.

They've come a long way but I have to agree with C+++ that photo is where it's at! especially for finding the 'perfect' plant (until you get tired of it haha)

The ONLY real benefit i see if their ability to flower under full light. One could use this as an advantage to operate a perpetual grow in one room rather than splitting it into two smaller veg and flower rooms.
