I never said unstable but their damn sure is variation in F1 also I said F1 would have more vigor and I know all about F2's having more variation. so yeah I don't know what your talking about F1's don't breed true every plant is a little different their is no myth just facts.
Actual F1's are incredibly stable. Cannabis breeders calling their shit an F1 - it's almost never the case. They're simply polyhybrids, which are not F1's at all - because F1's are perfectly stable. This is a fact of plant breeding. Cannabis breeders would be laughed at in the actual plant breeding community with the claims they make. Of course the actual plant breeding community doesn't have to deal with laws outlawing anything, but the point remains. The idea that F1's are unstable is a complete myth perpetrated by cannabis breeders calling anything and everything an F1.

Yeah, long ago I remember trying to make this same point on here, because from a truly botanical standpoint F1 hybrids are only created by crossing two different true breeding lines. Technically, nearly everything on the market as an F1 is actually F2 or higher. With a true F1 hybrid you do usually see very little variation, depending on the similarity of the parents. If you are working with an F1 sativa-indica hybrid, you'll usually see around 2-3 different phenotypes. If it is a sativa x sativa or indica x indica F1 hybrid you will see much less detectable variation in between phenotypes. From my experience, anyways.

Yup, I agree with you guys. Most people just cross plants and call it an F1 regardless of stability or lineage. It is making it harder for the consumer to understand what is really going on when they do this.

So...you think I should break laws and risk it more to get you seeds for cheaper so you can tell me how much you think they suck....your logic is baffling..
Why not? I break the law 365 days a year and I won't be the only one buying and the only problem I really have with DJ is the price and I've heard a lot about bad germination with DJ's seeds.

Also if they are good I'm not going to say they suck but word is Peak Seeds has a really good one with a nice discount...... :bigjoint:

And you can probably get greenhouse seeds for 40 a pack cause they're cash-cropping beans and strains. Dj never did that, he took his time and selectively choose the genetics he wished to work with. He didn't just put pollen A). to 100 different pheno's and pick the dankest looking offspring. As if looks are somehow indicative of medicinal value or effect. So silly is this pheno hunting gold rush. We're picking plants based on how they look in the bag and trying to call it breeding....lol. If I'm not mistaken, this is what we're referring to as pollen chucking. And anyone with enough resources (money) and the will to break enough laws can pollen chuck these strains into existence. But if we want something that caters to our specific ailments or specific environments, we'll probably have to pay someone to breed them, not pollen chuck them. So, get your pack of bag appeal beans from greenhouse. But if you want medicine, pay the extra few bucks to employ someone to breed it.
AMEN brother !! but the cannabis gene pool is so big ANY seeds have potential in my book . still trying to up the THCV in my seed stock:)

Runic Games CEO Max Schaefer, for instance, tells us that while it's been almost three years since his studio launched Torchlight, Valve's Steam promotions have helped the game maintain healthy sales to this very day.

"We find that we get several thousand percent increases in units and revenue on the days of the Steam sales, and unit sales are usually about double the normal for a few weeks after the sales are over," he says.

This year's Summer Sale (which ended July 22) was particularly noteworthy for Runic, as it helped Torchlight hit its second biggest day ever in terms of overall unit sales -- not bad for a game that came out in October 2009.

And Runic's case doesn't seem to be an anomaly; Supergiant Games' Amir Rao tells us that these Steam sales have proven more lucrative than his game's initial debut.

"A lot of times we judge the success of a game -- and predict its sales -- by looking at its launch day numbers. Steam sales have made that delightfully impossible. Our launch day [for Bastion], which we viewed as very strong, is only our fifth best day of sales ever on Steam due to the power of the promotions we've had the opportunity to participate in," Rao says.

According to indie developer and Super Meat Boy co-creator Edmund McMillen, these promotions can increase sales to an almost staggering extent. His 2D dungeon crawler The Binding of Isaac, for example, saw sales multiply by five when it was marked down by 50 percent, and once it hit the front page as a temporary "Flash Deal" (for 75 percent off), sales multiplied by sixty.
This is from an article regarding Steam sales and how they influence the market.

You folks can keep arguing about it, but people that are worth billions know how to get people and their money seperated know that pricing is a huge factor in people's purchases. It's also very apparent you can make way more money with "massive sales" then you would with regular pricing.

Billionaires are probably wrong though :)

There are quality breeders with reasonable prices.

Its money hungry, fame addicted wankers (GHS, dinfem, dodgy seed banks that breed their own seeds from originals?) that bring greed and possessive attitudes to ganja, our sweet mary j, kaya mi lovely herb...

collecting and databasing the wild landrace cannabis strains and wild type mutations that occur in gardens around the world collectively and with a sharing attitude is the best way for us to cultivate the best out of this plant.

think like hippies on the old overland route spreading hash, seeds, love and peace across the world.

:bigjoint:

Fuck y'all capitalist douche munching cunt monkeys. :fire::fire::fire:

I must have missed the relevancy somewhere. I think we all know billionaires know how to make money. We are talking about ethics though.

It was more regarding the argument against competitive pricing and the idiotic notion that "it's their business so a customer, or potential customer, isn't allowed to voice their opinion."

Just to be clear it wasn't singling any particular breeder out. DNA/RP, Rare Dankness, Gage Green, Sin City etc.etc.etc. are all breeders I am interested in but have priced themselves out of my garden for the foreseeable future. A good promo might entice me but other then that I've got what I am looking for.

I've got like a $2000 tin of beans sitting behind me, I've bought my fair share of overpriced beans and contributed to the problem :)

Is this ethical? I'm tired of buying commercial seeds and getting 3-5 phenos from a supposedly stable "strain". So, going forward (actually from about 6 months ago) I made a decision to utilize genetics on hand, and buy only reg seeds of genetics I want, specifically looking for males so I can make my own crosses/seeds. I say fuck these seed companies and ridiculous/greedy pricing and fem-only seeds. If you want $10/seed give me a reg or GFY. It's been more fun pheno hunting through my own crosses than buying seeds anyhow...

theres never enough seeds in breeders packs for me so i usually choose 2 top quality though very different types and cross them to gain the numbers of beans i require, i dont sell the beans, i dont know if this is ethically right or wrong? always had a prob with whats right or wrong anyways...gets kind of confusing, one persons poison is anothers medicine etc...whateva gets u thru the night...

You and me both, I was a little confused as to where you were going with that but you make perfect sense. I am on bean lockdown, no more beans until the tin starts to empty. I have so many reviews to write about all these strains and there are people waiting on me to do it :o.

I don't get paid to do it though and the plants take as long as they wanna take, I don't give them a week time limit.

lol yes, ive noticed yourself & some others here do a hell of a lot of good work with accurate advice & data on offer here, thanks, though what can start as just a wholesome quest to find the best varieties of weed & info here & elsewhere can turn into a political nightmare soo quickly, its just our human nature to complicate things to the point of insanity, we are hardwired to do that...fricken gods & their miserable party tricks they have played on us

I'm at the point that I'm going to limit myself to 2 or 3 breeders and my own pollen chucks. I don't care about breeder drama so I'll grow whatever I think looks and sounds good.

I'd actually find it more enjoyable to share seeds with fellow growers and see what comes out of their gardens; than fill the pockets of seed banks.

There's too much bs in this industry of who bred what, who stole what, who doesn't have legit clones ect. It gets to the point that I don't know who to believe and just stop caring about it.

Doesn't matter to me, I just grow weed.
