Not to mention retirement from military service starts after 20 years

That was actually one of the big benefits my 18 year old self considered. Retire at 40 from the military and have another 25 years of building a business, then retire at 65 and collect 2 paychecks on top of the success of the business. Seems like a pretty financially sound decision to make to me..

Federal service also stacks, you can rock a retirement from a branch and then snag a fed job and start another pension. Pretty exceptional.
