No, you have put up only 2 choices, because in your mind there are no alternatives. In your mind public school is "Free". Your cognitive dissonance does not allow you to see alternatives, your mind does not allow you to think outside the box from which you have willingly enslaved yourself to its practices.

Why don't we just teach children how to read and write, and then turn them loose in the library to educate themselves? Or do you not think a person can inform themselves without an adult nearby to tell them how to think and what material to read?
precisely.

"what box"?

EDIT: how much to upgrade to level 2 politics?

In 1971 the Army wanted meat in boots. I was just lucky that the US was engaged in a bloody, foolish war in Vietnam, I guess. I don't know about the Air Force back then.

Today, all the services insist on a HS diploma, I think.
Give london a break, he claims he was an officer in the Air Force, he is delusional.

I would say some of our public schools need to be fixed, but I'm grateful that we have public schools. I make sure I live in an area with great public schools. I think that is my job as a parent to assure my children get the best education possible. Do you do anything now to help your kids public schooling?
I was a bit of a slave driver looking back. The eldest is a CRNA, the youngin is a CPA. Public schools held them back too, but the only private choices in my area were Catholic schools, so they got a pass on that because all of the kids back then were making fun of the private school kids on the block and I didn't want to subject them to ridicule like that over my own principles. Being a kid is hard enough. The indoctrination is strong in the youngins.

He also made a poll asking if we went to public school and thinks the results are our opinion of public schools.

If he's the example, i'm against it.

wait are you saying you denied your kids a better education because kids would make fun of them. WTF
I would put my children in a private school in a heartbeat if I felt they are not getting a proper education in public school. The kids laughing at them today will be taking their fast food order tomorrow.

The only private schools in the area were Catholic, sorry if I sacrificed a better education to keep them out of that environment. I'm good with that. They turned out fine.

One does not need to go to school to be smart or stupid. School doesn't make you smart, why do you think it does?

Can you explain what dihedral does when applied to an airplane's wing?
schools can make you smarter
stability..why ?

Sorry, no. The kids laughing at them today will not have jobs tomorrow. Some Mcdonalds now require you to have a baccalaureate to be a cashier. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/04/winchendon-mcdonalds-college-degree_n_3013838.html

Having a college degree is no promise of a better job. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/31/college-graduates-minimum-wage-jobs_n_2989540.html

Hundreds of Thousands of College graduates work for minimum wage. That has increased by 70% since a decade ago.

If you can't see that your country is slowly circling the drain, you should turn off the television and try to think for yourself.

Actually the poll is to see how many went to public school. The thread with your post tells me how you feel about it.

No, schools have no influence on ones IQ. Going to school only makes you more INFORMED, it does not teach you to be smarter.

The idiot savant that has never attended one day of school can do calculus in his head faster than a computer.

A man with Autism is considered the greatest sculptor alive.

A man with an IQ of 40 can play 20 different musical instruments with absolute mastery.

You dropped a box of toothpicks and they spilled on the floor, the guy with no education takes one look and tells you that 433 are laying in the pile, you count them all and there are 433 of them.

School doesn't make you smarter London.

Schools can help you get the most out of your intelligence or stifle your learning, they don't increase or decrease your intelligence, that's genetics.

You know Albert Einstein was home schooled right? You know his best and most famous work was in the private sector before he went to work in the universities and gov programs right?

You are going to lose all day every day if you try to make the argument our public school system is awesome.
