"Approximately 4,715 acres of prime farmland soil would be directly impacted by construction of the proposed pipeline."

"The proposed Project would impact waterbodies across the states of Montana, South Dakota, and Nebraska. The proposed Project route would avoid surface water whenever possible; however, the proposed Project route would still cross approximately 1,073 waterbodies, including 56 perennial rivers and streams, as well as approximately 25 miles of mapped floodplains."

The potential environmental issues go from ES-8 - ES-11 in that report from the State Dept., and that doesn't include the endangered animals risk, so when you say they say it's 100% safe, that's a lie. That's not what the State Dept. reports.

I agree, but the potential environmental damage it can cause outweighs the amount of jobs it will create (by most estimates, less than 50 full time positions)

This study from the State Dept. says 35;http://keystonepipeline-xl.state.gov/documents/organization/205719.pdf

Politifact confirms, 35; http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2014/feb/10/van-jones/cnns-van-jones-says-keystone-pipeline-only-creates/

"Whatever the number, these jobs are temporary, lasting only for the year or two that it would take to complete the project. The number of permanent jobs is much lower. “The proposed Project would generate approximately 50 jobs during operations,” according to State’s analysis."

So what. Show me any infrastructure job that isn't "temporary".

How does the fact that you think any infrastructure job is temporary negate the argument I put forth? I asked why he supports it, he says "because jobs", I said it doesn't create permanent jobs, so that's a stupid reason to support it.

Quote where it says "no harm to the environment", then show me the the 34 national institutes of science that agree with it

Nice try Paddy

Even after all the environmental impact studies, the State Department approves the Keystone project.
So, what is your problem wit it?

no need to parse words, lets stick to the general issue, if you can.

Whatever UB, people are getting sick and tired of you whining about your alleged sock puppets, they don't give a shit what you think, take a hint.
I know this forum is a major part of your life (70,000 posts), that doesn't mean it is for the rest of us.

Go start your own crybaby thread and get some sympathy.

The State Dept. approving it doesn't mean it won't do damage to the environment

I told you the issue I take with it, potential damage to the environment and no benefit to the American people (not to mention we're the ones paying for it). It enriches Canadian oil companies and doesn't provide American jobs.

So you said you support it because it creates jobs, which it doesn't according to the State Dept. so do you really only support it because Republicans support it?

I think you are just a stubborn partisan and believe anything the left tells you.
Look up how many jobs the Alaska pipeline created, and Keystone is much longer.

So the US is going to let Canada put a 1200 mild long pipeline through this country and it's a freebie?

And I've asked you, Kynes, and many other members to demonstrate my partisanship, I would love to see it! I've produced evidence of me criticising democrats and left leaning politicians. None of you have ever sided with a democratic politician on anything or criticised a republican on anything.

Keystone pipeline will create 37 permanent US jobs, every single source available says it's between that and 50. It will create temporary jobs for the amount of time it takes to build, then at the end of that time, people like you will say "look how many jobs Obama lost!"..

good catch on how beenthere cites the same agency that claims AGW is real.

not even beenthere is dumb enough to dumb his way out of that one!

IIRC, that's the second time he's done that, NASA being the first..

Dude doesn't seem to realize it doesn't work that way..

@jahbrudda, is the State Dept right about anthropogenic climate change?

Show me the source where that tells you only 37 permanent jobs.
1,200 miles of pipeline and only 37 permanent jobs huh.

Failed logic my friend.
Like all government agencies, sometimes they'r right and sometimes they're wrong, doesn't mean they're right all the time or wrong all the time.
Are there any scientists that have been wrong about their predictions on climate change?

"A State Department study projects only 35 permanent jobs in pipeline maintenance and inspection."

Here's that State Dept. study; http://keystonepipeline-xl.state.gov/documents/organization/205719.pdf

And here's Forbes' report; http://www.forbes.com/sites/energysource/2013/05/10/pipe-dreams-how-many-jobs-will-be-created-by-keystone-xl/

"The report says the project would provide jobs for about 35 permanent employees and 15 temporary contractors."

http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2014/feb/10/van-jones/cnns-van-jones-says-keystone-pipeline-only-creates/

"The U.S. State Department estimates that 42,100 jobs would be added during construction, but that only 50 workers would be required to operate the pipeline."

http://www.factcheck.org/2014/03/pipeline-primer/

So... no jobs, why do you really support it? Because the republicans do.
