This is what is destroying our country

I don't have time to look, but I'm sure it's because of something in our 50K page tax code.

I don't have answers, only suggestions, but we all recognize that our tax code is a major problem. Our corporate laws are a major problem to those of us who are not rich. Gerrymandering districts are a major problem when a politician has no fear of not being re-elected.

We have lots of issues, but it seems we are becoming more aware of them. Our history has been to treat the symptoms and not the cause though, so I'd like to see us identify causes before we "fix" anything.
I already have. You seem to be doing a lot of taking for someone who admits he needs to do his homework.

I have studied the issues, in depth. You've disagreed with my educated opinions- and you just told me you have no basis in fact or study upon which to base your assertions.

Sophistry is commonplace; to be truly different from the shouting masses, try to have something of note to add, rather than confused 'opinion' in place of reasoned analysis.

Yeah, apparently you forget something of us have been alive for over 40 years and have working memories. The Republicans are finally playing the game the Dems have been playing for DECADES and all of a sudden big money is bad.

You may have missed the SCOTUS decision on the subject. It's legal and I firmly support every dollar invested in ridding this country of the ideas and policies that you and the ilk like you support. That kind of dumb costs money to destroy.
So you are supporting a system that actively fucks you over because you perceive your team to be in control of the cock going in your ass.

Again, truly astounding

To make matters even dumber, the democrats do the exact same thing, but because the republicans do it too, you support it

I honestly think you are the dumbest person on this forum. I'm not kidding.

Plus in fairness, even without "campaign contributions" you've still got legal congressional insider trading, so instead of cash donations the corporations will just give "tips".
Not if we pass the 28th amendment

When did Unions give money anonymously?
I am not sure but there are reports that the teachers unions are giving record amounts in this election. Yeah, that sounds completely fair and unbiased... Government employee unions donating to government politicians who make the choices about the unions. I am sure there is no corruption going on. Well, except for the rampant corruption continually exposed. I guess nothing has changed, move on folks, nothing to see here :]

The 28th Amendment removes the ability to legally trade using insider knowledge?

That sounds like a very specific amendment that'll require a lot of SCOTUS bullshit.

Separate problems require separate solutions

Unlimited money in politics is the biggest problem we face, without a doubt

I don't disagree.

Holy shit, have we hit a crossroads here?

I will say that corporate and large private donations are but one branch on the shit-tree that needs pruning.

But it's definitely a start.

I'm all for anything that shifts the power balance back to the citizens and away from government and corporations, and I think it's good to hear ideas and opinions from both sides so long as they actually lead to a valid solution

So much shit would change for the better

Indeed, this is the only way a viable, workable solution can be reached at all.

hey!..i've got an idea!..no money, no religion in politics!!:dunce:

maybe we should be just about running the country, instead of lining pockets of bazillionaires and telling people who they can love legally, all the while diddling men at the local park bathroom stall during lunch.

in this world of technology..you no longer need TV ads, traveling/stumping, newspapers..all candidates get a website (free of charge) in order to discuss their platform.

constituent votes.

end of story.

The Federal Reserve's capacity to print unlimited amounts of currency is the biggest problem and the foundation of all of our other problems

I think I understand the difference...one has a lower tax burden for less effort in the case of capital gains.
That's the main distinction.

Your bemoaning of the Fed's ability to credit the reserve accounts of financial institutions and the Treasury are hardly the problem, never mind "foundation" of them.
If you're looking to pin blame somewhere, try the Financial Sector and the lack (or captured) regulatory bodies in charge of keeping them in check when they start creating derivative products based on a vacuum of assets.

The fact the FED has some manner of autonomy is part of the solution. If it weren't for the fact the FED's balance sheet is analogous to a black hole, the economic chaos would've been more pernicious, along with the ensuing civil unrest which would've followed.

An organization of actual people with a shared interest versus a billionaire creating fake astroturf organizations so he can buy a politician who will enrich him.
Yeah sure it's the same thing to a fucking retard like you
