Hey captain, do you run 12-12 and then 15min of 730nm, or 14-10 or some other combination?

I am currently experimenting with 730nm leds for the first time and I'm wondering if 12-12 + 15min FR causes you more stretching because of 14 hour effective night length.

When using 730nm at lights out, do you need to make days 14 hours, or is it fine to run 12-12 + FR pulse?

Got my parts for a 730 nm retrofit of some cheap chinese 20 watt floods I have. I'll be putting two 3 watt 730 nm stars with BJB solderless connectors and a 6 watt driver in each for use as flower initiators.

Too much 730 during lights on will cause excess stretching but at lights out it's just a trigger for the the plant. You get more plant growth because you speed up the state switch and give the plant more energy to build with. As a rule outdoor starts flowering at 14/10 and indoor is 12/12,that because outdoors the plant gets 730 naturally and indoors there is no 730 at sunset and after. Without 730 the plant takes two hours to switch states, you also need 660nm at lights on to change the state back. Flowering is controlled by the length of darkness, outdoors 14/10,indoors 12/12 plus the two hours to change state because of the lack of 730 at lights out. With the strains that I run it has shortened my flower time by about a week and increased yields by taking in the extra energy when on 13.5/10.5. I've been using it for going on two years and swear by it.

Mine (a copy of positivity's) is just a 1inch aluminum flat bar from home depot with holes tapped for 3 LED stars.

1 of these drivers to drive all 3 leds in series: APC-25-700

3 of these LZ4-40R308-0000 730nm led stars. LZ4-40R308-0000

I had to use a metal cutting wheel to get the aluminum bar the right length (home depot only had 4 foot bars.)

They want 200 bucks for one of these things. Do you have a parts list to build one cheaper?

Wow! The ledengin ones at mouser are WAY more expensive now. When I got them, they were 13.60USD each. Now it looks like they're 22.88.... Better go with the epistar considering efficiency doesn't even matter for 15 minutes.

can you show photos of what the 730nm light looks like for comparison purposes?
I got some epistars. They are 15$ for 12pcs 3W on ebay

Those look amazing as always captain! What size are your pots? Im running a single cob over one plant and it is doing great. Seems like plants use more water/nutrients under them. Have you found this to be true as well?

I'm using higher amounts Cal-Mag and water compared to previous grows. NPK is about the same, maybe a tad higher.
