Because the meddling of white folk in that continent's affairs, with their gain in mind, for a century or two now had no negative effect on the ethnic population, it was all because the white folk left! As we all know, a genetic trait that effects skin pigment has a direct correlation to how useful you are to society. It's not that the engineers, farmers, and professionals left; it's the fact that they're white that's important...

Most of those people had been there for generations are were Zimbabweans (sp). They DID feed Africa. They were forced off the farms (fact), then people starved (fact).

How many people were starving before vs. after? What relevance did their skin tone have on anything? To be fair, a loss of investor confidence is quite likely due to a mass government seizure of assets. Businesses don't like to set up in places where they are likely to get nationalized. "Zimbabwe's economy went into free-fall at the turn of the millennium, after President Robert Mugabe began seizing white-owned farms." The bolded part of this quote from the article is important. How well do you think those nationalized farms did? Do you think it was how it was run, the skills of those involved, or the race of the farmers? Please explain.

I believe it is because they cut the farms up into very small pieces of land. 4,500 farms divide into 170,000 smaller farms or plots of land. Anyone can see that problems created. Maybe enough to feed a family but not much else. Larger commercial farmers produce much more volume per acre.

From BBC:

Only just over a third of the new farmers are doing well, about a fifth are supplementing their income by other means, and the rest are struggling, are not using the land for active production, or have given up altogether.
Even this sober view is challenged.
Economic consultant John Robertson suggests that agricultural output is only around 50% of the level it was before the land invasions began in 2000.
"Most of the new people involved who are farming the land that was confiscated from the large-scale farmers are producing enough for themselves and not much more," says Mr Robertson.


Mr Robertson believes the entire land redistribution exercise was meant to create a system of patronage, through a pool of voters who were dependent on the ruling Zanu-PF party.
"If you display your loyalty to the ruling party, you will get a free piece of land. If you show any disloyalty to the party, guess what… you'll lose it," he says.

So what does this have to do with the white people being kicked out? That was the subject of your first post. Before it was because all the whites were booted out (All the white farmers, engineers, professionals, etc.); now the issue is redistribution of assets. If you're the white guy living in a land where your ancestors repressed and took advantage of the natives, would you be surprised when the natives retook power and took their land back? It sucks if you're the white guy, but is it really a shock? Are they really worse off for it, like you imply? Or are they merely working toward building their own country now that they have taken it back?

That's not how it happened. They removed the farmers that were producing enough food for an entire continent. They, generally, left country. When that happened the professionals started to leave, too. At one point Mugabe tried to stop them from leaving. Never heard what happened there.

Side note: my brother is civil engineer that works on designing new power plants and is called in for trouble shooting. He told me that enough professionals have left (and this was way back when) that the plants will probably stop working because of disrepair.

When over there he told me that buses sit on the side of the road cannibalized to fix others. Eventually, things just stop, kinda like Detroit.

Did you read the last post? Much more than just pure redistribution. What they have a a famine brought on by the government. Feed a few instead of feeding all.

You didn't address your race points that you emphasized in your OP, still. Redistribution is taking land from one group and giving it to others, so that happened. You have yet to address the fact that Europeans have treated Africans like second class citizens well into the 90's, and the long term repercussions of those actions. Not saying Mugabe is the best choice of "elected" leaders here, but you reap what you sow.

Taken it back?.....If they would of waited a little longer they might of been able to get in the casino business....like our natives...It took awhile, but I don't hear them bitching anymore......nitro..
